I've been thinking about where his ashes are. It would be nice for some kind of memorial that we could visit. What if PP gets sold and torn down? There's no marker, grave site, statue. I live in Mass what if I wanted to lay flowers or something, where would I go? Where is his final resting place?

Of course all the regular suspects and band members as well. Oh and Carlos S. would be great for a few guitar solos. Just please...have a connection, not just random celebs. I know I listed a few non-connected ones, but I just hope most had a connection, worked with him or had songs written for them, etc. And obviously adding in some of his more known songs (and lots of them that the fans knew, but werent "hits" per say), I dont know who is best to sing them.

And I hope they play some videos of P talking and having fun. Prayers, etc. Totally agree, this should be a memorial, not just a typical concert.

I had planned on spending the $ and time to attend the memorial concert as I expected it to be about Prince with his fans getting together to honor him, but don't plan on it now due to it being such a money grabbing event which will be full of fans for whatever "A" listers they pay to perform. Kinda makes me sick....

People need to quit making stuff up! No lineup has been announced. No tickets have gone on sale. Calling it a money grabbing event is so disrespectful to his family and everyone else working to make this event happen. Is this about Prince or the fans? Cuz what I'm seeing is a lot of posts from fans complaining that this event isn't going to be what they wanted it to be.

Agreed. Let's just wait and see. Prince fans are very hard to please a lot of the time so I am patiently waiting on the line-up for this show before I book any flights.

Hopefully it will be along the lines of the Freddie Mercury tribute from way back. They did it right.

I'm all for the family selling official merch, etc., doing tribute shows, and making a profit. Get that money. However, only after they provide a nonmonetized vehicle for fans to properly grieve. Otherwise, I'm not here for it.

I agree. I never like that Prince <and the impact to his purple army/fam> is seemingly under-recognized, but that's what it looks like in comparison, when mentioning all these other legends that had the services but Prince hasn't. It's been 3+ months already.

That's a really good point rogifan! Might not be what he would have wanted anyway. And I think a celebration of his life, music, legacy, would be much more fitting for him.

Gosh might actually make me go to the fair this year. Haven't been in probably 15 years.

ok I am booked...I booked Hyatt downtown since it is close to stadium and many other sites I wanna visit. Plan on renting a car to do some stuff (like PP) further out....Just booked flight too!

I'm with you. A fan since I was 6, so 34 years and I've wanted to take this trip since I was in high school. That was when he was having regular fan parties at PP. My best friend and I dreamed of road tripping after graduating HS and going to PP, Glam Salm, First Ave and all the other spots. I'm planning on going whether I go to the tribute or not because I want to be in MPLS with other fans who understand. My BF has said that I need to be with "my people." I'm not sure how I feel about the concert yet but I do feel there's something special that'll go down that week. It just might not have anything to do with the tribute concert. I hope the family will open up PP for the fans to visit and pay respects while we're there for the show.

I am so glad I'm not the only one who had these feelings. How about just streaming the friend memorial service. There would be no need for anything else. That's why I watched the MJ memorial, I felt like I was there with the family and then I moved on.

The original talk I read online - not here - was that two factions of the family were fighting because they wanted to make as much money as possible from the television rights to any type of memorial. Personally, I think it is way beyond when this should have been done. October? During football season? Anyone check the NFL schedule to see if a game is scheduled that night, because sometimes they play on Thursday? Honestly, the ex-wives and BET did better by Prince than his family. And you notice no big names have been announced to participate. I just hate this. Just hate it. He deserved better. Much better.
