I was reading an old clip this morning about LiveNation and AEG having their own tribute shows after the family tribute show. I wonder if those shows will go on. Why don't they wait until next June? Celebrate his life (yes, he didn't celebrate birthdays anymore, but ...). That would allow enough time to properly plan every detail.

I've also been thinking that next year there should be a big birthday tribute concert. Instead of this rushed, chaotic concert, I wish the family had just planned a nice, dignified public memorial for Prince. Like Michael Jackson's, it could have been televised. That's what the fams are really clamouring for. But I guess it's too late for that now. Since they have announced this HUGE tribute concert in a stadium, no less, they need to deliver. Otherwise, they will sully Prince's good name and damage his brand, which has always been synonymous with class.

It's a little late now.....many have already planned this trip. Something needs to happen that night (10/13)

I found a story on hypebot.com, from June 2016. But it has appeared in other media sites.

Agreed. At this point, Londell needs to make a public statement or, at the very least, issue a press release. The cryptic tweets are getting old.

Yeah he needs to be real with people now instead of acting positive whilst not really saying anything. When he told people to start making plans people figured it was organised & announcements were imminent. It's a joke & Prince deserves better than this. They may as well wait until next year. Then again people were advised to make preparations & many have!!

I know I sound like a broken record on this but Prince isn't Michael Jackson and most celebrities don't have memorial services for fans. Does anyone really think Prince would have wanted a memorial service on TV? Heck no. This concert was supposed to be a place for the fans to grieve and celebrate his life. I honestly don't think it has to happen now. Postpone it until next year when something proper that isn't rushed can be done right. Other than die hard fans my guess is most people have forgotten about it so I think they could easily postpone it. Honestly I wish they wouldn't have announced it when they clearly didn't have stuff in place (like an agreement with US Bank Stadium). That was a mistake.

No way I would have planned a trip without more concrete information (like who's performing, when tickets go on sale etc).

Sorry but thats easy for you to say. There are many that have booked trips because they told us to book because the event was happening.

I'm not defending how they handled this at all. I'm just saying if it was me no way would I have booked airfare or hotel without more concrete information, like when tickets go on sale or who would be performing. Of course I feel bad for anyone who did if this ends up not happening. That's why I called this whole thing a shit show.

And now Londell tweeted BrownMark to contact him and another tweet that it's a big week ahead. So I'm going to make a guess that concert details and ticket sales will be announced next week. But it's all very weird.

I can't argue with that, jaynoonan. LOL. I just hope the Cleveland tribute with Sheila and Morris doesn't dissuade too many fams from coming to Minni.

I certainly won't even though Londell & co. are still claiming Purple Rain will fall out of the sky. Still no real information on the concert. Plus, how are you gonna fill a 50,000 capacity stadium in three or four weeks? Maybe, MAYBE, Prince could have come close to it... But if Londell builds it without Prince, "they" will not come...

Well Dr. Funkenberry is stirring the pot on Twitter. Some people aren't happy as they think it's not helping the situation. I'd love to know who's in charge of this concert. I can't believe it's all on the shoulders of Londell. Where is Live Nation or AEG?

That would have been so much better for all. I have had my doubts about the family and how they were going to pull this off. I thought Londell assistance would make it run smoother but now I have plane tickets and the concert may not happen. One day I am going to have to start a thread to fully express myself.

Of course, but no public announcements should have been made until all the details were ironed out and plans finalized. It didn't have to be handled this way.
