How would fans feel if Prince had a wife when he passed? Maybe we'd feel better about all this

I've been thinking about this too. Thing is you can be dealing with things on the inside for a number of yrs b4 they become really noticeable on the outside. Also P was pretty & as far as we know lived a healthy life, & had funds 4 the best of everything. I just hope he wasn't in chronic pain or illness or struggling with pain relief for too long.
I guess a person can only keep things/illnesses to themselves for so long then they start to show physically. I also hope he wasn't in pain for years and that he had someone to confide in/trust.

ditto that

Before his death and before discovering his career, I thought he looked at nice. I remember the Grammys Awards. But now seeing all the pics of him through the years it really seems like something changed in 2013. The physical difference between 2010 and 2013 is noticeable.

The pics don't lie. sad

I've come to the conclusion its been slowly progressive. MJ passed in 2009. When Prince is asked to comment he states he's too close to it. What did that mean? Not really sure but given how this played out it sounds like he knew he was on the same path.

eek maybe he just thought he could change his outcome...MJ's death was so sad it bothered everybody including Prince.

All I can think is unless some major piece of info is missing, Prince didn't just out of the blue start using Fentanyl no more than MJ out of the blue started using Propofol. We just know where it started with MJ and it took many years for it to escalate. We are clueless when it started with Prince.

i wouldn't think so either but we don't know. from the sound of opiods, you can go from clean to a junkie in no time. I know a lady who took the stuff a couple weeks and was still sweating and having trouble when she quit it. i don't think most patients need anything remotely that addictive. But by and large, most serious problems and issues people have don't just come to a head overnight. Maybe all the non-drug/drink shit over the years was just image, we don't really know the man, not too many did.

Honestly, listening to some of his lyrics now, I wonder if he was telling on himself, its just that we as fans didn't associate such things with him.

ya, there are several drug references spread throughout the years, some anti, some pro, some neutral but they were there.

maybe not out and out pro, the exctasy refs, the cocaine refs that happened in the 80's. Prince also reportedly drank wine in those years even though everything in his image was clean living, i think he said he was a vegetarian back then too. His whole image was clean living and in interviews he said things like he didn't like the idea of not bein able to look out for yourself if you're high. I think he meant it at the time but people slip up, especially when you are surrounded by the shit.

A lot of people from a large variety of lifestyles drink wine. Jesus drank wine, or at least whizzed some up, most don't see it as something heavy. All drugs aren't about being high for the sake of getting high. MJ wasn't getting high, the man got to a point he couldn't sleep normally.

I was thinking this earlier. I notice the change in early 2014. He looks so damn fine with his baby afro in 2013 wink. He was obviously an older man, but he looked healthy and still had that light in his eyes. Something changed big time. I feel like we'll never have answers

we'll get answers, no way anyone can keep a secret these days with all this internet stuff. anyway, looking back two things keep bothering me, the songs breakdown/way back home, and the way he looked on Arsenio. In both cases I just shut it out of my mind but the signs were clear that he very well may have been on his way out. Problem was, he was great and maintaining a facade so it made it easy to deny.

Those years ago were actually decades ago. Life happens things change, and reality takes over. He went through a lot of stuff in that time.

I think something strange was happening around the time he formed 3rdeyegirl.
It seems to me that he started to act weirder than his usual:
The afro, the heavily retouched pics, the use of social media, joshua producing,4 albums in two years after a 4 years break, resign with WB,piano and mic,the memoir deal.
These could be normal happenings but combined with is suddenly ageing from 2013,weight loss and untimely death,I think it started late 2012.

I would say 2013-2014. Just as everyone else has observed. You could see the difference. Prince always looked the same, young and vibrant. But in the last two-three years something happened. I read an interview that Morris Day did and he said PP called him to do a concert with the Time. He wondered why Prince was reaching out to him now. He also said "In hindsight, you can tell he (Prince) felt or knew something was up" within three months our love was gone. From the beginning, I felt Prince knew he was leaving us.

we've been back and forth on this, i'm in the camp that believes he knew he was dying or at least thought of it as a possibility, then you have the people who insist he wasn't thinking about death because he had a new piano on order or something. On some level, he knew, just like the people who had said they knew years ago that he'd be dead soon. Add on to that the talking to dez after what was it? 3 decades or something?
