Exactly. Also, they said that they can't verify because they don't have Prince's birth certificate. Am I missing something but how hard is it to get a birth certificate??

It's not. This whole thread gave me a headache. One more point: it doesn't necessarily mean the father named on the birth certificate is the biological father. It happens. Idk if that would even matter tho. Im pretty sure they just go by what it states whether it's true or not.

my half sisters' father wasn't on her birth certificate at all, my mom didn't want to jeapordize her welfare. And I'm sure there have been millions of cases where a guy who wasn't the father is on the birth certificate.

you wouldn't happen to be a lawyer would you? I don't know the diff between the two to be honest. I had a hs friend, brilliant student, became a lawyer, i saw him in the yellow pages years later with an ad saying "dog bites" "traffic accidents" and thought "he's an ambulance chaser now". no shit, this guy was disbarred for bilking a half-mill in a real estate deal. funny thing was, he never came across as sleazy, we were friends.

well, i guess you do need assholes like that sometimes. I've been on the wrong side of the law before, wish i had a snake at a time like that but i didn't have the dough. I saw fuckface shapiro the other day in an interview, sharp guy those lawyers, really sharp. I think he doesn't even believe oj was innocent. And johnny "cocaine" cochrane was so full of shit he could barely suppress a smile most of the time. I loved how Cocain's ex wife came out to discredit him before the trial, she said "he told me he would hit me in a place no one could see, then he hit me in my scalp" funny as fuck, but then, I'm a little sick.

Might I remind everybody that the "news" outlet peddling this, KSTP, are the same ones who tried to say the mayor of Minneapolis is in a gang because there's a photo of her and a black guy pointing at each other. They are basically the Fox News of Minneapolis (even our actual Fox affiliate is nowhere near as ridiculous as they are).

I'm confused by most of this thread. It's been weeks since a few people filed (public) court papers alleging that someone else was Prince's father. And not even the same 'someone else', I think there are two different fathers alleged. With two of the cases (a brother and sister iirc), they were allegedly told by their father that he was also Prince's bio father. So they are informing the court of this.

I haven't seen any news or media or random rumor-mongering, only reports which are accurately noting the paperwork that has been filed publicly with the court and reports accurately noting these issues coming up in court hearings.

Nothing I've read so far in the filed papers strikes me as remarkably convincing, but they were filed and have to be dealt with. It's not uncommon or unexpected.

This is the same problem we had with Obama. Why are American birth certificates so brief, no listing of parentage. Here in NZ all birth certificates have the parents names, town they were born in, dates and even their occupation. Of course for a solo mother baby factory ho, the father section is empty but most civilised people like me have both parents filled in, and this has been the law here since 1876.

.

Is this typical or more second class Jim Crow documents for Blacks before 1964? I would not be surprised if white births had longer certificates, or is this shitty documentation the same for all.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Does it matter though I wonder? Other than on a personal level?? Idk if the courts see it any other way than what it's states on the birth certificate - at least as far as their job is concerned. It opens up a can of worms for the family no doubt but I wonder if it will affect the legal course? I'm not sure how it works I guess but I've been thru some of this due to my husband having a child out of wedlock before we met. Establishing paternity was a big part of it. His name is on the birth certificate but there was nothing done to prove paternity other than his name being on the birth certificate. The judge said it is what it is. There was no way to change it even if we were able to prove he wasn't the biological father. As far as the court was concerned he is the father.

when it comes to law and paperwork, it all matters. everything. My sister, as I mentioned, did not have her father listed on her birth certificate. Her father was an Indian and so she would have had legal rights to land or whatever her tribe gave members. Being as his name wasn't on the certificate and her father died when she was an infant, the other family members saw to it that she was never given anything. Even membership, I get angry thinking about it now, how the white man's laws rip all of us apart from each other, leave us angry at the wrong people and keep us all confused. Before she herself died, she just wanted enrollment, not money, just validation, they wouldn't even give her that. So, yes, it matters in this world we live in.

I am white and in the same general age range as Prince (1958) and Obama (1961)
My birth certificate is short and not detailed too.

I saw my nephew's birth certificate from 2011 - and it had much more details.

my ma was white, it was her choice not to put the father on the certificate, from what I understand, she could have. different places, different laws though. Point is, paperwork can create all kinds of havoc.

I am not a bar card carrying attorney- those are the sleazy ones...the shit I could tell you that they do would turn your hair white. I am a lawyer in fact. an attorney needs a license to "practice" law the definition of license is "permission to do something that would otherwise be illegal" think on that for a bit- a marriage license, a drivers license..etc. to "attorn" means "turn over" you are turning over your rights as a man/woman to an individual who is loyal FIRST to the court. you are last in line for loyalty. the reason we need all these permits to go about our daily lives is because we are not free men and women, we are U.S. citizens which means you are an employee of the state. that is how they are able to fee, tax arrest, incarcerate etc.. the people. Nice huh?

It's believed that it's just an error on the certificate. Prince's father's stage name was "Prince Rogers" and that's the name he gave to his son.

I get that we have laws, and legal rights, etc but damn, these people should not be allowed to pull this stuff just because they can. Does MN have some type of frivilous lawsuit law? Cause these people are wasting taxpayer money pulling this stuff and when it's documented legally that they have no basis, then they should have to repay the time, expense and emotional suffering this must be causing the family. It's just beyond ridiculous.

This all started because Tyka's petition leaves out Duane as one of the half-siblings. So Duane's children's lawyer needs to establish that Duane's kids are heirs. If Prince and Duane had the same biological father, that would potentially establish the rights, even if John was legally his father from birth.

Prince and Duane are not siblings of any sort. Duane was a family friend, refered to as a "brother", which is why Tyka did not include Duane on the petition. Tyka and her siblings know the truth.
