I dont think Oct 13 is going to happen. No way no how. I really wish it did because I felt it would bring me some closure. Even Mint Condition's manager look like they got email from the estate that the event isnt going to happen. If people booked their traveling plans I would use the opportunity to try to go some of the fan events that is already happening with the PP tour and the such around that week so you wouldnt feel like your money is waste.

Londell is the wrong for announcing things and didnt have anything finalized like contract signs or planning things before he announced. He is a lawyer and he should know better as I expected more out of him.

But, who knows, maybe there will be a big announcement tomorrow.

Tomorrow will be 4 weeks to the day from the "supposed" concert date. I will keep hope alive for one more day but am already trying to make Plan B for Thurs. Hope it works out but doubtful. Either way, I'm looking forward to coming, paying my respects at PP, meeting people and celebrating a life that meant so much to so many. We may not get a tribute concert, but HE has our hearts and souls. Not going to let disorganization a and chaos ruin it. P deserves better. Can't wait to celebrate all things PURPLE.

Yes, Londell should know better. After all, he is an attorney who heads a media conglomerate. In fact, in view of that, I have to believe that Londell does know better, which raises all kind of red flags in my mind. Still, maybe, he's going to pull a rabbit out his hat tomorrow or Friday, but the statement by Mint Conditions' manager pretty much sucked out what little air was left in the balloon.

Well, it appears Morris Day is out. He mysteriously deleted his last tweet about the Tribute Concert-now he's booked on the 14th in Jakarta, Indonesia. Couldn't possibly do both. Very pissed at him. At least Sheila E, immediately said she wasn't doing Minne. Morris said he was-advertising it and all-up until Sunday. I thonl the Tribute Concert is officially over cry

I think Morris Day and The Time are actually in Maryland on Oct. 14, but the booking date is confusing as listed on his Facebook. It lists two locations. I took a screenshot.

MDAT Screenshot

I see what happened. Whoever posted the event didn't make it in EST, I think that's why Facebook linked it to Jakarta even though the creator put Maryland. I've made the trip from Ohio to Taiwan which is the same 12 hour difference. It might be possible if he had a little down time but I don't think anyone could do that trip in that short of time period. My trip alone took about 20 hours each way and was exhausting. I can't imagine what that would be like and have to immediately perform upon arrival. Morris and The Time are professionals and seasoned performers but I don't think anyone is that good.

I agree. I think we all should start making a "Plan B" for Thurs. A group get-together, celebration or even touring around together. Let's have a good time and celebrate Him!!! Anyone have suggestions?

I've been assuming that Plan B would be enacted for a couple weeks now. Even if there had been a tribute, I wasn't too excited about the potential performers. I just want to be around others who loved him and his music like I did. I want to share stories of our first concerts, the first time we heard him, our favorite songs, etc. I think it would be fun to do something outdoors like they did in Chicago. My ideal situation would be Questlove spinning at some big outdoor Prince funk-fest. Just musice, dancing, sharing memories and making new ones. Weather permitting of course...

There is a complicated protocol the Estate has to follow when they attempt to enter into a business agreement.

The potential heirs can file objections to potential Estate business agreements.

It very well could be some of the heirs are not in agreement on how the Stadium Tribute should be handled financially and/or other issues with the Tribute.

But who knows for sure because everything is so secretive in the handling of the Estate.

Just saying.

In view of all the complexities and legalities, I just wish they had not made any announcement until: 1) There was a signed contract in hand for the venue;
2)Performers had been booked; and 3) Tickets were on sale.

yes The problem is they set up expectations. If they fail to deliver, they've just added another dip in the rollercoaster ride of grief.

I'm sure it's not easy from their side and they've had many challenges to work through. But they set up the expectations in the first place. Which, BTW, fams were only too happy to grab on to, having waited sooo long for the "official", family-endorsed tribute/memorial.

Up we go, then down.

YASSSSS!!!! Plan B...I'm not flying in until Thurs morning, so my day is now completely open. I'm not going to count on Questlove or anyone else at this point. I think we make our own palns. I know many people will be coming in Wed and will alreday have planned tours/sightseeing, etc for the day. How about we try to do something Thurs night? I'm assuming everyone thought the concert would be at night and left that open. LOCALS: we need your help here. I SUCK at organizing events but am up for any and all suggestions.

Maybe there should be one for the first anniversity of his death I mean it is coming very fast believe it or not. I dont expect to be exactly on April 21st but around that date. I understand some fans might not like that idea and also feel it is too far away but on the other hand next month is already going to be six months since he passed and time go fast. And with planning around April it give more time to plan and have more both bigger stars and more associates are willing to participate. And also the family members I hope they do better job working together to make it happen if the rumors of them feuding for TV rights and the such are true. overall it will be nice for people to put aside their difference. Sigh.

But have it around April and also have a promoter this time instead of Londell to plan and be the voice on social media with announcements. And fans already are losing faith in Londell so its better to have another spokesperson. Londell needs to stay the hell back and let people who actually know what they doing lead.

I am just throwing ideas outs. Prince is a international superstar and damn I know he didnt leave a will but still he deserved better.

disch

that actually sounds a little like the Spike Lee block party in Brooklyn I went to in June (minus Questlove DJing -- it was some other guy). They spun Prince for hours, had fun dance contests, Spike showed off the guitar P gave him, Andre Cymone came out on stage and talked about P, I saw Toure in the crowd smile, etc. It was actually a great time and really was nice just to be around hundreds (thousands?) of P fans, all dancing to his music and having fun. There have been dance parties and such in a lot of cities, I know, and that might have helped given those fans that cathartic moment. There were more here in NYC that I wish I had gone to.

That's the spirit!!! woot!

Like I said, I'm not even going to be in Minneapolis but I would love to see the fam take matters into their own hands and arrange their own tribute/memorial. The healing and closure shouldn't be in other people's hands.

Rooting for you guys biggrin

Well, First Avenue still doesn't have anything on their schedule for the main room that night. I wouldn't be surprised if they're holding out like the rest of us but maybe they have something cooking if we get official word that the tribute is a no go. I wonder if they'd be willing to even hint at something like that should they be asked. Maybe I should reach out to them tomorrow.

Agreed, but hindsight is 20/20. This is where we are now. So, those of us who already made plans, will come, will celebrate HIM and will be a support system for eachother. Nothin but Love Baby!

Yeah that what I hope people are going to do. If people would look further they should know events are planning with PP Tour and I think a movie gathering. That what I would do if I was in that situation.

And also the estate plan their cards right and make another attempt to plan the tribute around April, they can get more acts willing to do it. Some acts the estate might wanted likely weren't available for oct 13 due to contract obligations with other gigs.

I found it a bit inappropriate when Londell changed his Twitter icon to a picture of Prince and himself. And all the bio bit about Prince. Unless he's paid the judgment rendered against him, which he appealed and lost, he owes >$500k to his now bankrupt law firm. That's not chump change.

So it sounds like we may be getting news within the next 24 hours? Apparently The Door PR/marketing agency is now taking over management of this event. But with less than a month to go and transition to a new firm I don't have a good feeling about this.

Let's hope the promised news won't be a postponement or cancellation. Although, I don't know if you can technically postpone or cancel something that has not actually been scheduled.

Looks like Londell isn't in charge of the Tribute anymore. Maybe that's why he's been so quiet on Twitter.
