He's not there now....at least not physically! Who needs to get in there except those who are invited? Do you feel any of 'us' would dare violate his space now that he's gone? It does not make sense. I'm just sayin'. If there were reports of people trying to break in after P's passing, I'd understand, but that has not been revealed at all. -- But there valuable items inside. Locks are made for thieves. You also have to remember Graceland Inc put up the money for this venture the family may have little say concerning the wall and Paisley Park will not fall into their possession until the estate is settled things could change down the road.

The most valuable item that's ever been in there is Prince. Life Matters

Do you happen to know how this process works in MN/Mpls, is it possible for the public to make representations/send letters to the planning committee? Not like I love my guitar....

Maybe a protest needs to be staged to prevent this from happening. Fans in Minne, those visiting Minne, perhaps can chain themselves to the current fence. It would generate publicity and let the powers that be know, the fans do not approve. It would need to be an agreed upon date when many, many people come together to do it. Maybe signs made that say, "No Walls Around Paisley Park", or "Don't wall Prince in", etc.

Yeah, but the man himself saw no need for a wall that he could've more than paid to have erected if he felt afraid. Not sure why he would "wish" for something to go bad.

Sadly guys this is why I have no faith in PP. When this (us) segment of fans die out etc.I think PP will be done. He already was viewed as "weird" old etc by this new generation of young folks. I dont see todays teens and 20 + somethings making a trek out to this large possibly soon to be walled off PP in the next 10 or 15 years or beyond. Its like they are making him and everything so unavailable almost as if they dont want future generations to discover him. PP is gonna struggle to turn a profit I think and after the first visits by us true die hards who loved him. It will slowly fizzle out. I give it 5 years before we hear that it has to be sold.

What I don't understand is..He held events there..with a venue capacity of 2k.Why no parking/traffic issues in the past? Are there going to be 2k people touring at a time? A wall is going to make it look like a prison..so sad! Until the end of time

Like many others, I do not agree with this.
They are possibly turning the Egg into a Boutique Hotel? Really?
I have not seen the inside of the Egg, so I am not sure the floor plan. But, they could have used that as a secondary musuem and gift shop. This could alleviate traffic in PP, especially if recording sessions are going on.
I am very dissappointed with the wall and Hotel ideas.

That's exactly what I was going to write. It might take a sit-in, something akin to what "tree-huggers" do to save endangered trees. I'd say this proposed wall warrants "fence-huggers."

It just might come to this point. If so, there will need to be a bail fund.

It's kind of ironic that Prince sang, 'It's so fresh knockin' down / The wall of Berlin' and here we are, facing the possibility of one being erected around PP.

She was on the grounds hunting for food with a bow and arrow. He needed security.

Prince no longer owns Paisley Park. The Estate owns it. That means, ultimately, the siblings will own it unless a will and/or trust document is located. However, the Estate has entered into a four-year agreement with a company which is investing a great deal of money in PP to make it a tourist attraction as well as an entertainment venue/facility. This is a business decision, pure and simple. It is not meant to harm or offend anyone, especially Prince fams. But the building complex is changing.

We have no say in this matter. It will be dealt with by powerful people whose main interest is making big money.
At least Paisley Park is in my heart.

At least Paisley Park is in my heart. Or whose main interest is making sure PP stays in the family and isn't sold or tore down. Paisley Park is in your heart

I don't want some wall that makes PP look like a prison but should they allow people to leave stuff there indefinitely? Does it eventually just look like a mess? Will the estate have to maintain this and clear stuff out every few months? What happens during the winter when we get 10 inches of snow? I would propose they have a dedicated smaller area where they allow people to leave mementos. I don't have a problem with them not allowing stuff all along the fence but don't put up a wall that doesn't let anyone see inside. That would be awful. Paisley Park is in your heart

Have you ever been to Père-Lachaise?

Think about Kensington Palace after Princess Diana died. At first, there were mountains of flowers and mementos. Over time, this decreased to the point where some items appear on her birthday and the date of her death now. This will happen to PP as well. When the Princess Diana exhibition went around the world, I saw it in Connecticut. I was able to sign a guest book which, at the conclusion of the tour, was to be sent back to Althorp, where she is buried, for the Spencer family to keep. I think it would be a lovely gesture if visitors to PP could sign a guest book (they better buy hundreds of them), to be kept with Prince's possessions forever. I just don't think people should protest the wall and the removal of the link fence. Prince would not have wanted anything like that. IMO

Have you ever been to PΓ¨re-Lachaise? I've been to Pere Lachaise several times. It's unfortunate they have to have security guards on Jim Morrison's grave and have had to encase Oscar Wildes grave in glass to stop people leaving lipstick marks. This is one of the reasons famous people nowadays are interred in undisclosed locations to stop these shrines happening. I think the last thing the estate wants(and local residents no doubt) is the PP fence to become a place of pilgrimage. It would be a lovely idea to build a memorial garden or something though instead. A bit like the John Lennon one in Central Park. There's always a rainbow π , at the end of every rain βοΈ
