John L. Nelson is NOT Prince's father?

So someone alleged today that John L. Nelson is not Prince's father?

Bah. All you have to do is look at a picture of the two next to each other. Prince is definitely John Nelson's son.

Listen to the TV report in the link I posted above, it's about one minute into the video. Apparently one of the attorneys made that claim today, based in part on the fact that the judge does not have a copy of Prince's birth certificate.

If it were true, then the half-siblings who are children of John L. Nelson would lose any rights to the estate. $ has a funny way of bending the truth, huh?

Okay, thanks.

It seems weird that they claim no birth certificate. I've seen one posted right here on the org. How did he get a passport without one?

Ha, they should call Jon Bream. He has a photo copy of the Birth Certificate! Or at least he did when he wrote his Prince book back in 85.

Yes, that is what I meant. Thanks.

My point still stands, it's very odd that they judge does not have a copy of one.

It's probably in some safe deposit box along with his will.

And seriously this is "news"? It's certainly not worthy of a written article or live news story. They will twist and turn any little thing and make it into "news". Stupid. Prince has a birth certificate. Duh. So what if the judge hasn't seen it yet. I'm sure when he wants to, he will. Prince was born right here in MN. His birth certificate is not an issue.

There are so many "birther jokes" here... I don't even know where to start. Lemme try HAWAII.

I bet that photo book he did in Hawaii has a secret map to his birth certificate, you can only get to it if you pull a sword out of a purple rock.

I never met my grandpa. He was a musician apparently. Maybe better than decent guitarist I've heard, though no one speaks of him really. I used to pretend he was actually Tom Jones and Prince is my Uncle.

Where can I take a blood test?
Surprise, surprise.
Another treat. Another trick.

Two stories about today's proceedings have been posted on the Minneapolis Star-Tribune website. They contradict each other in regard to whose attorney claimed that John Nelson was not Prince's father.

One says "James Selmer represents Venita Jackson Leverette, who claims that Prince's real father was Alfred Jackson Sr. and that she is Prince's half-sister."

The other says "Darcell Johnston claims ...e papers." That contradicts reports from back in May, when she surfaced (she's the so-called "lost sister" that no one -- including the siblings -- had heard of until the probate case was filed), which said that she was claiming that Mattie Shaw was her mother but she and Prince had different fathers.

Neither article mentions the comment about the birth certificate.

\// Birth certificates are public records and you cannot get a passport without one. This is lawyers trying to run up their fees since most of the claims are bogus.

Why would the judge have a copy of Prince's birth certicate? This just became a issue today!!

Because the moving party who is making the allegations of paternity needs to include it to argue their motion if they have any sense at all.

The lawyers' motive is to run up the legal bill. I just don't see why determining the rightful heirs should be so complicated.

Even if they can't find P's birth certificate, it's a simple matter to get a copy from the state.

Well, you and I know that but as laura said, that would interfere with the $500/hr legal fees, wouldn't it? lol

It's probably in some safe deposit box along with his will.

I was wondering if the will is in a safe deposit box somewhere. The administrators say they have gone through 1000s of papers looking for a will and will give up soon. How would anyone know if or where Prince has a safety deposit box?
