I still can't get over the fact that he was left ALONE.

I keep hearing people say this. Prince was very singular minded, independent and surrounded himslef with yes people. He often wanted privacy. When he said "leave", they did. When he said "get in here and do this or that" they did. They were his employees probably even more than they were his friends since he was so guarded.

It's 20/20 hindsight and too easy in retrospect to say "well, a REAL friend would have done THIS or THAT." Also, if he WAS an addict, nothing anyone could have done would have stopeed him from using if he wanted to. Shit, especially a man with his means.

You are right he was a man of means but a true friend would have never have helped him get drugs. If this was someone close to him I cannot see how they can look at themselves in the mirror.

No I just think you are a lazy ass and not capable of thinking. If various media outlets have said Dr.S is a critical care doctor don't you think they might be on to something perhaps the Dr.had actually told people he is a critical care Dr. At this point he has been interviewed by law enforcement so I think we don't need your stamp of approval. What we do know is he is not a pain management doctor.

So, i havent read through most of this thread yet... Ignore this if it's already been stated.

We are all making the assumption that Prince didnt mislabel the drugs himself. Maybe he previously had a hydrocodone prescription and later obtained a fentanyl script and choose to disguise the pills. As we all keep hearing, fentanyl is hard core and if anyone on his team was aware that he was talking pain killers then I'm sure they would have asked him about the switch and maybe he wanted to keep things as private as he could.

I just saw a news report that mentioned fentanyl in vit c and aspirin bottles.. unfortunately I'm quite sure that he didn't believe that he was talking vit-c and maybe no one else disguised the pills but him.

No, I think various media outlets are lazy if they aren't reporting the most accurate information. Dr S has been practicing as a family medicine physician, or primary care. If he has critical care training, that's another thing but he wasn't currently practicing as a critical care physician. Get it right, Laura. I'm hardly the lazy one here, I can cite about three more things you've been claiming/stating on this very thread that are wrong yet you don't bother to research anything yourself to discover that. And what does 'my stamp of approval' mean? What are you going on about? And I never said he was a pain management doctor so get that right too. Good grief.

Also, calm down. BTW I hadn't called you any names nor insulted you before you started insulting me...you really come off as a rude, defensive person.

It sounds like the pills themselves were mis-labeled. I'm not sure how Prince could do that. Also one of the reports claimed tests showed he didn't have fentanyl in his system prior which would lead me to believe he thought he was taking something else. That would jive with the medical examiner calling the death accidental. And could also be why this killed him and nothing prior did.

It was reported that the pills that contained Fentanyl and other substances were actually stamped as Hydrocodone. Meaning the actual ID stamp on the pill "Watson 385" - not the label on a prescription bottle. So Prince (and possibly whomever he got them from) would have just thought they were Hydrocodone. Prince probably didn't have a clue. The drug dealers/cartels are manufacturing the counterfeit pills this way and they are DEADLY. It was also reported Prince did not have any prescriptions for opiods in MN during the last 12 months.

Why can't anyone READ?!

The pills were made to look like generic Vicodin. The actual pills - not the bottles. It doesn't matter a damn what kind of bottle the pills were in - some were in aspirin bottles, there was at least one Aleve bottle. The problem is that the PILLS were not as billed. In other words, they were NOT generic Vicodin. They were bogus hydrocodone laced with fentanyl and other shit.

My guess is that Prince put the pills in the other bottles - so those around him wouldn't know he was taking anything stronger than simple OTC pain relievers. Again - the kind of bottle doesn't matter. The fact that the pills were not what they were supposed to be is the issue.

And they didn't say how many there were - so it's possible that there was just a pill or two in various locations. And if they didn't test each and every one, we don't know that some of the pills weren't legit. The only ones we know were real (as opposed to counterfeit) were the ones that were a prescription for someone else. It's possible he just got the stuff mixed up.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Thank you. I was gonna post it if someone else didn't. "Oh my stars and garters? Not WEED?!" What teh fuck year is this again? You guys act like people were banging junk with rusty needles filled with toilet water.

Good lord, this thread is insane. It's clear from the tone of it that many people are "zero tolerance" types and appraently have never ever met a functioning, high acheiving memeber of society who ever smoked pot, dropped LDS or took pain pills. It's expressed in the inherent defensiveness of people inventing reasons why Prince was murdered instead of believing what's staring them right in the face: that dude had a problem.

Doesn't make him a "junkie" and there's no reason to be so binary in the judgement. At least for me there's not. A lot of my favorite friends and artists have used drugs. Some had problems. Some died. Prince accidentally overdosing doesn't for one second lessen anything he did in his life and jumping through to hoops to dismiss the obvious is a diservice to responisble drug users and addicts alike.

Quick poll: For all the "he was murdered" people: What are your thoughts on 9/11, Building 17 and the moon landing?

Thanks for solving that mystery. Crazy place this thread.

intensivist means that he has had xtra training in a critical care filed at some point, it does not mean that he was a critical care doctor, he was practicing general medicine

It came up when discussing if Dr S was "in over his head" treating P (I am sure he would not have taken him as a patient if that was the case). I had seen it referenced before, checked it (http://www.wellness.com/dir/1781758/intensivist/mn/howard-lake/michael-t-schulenberg-md) and said he was an intensivist and so I said he was unlikely to be out of his depth. I also attached the definition from here I think (https://www.umassmemorialhealthcare.org/umass-memorial-medical-center/services-).

.

If it is a different Dr S then my apologies

Wow this thread is insane! The most plausible and rational explanation at this point in time is that Prince was addicted to prescription pain killers and overdosed on black market pills laced with fentanyl. He hid the pills in various bottles and places and this had been going on for a while. Given he got into trouble the week before he died, this is just reckless. The morale of the story: One, don't buy into the public persona, he was human after all. And two, life is short so focus on having close famliy and friends you can trust and love you for the person you are. As Prince's cousin said, be free to say to your next of kin - hey I am not feeling well, help me.

Yep to this.. Its almost as if no one on here has done drugs before..The quid pro quo in street drugs is you accept the inherant risk that you just might lose your life as you dont know what you are getting.. In a one mile radious last week in WV 30 people OD in a 24 hr period.. Whether it was spiked or not is irrelevant, hat is relevant is that they and Prince wanted to take illict and lllegal drugs..Not casting judgement as i have a weed one hitter in my hand now

Don't overdose on it!
