We don't know what was going on with Prince physically wise. Ok he did not have a bunch of cosmetic surgeries. He still put his body through a lot. His image was important to him. The whole work 2x as hard to get half the credit, he worked hard and definitely wanted the credit, he pushed his body. Pain could have been coming from a lot of sources. Fentanyl is the last ditch effort after everything else has been tried and we still don't know where he got it that can't be completely ignored. [Edited 8/6/16 8:00am]
Something with the Fentanyl does not add up to me. I have wondered if someone else slipped it to him? On the plane Judith mentioned she never saw him take anything, he ate then had the blank stare...could this drug have been put in his food? On Apr 20 we don't know what he did ...maybe something similar happen then he was dropped off.

We heard he had a save shot so hospital must known he'd overdosed on something.

Also if someones slipping him stuff, then why all the appointments with the addiction/pain doctors.

He was an intelligent man, if someone was slipping him stuff pretty sure he would have suspected that, after all he would know when he took stuff and when he didnt.

Adorecream

Around the same time he grew or got that afro, he went from handsome and debonair looking like he is in his 30s, to a Black Phil Spector.

.

Definitely not 2012 - when I saw him in Melbourne, he was leaping around the stage and dancing up a storm, so at least 2013.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Every thread posted would inevitably take a turn for the worse with certain people hijacking the thread with their negative comments. I couldn't help but think that must hurt when Prince read comments on here. I wish we knew more about what was going on at the time, but that was his penchant for secrecy. Someone in his circle must know, was it cancer, some other chronic illness, just plain addiction? I guess we may never know.
I think people felt they could control him through those threads, they really went beyond expressing an opinion or constructive critizism, they really started going for jugular. It was crazy at times. Doesn't matter now anyway.

I dont think this has anything to do with anything.

The man spent most of his life in the limelight of the entertainment industry.

An industry and a position where you must have thick skin cause every single person in the limelight gets criticism/negativity as well as praise/adoration no matter how good they are.

He probably had the negative stuff all his career as well as the adoration so i dont see how some peoples negative comments here could touch him.

He was a determined, driven single minded artist that did what he wanted to do.

The guy was renowned as a musical genius and one most talented artists ever, pretty sure he knew that and was accustomed all his career to having critics as well.

Thank you very much for sharing. That was a neat interview.

Ok, yeah, the interview said they prepared meals for him at PP everyday and sometimes on the road, but where did it say anything about what he was served on the plane that day? Don't be put ideas out about this nice couple.

I didn't put any ideas on this couple at all. I simply responded to a post about who was on the plane with him.

Neither of them were on the plane that day. They were at PP he didn't eat the last meal they prepared for him.

Agree he was an intelligent man.
Could be wrong but....Thought he did not see any of the "addiction drs" just his Minnesota dr. Others called them (IMO that is a bs story too) for help...stating P was in grave danger and the drs son flew in on the 20 th but waited until the 21st when it was too late.
This might be a stretch but...
He could have suspected someone on the plane and sent them away ....

The more I read; the more I think; the more convinced I am that it was liver damage / disease (aka cirrhosis) that was ultimately behind his untimely demise.

.

I posted my thoughts / reasoning on the 'Acquaintance who dropped off P' thread...Yes, it's all speculation but there are so many indications that support it, I find it hard to drop as a theory.

.

It would even explain the strange lapse into unconsciousness on the 'plane and the citing of fentanyl toxicity as 'cause of death'.

Okay, if you say so. I'd figure they'd be there but I guess they weren't. As far as his last meal, I never said Prince ate it. Again, I was simply replying to a post hoping to clarify who was there or not on the plane with him, just like I helped fellow orger Bunsterdk find a photo he was looking for.

I like keeping things correct and straight also, it's too easy to get caught up in heresay.

I really appreciate you posting the video, it was nice to see their faces. They were one of the first people in the inner circle who gave some insight in the beginning of all this,` their first interview was very much valued around these parts.

I hear you...Personally, I do want to know...Maybe that's selfish of me, but I just want to understand WHY we lost this man - and the notion of him just 'accidentally happening to take an overdose of fentanyl, out of the blue' doesn't cut it - for me, anyway. It doesn't 'fit' with who he was, how he lived, what he represented - at least to my mind...I just need clarity as to how he got to that point, if only to give meaning to something that seems so arbitrary, so senseless, so terribly sad... sad

I honestly don't want to know. It's not going to bring him back so what's the point? That's one reason I don't speculate on anything. It's just guessing based on little verified information. It's nobody's business but the family's and I hope they keep it private.

So, I saw him 3 times in 2014 and once in 2015, which was his last ever UK show, the Autism Rocks show. He was on fire in 2014, and I think if there was something wrong at that time, it was early days. 2015 however..... Something wasn't quite right and I could never quite put my finger on it. It felt like something was weighing on his mind, and it felt like it took time for he and the girls to get into the groove, so to speak. I don't know if anyone else felt like that, and I didn't say anything at the time because I second guessed myself and thought maybe it was just me, maybe it felt different because it was a charity event and the fans got treated as second class citizens compared to the celebrities who were allowed to be in front of the stage..... But I remember leaving that gig feeling different somehow. It just wasn't the same as it had been the previous year, or any of the other times I saw him, and I'm not sure why. I think either he had developed some kind of illness or the chronic pain got a lot worse throughout 2014.

Did you go to Leeds?

The experience you describe at Autism Rocks is exactly how I felt at Leeds in 2014. He was on fire in Manchester so I put it down to him just having a bad day. I do wonder on reflection.

if that was the pic from that awards show, it was telling that he had a guitar for no reason, it's like he wanted to distract from himself. Honestly, some of those pics break my heart and I almost wish he hadn't done those shows.

On youtube, the Charlotte 2011 world tour video, is the heaviest I've seen Prince. On the RnR Love Affair video where is just starting to perhaps grow the afro, he is very subdued imo. Just observations. I believe he stayed true to the lifestyle he said he lived. Seems like he was still all about the music. People close to him would have said had things changed, i.e. he was drinking, smoking, whatever. Why do we keep going there and half dragging him through the mud when he's not here to say one way or the other nor are those in the know going to say anything right now. Maybe down the road they will. I was wondering as well whether he had a confidante and hoping so...although some people like to keep things to themselves regardless. Seems like since he was so spiritual that he found peace to deal with whatever it MAY have been through his faith.

Can't do anything about that, sadly. Tabloids are tabloids and websites that need clicks will publish anything to get them.

The Grammys was great. Got a standing ovation and I loved the statement he made about albums still matter. Perfect crowd to deliver that message to. If you look at these events, concerts, interviews etc. even though there was a noticeable change appearance wise and maybe something seemed a bit off he was still totally with it and never sounded like someone strung out on anything.

I keep going back to the thought that if he was suffering from an illness, for which he needed (additional?) pain medication, did he not have anyone to share the journey with? I am not talking about a girlfriend, I am talking about someone he could sincerely and honestly confide in, someone to be a comfort to him. The idea of him being all alone through this is heartbreaking. And I am one of those people who wants to know the whole truth, not just bits and pieces.

It's just a combo of pain and age. The guy was mid fifties when he started to lose weight. He already ate like a bird. Throw pain killers in to the mux and his appetite would be decimated.
I think the info we have been given medically is enough to answer this speculation.
There is no reason to speculate on other health issues

This is how I see it. There's so much speculation on the boards! Many fans/fams have *decided* he had a terminal illness! I have many friends in the 55-60 age range and he looked much better than most. Truly. As to his eyes... He wore heavy eyeliner, and that ages eyes when a person reaches 50s. I think he was quite handsome at 57.

The Enquirer article that said he had AIDS also said he weighed 80 lbs and the autopsy report said what, 120 or so? Big difference. He was thin, but many vegetarians or low carb eaters are very thin. So there's not a shred of credible evidence or testimony ANYWHERE that he had HIV or AIDS.

I don't know if he was depressed or not, he sounded okay to me. Several people who were not from his entourage who saw him in the days before his death -- the woman who took phone video of him riding a bike, a young man who worked in a record store he went to, and the owner and workers at the jazz club he visited -- said he seemed perfectly normal and looked healthy. He may have battled depression, but he also had many, many people who loved him. So there's not a shred of evidence that he would commit suicide.

Long-term opioid use (for pain or whatever, doesn't really matter) and attempts at opiate withdrawal -- which clearly he had been making, perhaps for some months or years -- are plenty to explain all of his symptoms, including vomiting and weight loss.

It's puzzling why people make him out to be a victim of... something. We DO know that he was a chronic pain sufferer. People who take opiates are at high risk for accidental overdose. Somewhere around 15,000-20,000 people die each year from prescription opiates (heroin is separate). This would be the category Prince fell into.

The speculation does no one any good. It does not bring him back.

Folks here are really good people. I hope my thoughts don't wound anyone, that's not my intent. But these speculative posts leave me scratching my head. His passing is sad, yes. But he's with God, if you believe in God. It does not matter what his faith was... he's with God. He left us with an ocean of great music. He deserves credit for being a strong individual, a wildly successful artist. Deciding he must have had a terminal illness and/or killed himself seems a little bit disrespectful to me.
