Well Prince did send some stuff like that the MJ in the 80s to mess with him
Didn't Karen work for Warner Brothers and directly with Prince Sheila E and other artists?

lol What do U think she should do with the stuff?

I realize these pieces might be considered "minor" by big collectors, but don't places like the Hard Rock Cafe chain, casinos, etc., buy from people who collected items over the years? The artists don't - at least I don't think they do - give over memorabilia for free. I gave bootlegs (which I had purchased) - not of Prince - to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame a couple of years ago because I didn't want them to be lost. Should she have donated these items to the Hall? Really, she isn't a spring chicken. Let her make the money now.

People need to get a grip. She wasn't a fan she was an ex employee so there's no sentimentality there. She may think the stuff would be better off going to a fan who would appreciate it than laying gathering dust. And if she's "cashing in" on his death then so what! Maybe she needs the money for something? Who are we to judge? So, if I sold a rare Prince record on EBay tomorrow, am I cashing in? Should I give the proceeds to charity? Get real. There's always a rainbow 🌈 , at the end of every rain ☔️

I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, why shouldn't she sell them? I suspect Prince knew she had some stuff and that eventually she would want to do something with it. None of it is too revealing so I doubt he was worried.
On the other hand, it feels a bit icky to auction off items taken from a job like this. I could understand if her children sold items after she's gone because there's only so much of that stuff you can hang on to (provided she has kids). Just doesn't have a positive feeling about it now, though. It feels like she didn't leave on the best of terms so that could be playing into the way it feels.
I could even see selling them if she tried to donate them to PP or a local MN museum or library. And, who knows, maybe she tried.
In the end, I've no right to judge.

Amazing item. A collectors dream. Of course it'll be overlooked by most people on this thread who would rather be bitching about the ethics of the sale.

-/ I never said she should never sell anything. I think the Voodoo doll she kept off this auction it is warped and makes her look like a fruit loop. That being said some of you carrying on like she is about to live in the streets. You know she could donate some to the African America History museum which only had one tambourine for his display.

Laurarichardson, let me tell you about donations. Because the bootlegs I donated to the Hall of Fame were from the 60s and 70s, and featured Dylan, Springsteen and Crosby, Stills & Nash, I thought I could deduct a certain (higher) amount of money from my taxes. Wrong! I ended up basically with what I paid for them, which wasn't a lot. I am a broken record here, but she should get what she can right now. Strike while the iron is hot, so to speak.

eh let fans own it, or send it to Paisley Park, that stuff wouldn't be as appreciated anywhere else, and most people wouldn't see it at the AAH Museum

I wonder if Prince was worried about his tax write-offs when he paid for people's funerals and medical bills?

It's one thing to share stories and photos but to sell stuff after he's passed, like she is and Susannah is doing, is opportunistic and tacky IMO. . Maybe they need the money so I shouldn't judge

How so? It's shows the buisness aspect of having a band at this level. As for the ethics of the sale. I don't see anything wrong with making this available to serious collectors. It's not like Krattinger is making a fortune. The wooh is on the one!

oh come on... paul said it offers a glimps in the dynamics of Prince and the band, She was Prince's assistant, she probably had 1000s of notes and stuff from there time And if you've seen Karens FB she has definately moved on, all over the world, and is enjoying it...

I wonder what the copyright issues would be for some of this...like the unreleased "Camille"?
Just curious. I really don't know.

It doesn't bother me that someone else is doing so w/ such an item, but damn, if Prince ever sent me a voodoo doll I would hold onto that shit forever. Hang it from the rearview mirror, take him to concerts, movies...anything but sell! Pretty cool item if authentic.

I got my timed passes for Sept. 24th! Edited to add: For the record, the proper name is the Smithsonian Institute's National Museum of African American History and Culture, hundreds of thousands will see the musuem displays - including the tambourine from Prince's Nude Tour. On a way side note: I recall hearing Prince do Blue Motel Room @ a show later on. I think he was singing. Can't remember the title of said boot or exact dates, etc. Pvault says something about Wembley Arena n Elisa Dease singing . For all time I am with you, you are with me.
