Yeah, I know Dr. Drew made comment it could have been a seizure. Or maybe not. The Moline Hospital isn't saying a word, I noticed.

The hospital probably can't say much due to HIPAA privacy regulations.

In 2009, he wasn't looking that healthy, at least from the footage in his LA concerts.
Really? He looked damn fine during 2010-2011.

I agree with you that he looked great in 2011. There is this video on YouTube of him performing "The Love We Make" at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 2011. The guitar solo is AMAZING...He was absolutely making love to his guitar!!! I've watched the video dozens of times. He has something on one of his fingers; not sure if it's a bandage or a ring. But otherwise, he looks healthy, vibrant, young for his age, and energetic.

Well it may be a coincidence, but in August 2014 Denise Matthews posted her last pic on IG. It was a picture of Prince and she titled it "dangerously. It may be a coincidence or could have meant something else.

I've been thinking about this too. Thing is you can be dealing with things on the inside for a number of yrs b4 they become really noticeable on the outside. Also P was pretty & as far as we know lived a healthy life, & had funds 4 the best of everything. I just hope he wasn't in chronic pain or illness or struggling with pain relief for too long.

I think it is fair to ask if Prince was also dealing with a lot of emotional pain. He also dealt with a lot of trauma in his life.

* He dealt with abandonment issues in childhood.

* His son died as an infant, he and Mayte suffered a miscarriage, and Prince never had any other children.

* He went through the divorce with Mani in 2006 that he did not want.

* His parents died in the early 2000s.

* A couple of his siblings died, I think in the last 10 years.

* His contemporaries MJ and Whitney died in the last 7 years.

* Denise (Vanity) died in 2016.

I hesitate to bring up this subject because it is so touchy, but I think that it did have an impact on him even later in life. Prince clearly wanted children, and I think that if a person wants children, that desire doesn't go away until it is satisfied. Prince was SO looking forward to having a family in his late 30s, but because he and Mayte lost 2 babies, in his 50s, he had this huge musical legacy and millions of fans, but no children. I think people don't want to talk about this because it is such a sad subject, but it just makes so much sense that the pain of losing a child still had an impact on him into his late 50s.

--

I know a couple of people who lost infants. A good family friend lost her infant son about 20-25 years ago to SIDS. It is still painful for her to talk about to this day. However, she has 4 other children (2 who are older than the son who died and 2 who are younger).

--

My grandmother (God rest her soul) lost her only biological child, Margaret, when Margaret was a newborn. My gma was born in the early 20s and her daughter Margaret was born in the late 1930s/early 1940s. I believe that she was born premature and in those days, being a premie was often a death sentence. My gma died in 2006, when she was 83. Till the end of her life, she still carried her daughter's social security card in her wallet. My grandma and grandpa adopted my mother and my sister and I, her two grandchildren, brought her great joy. But she never forgot her daughter Margaret.

--

I share these stories because I don't think that the pain of losing a child just goes away. Even with grief counseling, it stays with the person. There is even a scientific research study called Long-Term Effects of the Death of a Child on Parents’ Adjustment in Midlife (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2841012/). The study's abstract says the following: "The death of a child is a traumatic event that can have long-term effects on the lives of parents. This study examined bereaved parents of deceased children (infancy to age 34) and comparison parents with similar backgrounds (n = 428 per group) identified in the Wisconsin Longitudinal Study. An average of 18.05 years following the death, when parents were age 53, bereaved parents reported more depressive symptoms, poorer well-being, and more health problems and were more likely to have experienced a depressive episode and marital disruption than were comparison parents. Recovery from grief was associated with having a sense of life purpose and having additional children but was unrelated to the cause of death or the amount of time since the death."

I think that just like the physical pain caught up with Prince, so did the emotional pain from all of the traumas he experienced, especially the loss of Ahmir.

Aww your grandma, very touching. I know personally that traumas & heartbreak can manifest in the flesh. Yes P had much loss & heartbreak from a child onwards. Everything is everything. Separation is an illusion.
"We just let people talk & say whatever they want 2 say. 9 times out of 10, trust me, what's out there now, I wouldn't give nary one of these folks the time of day. That's why I don't say anything back, because there's so much that's wrong" - P, Dec '15

It had been 3-4 years since I'd seen him on TV or in a photo, and then when the promo for his guest spot on "New Girl" came on during the 2014 Superbowl I immediately thought, "That's not Prince. How weird they're saying that actor is Prince."

Now, as I'm looking so many pictures of him at different ages, I keep focusing on the way he was using makeup on his eyebrows as time passed; it made a big difference in his appearance.

When I saw him on New Girl, my first thought was that he was beginning to show some aging. Still, he looked good do not get me wrong. I have not been in the Prince circle for some time. Occasionally I would check in to see the latest and greatest.

I remember some time ago there was an interview in a magazine (he had on his furry boots) and I was amazed at how much photoshopping was done. Some of his makeup reminded me of Lovesexy promo pics with the large amount of makeup.

Maybe Prince just had a hard time accepting the aging process. I don't know. I know the recent photos of layered clothing, long sleeves, turtle necks, gloves was wierd. He seemed so constrained. His clothes always were "free flowing" in my opinion. I am not saying at 57 he should be wearing the Parade digs either. His cheeks looked sunken, but that could be makeup as well. We may never know.

I'm going to say this once and never say it again. He looked like an alien to me. Don't get me wrong he was pretty and etheral and all that. But it creeped me the heck out.

I shall never speak of it again. zipped

Do you have a source regarding the makeup change?

The first reason that comes to mind is to cut down on costs. It is cheaper to do one's makeup than to hire a makeup artist.
If he did start doing his own makeup, this may account for some of the change in appearance. When I got married, I had my makeup professionally done. The makeup artist applied liquid foundation using a sprayer. Someone else has to use the sprayer; the sprayer does not really work for DIY makeup as I understand. So the change in the method of applying the makeup could have been a factor in him looking different. I'm not a makeup specialist, but what I have written is certainly worth considering, I think.

I don't - other than I've read it in lots of different places, none of which I can now recall (I'm sorry sad ). I have seen a pic of him applying it himself, mind...I think it's one with either Damaris or Judith Hill (again, forgive me; I can't recall which one of them it was).

I think Prince had a couple of close friends, particlualry Kirk Johnson. I do not believe he had anything to do with Prince's death. I believe he may have the most knowledge of Prince's personal life.

It seems pain pills are hooking a lot of people. I think a lot of people take them for the right reasons, but just get hooked. That is scary. Pain meds really worry me. My heart goes out to those who really need them to mangage pain. I am not judging or criticizing anyone.

I think Prince may have just gotten in over his head. He took the meds as prescribed and needed. Prince was in good health. He was a tiny dude. I think due to his size, his eating habits, his threshold for pain may be lower. Over time, the body slows. This man worked non-stop for decades. I mean worked exahustively. Bands had a hard time keeping up.

I think he pushed and pushed. It caught up with him, not in a bad way. Just how things work. His pain from his hips maybe increased. It could be a combination, his small frame, increased pain and meds level.

I do not think Kirk or Prince's family will talk and release intitimate details about Prince. Too much respect.

I am trying to process this like all of us. Prince did seem to be making mends to those in his past. We are trying to make sense of this. Everything is under a microscope. We are second guessing everything Prince did. Not in a bad way.

I do not believe those who were close will divulge anything. At times, it seems like a nightmare to me. I am amazed by Prince, his artistry, his philanthropy, etc. His passing was quick. It is hard to process. Literally, here one day and gone the next.

I am resolved that we will never know if there was any underlying issues in Prince's health. He was a mystery alive and his death continues in the same facade.

I totally agree that Kirk knows a lot, but Just is not sharing. And there is nothing wrong with that. It would not surprise me if Kirk has some feelings of guilt about not doing enough to help Prince. He was with Prince more than Just about anyone.
--
I also believe that Damaris knew generally what was going on with Prince, good and bad. When she did an interview with CNN, the interviewer asked about Prince's health and Damaris basically said that she was not going to comment because he was a private person and wants to respect his privacy. And I respect her desire to keep his business private. But it was clear in the interview that she knew more than she was willing to share. In that interview, she spoke more about her friendship with Prince than his health issues. http://blackamericaweb.co...spiration/

It's been said that Prince was an expert at applying makeup, he wore it everyday not just on stage. I think even Mayte said he'd do hers sometimes. Did his own hair at times. Maybe he just wanted to do stuff himself and not be in celebrity mode all the time.

You are absolutely correct about the photo. I have seen the photo to which you refer. It is of he and Damaris. It is from Damaris's Instagram account. The caption says something like "Damaris and Prince take Paris." (I would have checked this photo on my laptop, but my husband hid my laptop because I've been doing too much on the Internet, namely this site, haha.)

I have no problem with Kirk and Damaris respecting Prince's privacy. I agree with you about Kirk may have some inner guilt with could of should of would of. I think he was a genuine friend and was with Prince for that, not the fame or publicity.

I originally did not care for Kirk when I met him in my hometown after a concert. The band was at a movie theater after the show, and I went up to him just to briefly say hi. He brushed me aside and passed. Back then, I took it the wrong way.

As I have grown older, I see that in a different light. He took care of Prince. I see him as acting security and handling Prince's affairs and travel. I am sure he was the last person to see him alive. My heart goes to him for what he is feeling and had to experience.

It is nice to know, that Prince did at least have 1 genuine friend, if not more. He was not as alone as most of us think in that aspect.

Damaris Lewis and Kim Berry both confirmed that he did his own make-up, but neither stated that he JUST started doing his own make-up. Hell, Damaris wouldn't know anyway, she wasn't born until 1990 lol. P's make-up in the 90s looks just like it was done by him. I call it the 'crazed Liza Minelli look' with that that uber pale foundation. I wonder if he lined up his own facial hair. I doubt it, unless it was the little handle bar mustache. I'm sure Kim used to trim his beard and his goatee.

Yes the physical different between being 52 y/o and 55 y/o is noticable for a lot of people. It's called aging.

I totally agree that Kirk knows a lot, but Just is not sharing. And there is nothing wrong with that. It would not surprise me if Kirk has some feelings of guilt about not doing enough to help Prince. He was with Prince more than Just about anyone. -- I also believe that Damaris knew generally what was going on with Prince, good and bad.

No doubt Kirk isn't sharing anything because his criminal defense attorney has told him to keep his mouth shut smile

Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end nod

all these people will talk if we go with history. Elvis' people all talked eventually, some of them had some fucked up theories too, for what reason? I don't know. Elvis' stepbrother tried to say Elvis committed suicide, Kathy Westmoreland to this day insists that Elvis told her that he was dying from Bone Cancer, the rest, most of whom were closer, know that it was the drugs that ruined his health.

I still think with Michael we'll get more answers with time, I think his accusers will eventually come out and if there were others who were molested they will come out too. My personal feeling is that Michael didn't do it. Child Molestors are voracious and don't just leave 2 or 3 people accusing them, they leave dozens.

I agree. Anyone who has struggled with the pain of achy joints, that keeps you up at night and makes it difficult to move during the day, understands. It's exhausting both physically and in spirit. The pain pills are needed for the pain, but create an entire new set of issues. I've seen two people in my life slowly die from overdose/liver issues due to years of taking these medications. They can be a double-edged sword. Dealing with and living with chronic pain is walking a tight-rope and falling off the edge happens to so many. It makes me sad to think how this vibrant, energetic genius had to be crushed down with chronic pain and all the struggles that go with it.
