New topic PrintableI know some die-hard fans who have no interest in going to this tribute. I was a little surprised by that. It might not be that difficult to get tickets. Local folks didn't even show up when Prince himself was doing a show at Paisley Park. I know that a lot of people want to be a part of something that once was, though. I'm sure we'll all get at least 1 day notice before tickets go on sale. I'm just hoping they don't have exclusive presales for certain credit card companies. TRUE BLUE

Are you able to subscribe to notifications for a certain venue? I live in Minneapolis/St Paul and imagine I'd get the notification for the memorial tickets, but I want to be on my A game and cover all my bases. [/quote]If you go to usbankstadium.com there is a place I think at the bottom where you can subscribe to get their notices. If I remember there are two different subscriptions one is for the u.s. bank events and one is for the Viking events. So you want the u.s. bank events. Or both if you're a Vikings fan. But also since you're there in the magical City where we will be, if you find out in another way please let us know.

Hopefully enough people want to go to make it worth while but also the tickets are still easy to get. Such a catch 22. I can't imagine living within minutes of PP and not going to see Prince every chance I got. I always thought about trying to go but it always seemed impossible to know when he would perform or if there was a chance to get in. When u are 9 hrs away, U don't have many options. I'm not sure if I think that would be something that the family would want to do. If I were in a position like that, I would not want to let those people get preferences because we are all equally fans. And in my case I don't even own a credit card. And The Purple One is magical to me. I can't even imagine being able to go to a concert at Paisley Park and not going. I don't even know what words to say to that if the person was a Prince fan.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone purchased the ear clip that Prince War all the time? I even gave them to his band members to wear. It's a moon with 7 cubic zirconia stones in it. He wore it almost constantly since he had them made. He also gave them out to people at some of his concerts at Paisley Park. If you don't know what I'm talking about I can post a link. I would love to wear mine butt they are so expensive and I think so easily able 2 taken right off your ear in a crowd Andy stolen. They are so so beautiful

Sorry about all my typos but I dictate my emails and everything else that I can and I don't usually go back to fix them unless I see them as I go along. If I speak too quickly it tends to get words wrong. If you can't figure out anything just ask me.

I love that ear thing he wears. I say wear it (perfect occasion) but then again I understand your worries about getting lost or stolen. I would still wear mine if I had one and it were me. I missed one party/concert since he opened PP back up in 2013. It was in April 2014 and he was having issues with his guitar and only played four songs. For the out of towners it would have been difficult to come, with most events being announced the day before or less. I guess he figured if he gave a few days notice, they wouldn't have been able to accomodate everyone. TRUE BLUE

I'm very confused because I came in on this conversation very very late. Are these other movies the matinee on Friday? I just assumed that the Friday matinee was the same movies just giving people another time to view them. But if they are different movies that I want to go but with them being on Friday The Paisley Park tour I want to go to is on Friday so I need to know the time of the matinees.

Thank you for all of the information! I hope to be there. I assume we will be paying at the door and not in advance. This will be cool!

The matinee on Friday is the other two Prince movies. When mentioning it as another option for people coming in later and therefore missing Wednesday's event, I meant as as a 2nd option for those to attend a Fam event - as opposed to a second of the same two. If there is a lot of interest for UTCM/SOTT I can look into other options but will stick with these two for now hopefully that it works out for most people. Dance where y'are, just groove y'all.

I am wondering who are the acts for this memorial besides Mint Condition?
Because DR Funkenberry said I am not sure how reliable he is said on this but he said the revolution or the time have no plans to attend the memorial and there are some craziness of the planning.
And Sheila E has a gig on the same day. I wonder how she can be both musicial director and attending some NYC gig on the same day? I believed it is going to be hard to fill 52000 seats they should have done a smaller venue. IMO [Edited 8/26/16 11:59am]

I can't get my head around this... concert on a Thursday (work day) and no word on tickets and/or acts that are signed up. But Paisley is open for tours/tickets?
7 weeks / 47 days away. Sweet spot for flights is the 5 or 6 week period. If the estate is keeping watch on this forum, last minute flights are not inexpensive. It's possible to plan surprises without poor planning gouging people. [Edited 8/26/16 14:12pm]

From the tone of the interview the Revolution gave the Star Tribune, it sounds like Dr. Funkenberry is right about them not attending. I didn't know about Sheila E but that's really disappointing. I didn't expect them to be able to pull it off with just his bands and proteges but I was really hoping we'd see both. At this point, I'm not as concerned about the tribute. I've got my PP ticket and my UTCM/SOTT ticket. Car and flight are reserved and I'm staying with friends who are centrally located to everything Prince. I might just skip the tribute and go to the Dakota or another music venue in the city to experience music as he would have if he were still here. I'll make the call when we learn more.

To be honest, I'm not sure I expected the Revolution to be there with their upcoming Sept 2/3 events, maybe that's their way of paying tribute in Prince's memory? I dunno. Sure hope they change their mind and maybe surprise us as 'unannounced guests' that'd be cool! I'd actually love for some of it to be a surprise rather than everything to be told up front. The matinees will likely be 1230 & 2:30 (that is approximate, I haven't had time to work on the second event yet). I know that some people may not be able to go to BOTH, but hoping everyone who is interested can attend one or the other in the very least Again, I am definitely open to a second screening of this double featuring, but will only start considering this if this first one sells out and the waitlist numbers start to climb. I'm interested in attending the movies on 10/12 at 7:00pm. Can we buy the tickets prior to the event? Or will be paying at the door?

Regarding the "other events" for this sticky, the Minneapolis Star Tribune is reporting on today's "Unite in Purple" at the Minnesota State Fair in honor of Prince. The article includes photos of fans garbed in purple and artwork in tribute to Prince made out of purple seeds.
