NOt feeling the decision to remove everything from the fence today at Paisley. Shows a lack of forethought and consideration for fans.

Did anybody related to the estate even consider that many of Prince's biggest fans will be coming to town for the Paisley tour and tribute events? Think that maybe these fans might want to see the mementos, left on the fence, when they make the visit to Paisley in a couple weeks?

My guess is whatever they're doing wit the fence they want done before the tours start on the 6th. This is the second time they've taken stuff down so there's a lot of stuff people coming into town wouldn't have seen. They are saving a lot of this stuff so it's possible this stuff will be on display somewhere. I drive past PP every day and have walked by it numerous times the past month or two. Quite honestly it looked messy. Not like right after he passed when it was a sea of purple, balloons, flowers you name it. This was more sporadic and just looked messier. The fence along hwy 5 was pretty much empty most of the stuff was concentrated around the entrance on Audubon road. With the tours stating and winter coming I can see why they made the decision to take it down. Also it's been very windy here and I have heard there were complaints about debris.

What's more important to me is if they go ahead with the plan to replace the fence, what do they replace it with? I am really hoping they reconsider the opaque wall. Do a nice rod iron fence and politely ask people not to leave stuff at the fence. An opaque wall is just overkill and would be filled up with graffiti in no time which will just be more costly to remove than something tied to a fence.

It's a city issue. City is asking for removal, aside for the fact that with the rain it looks really sloppy. Everything is being kept by Paisley.

Fans are being considered and consulted on most every decision coming out of PP

I agree, there are so many different options outside of a concrete/opaque wall.

Wow.

What a crazy world we live in when topics surrounding Prince, the musician, have led to limited thread activity about his vault material being released, but a fire of activity because the owners of the estate want to change a boundary.

I watched the 2 hour planning application video and it all seems reasonably thought out. They are looking to change the entrances for traffic purposes, use a wall for additional security and to stop increasing amounts of cars pulling over on the freeway to take pictures.

The fence was great, but like flower memorials for Lennon, Diana, Jackson, they are a flood of temporary grief, not eternal shrines. If fams really are taking pancakes and captain crunch out their 'for Prince' then they need to see a therapist. The only thing the fence will become is a health hazard.

Beside, a wall could be a good thing. It will add to the mystique on arrival. It works at Graceland, and in Princeland, it could be nicknamed Grafitti Wall.

My name is on that wall at Graceland!! Not that i'm in favor of some giant ass prison wall but something like this for the fams can sign their names and leave a piece of themselves there would be aweosme. I would love to be able to say my name is at both Graceland and PP.

It bothers me to no end those that think that PP will be out of business in 5 years because peoples intrest will fade out. You obviously have never heard of Elvis!! I think that PP will be as successful as Graceland has been all of these years. Heck my grandmother who shook Elvis' hand took my mom, my sister, my 3 year old nephew, and myself to Graceland not once but twice. I plan on dragging my kids who happen to love Prince to PP and I will take them to see Graceland as well. I really feel in 20 years Prince is still going to be relevant and PP will still be going strong the way that Graceland is. I really believe that Prince in our generations Elvis. Obviously i'm not the only one or Graceland wouldn't be funding this project.

Londell tweeted this today. Makes me think the city is pushing this not the Estate. I think the whole safety argument is BS but if the city has the final say what can the Estate do?

This is probably a new thread but where are princes ashes, I wonder if they are planning a reflection area such as they have at Graceland. On a good note I'm so happy that they are turning pp into a museum without a will it could have gone in a different direction... I du however believe prince would have wanted part of pp to remain a working studio for young musicians to use but this would be a entirely different issue. The wall, well, I'd like it to remain as is with necessary changes to protect the estate and neighborhood as Prince would have wanted. wink

sad

I shared the petition/video on FB and twitter.

This wall is so disrespectful to all he stood for. What a way to dishonor someone who was all about the love.

I love you baby, just not like I love this guitar.~Prince~
