Listen to the TV report in the link I posted above, it's about one minute into the video. Apparently one of the attorneys made that claim today, based in part on the fact that the judge does not have a copy of Prince's birth certificate.

If it were true, then the half-siblings who are children of John L. Nelson would lose any rights to the estate. $ has a funny way of bending the truth, huh?

It seems weird that they claim no birth certificate. I've seen one posted right here on the org. How did he get a passport without one?

Ha, they should call Jon Bream. He has a photo copy of the Birth Certificate! Or at least he did when he wrote his Prince book back in 85.

They didn't say that Prince didn't have a birth certificate, they said that the judge doesn't have a copy of one.

Here we go again...

Two stories about today's proceedings have been posted on the Minneapolis Star-Tribune website. They contradict each other in regard to whose attorney claimed that John Nelson was not Prince's father.

One says "James Selmer represents Venita Jackson Leverette, who claims that Prince's real father was Alfred Jackson Sr. and that she is Prince's half-sister."

The other says "Darcell Johnston claims ...e papers." That contradicts reports from back in May, when she surfaced (she's the so-called "lost sister" that no one -- including the siblings -- had heard of until the probate case was filed), which said that she was claiming that Mattie Shaw was her mother but she and Prince had different fathers.

Neither article mentions the comment about the birth certificate.

Why would the judge have a copy of Prince's birth certicate? This just became a issue today!!

Because the moving party who is making the allegations of paternity needs to include it to argue their motion if they have any sense at all.

The lawyers' motive is to run up the legal bill. I just don't see why determining the rightful heirs should be so complicated.

Even if they can't find P's birth certificate, it's a simple matter to get a copy from the state.

I was wondering if the will is in a safe deposit box somewhere. The administrators say they have gone through 1000s of papers looking for a will and will give up soon. How would anyone know if or where Prince has a safety deposit box?
