I have it because I'm a completist. Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

I have it. Its the first Prince cd I bought. I thought it was a great way for me to be introduced to his music back when I first started listening to him Forever In My Life, forever in my heart. I love you Prince Rogers Nelson

I was gifted it for my birthday when it came out. I gave it to my stepdad as a kind of intro to get him amped for his show this february. It has a pretty goo but basic song selection on it for people that are open to being Prince'd before you take them to the next level if they are ready.

I sure do. Bought it b4 i knew better . Got it mainly 2 here SOTT from Girl 6 good scene when she was tripping out on n looking good. "5 got u smokin that shit" For all time I am with you, you are with me.

No...it's probably the only official album release I don't have. Seems superfluous for long terms fans but it's a decent starting point I suppose.

No. | |

Nope. I'm not sure why but everytime I've seen it in stores it just kind of erks me. You crammed the "VERY BEST" of Prince into ONE cd that only contains SEVENTEEN songs? Yea, okay <3

I recently bought a copy because I was fascinated by the "alternate cover". http://prince.org/msg/7/425695

NO,I don't own this CD.It's pretty pointless for the hardcore fan who already has all the albums.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Nope, for several reasons: 1) I have all the songs on other CDs, including "The Hits/B-Sides" that Prince OK'd. 2) Prince didn't OK it 3) It's a blatant money grab 4) No material on it that makes it desirable. "The Hits/B-Sides" had b-sides and new songs, "Prince Utimate" had remixes that weren't available on CD.

Prince asked us not to buy this version so I never did.

Yep. Got it as a secret santa gift. Was the first time I heard I Wanna Be Your Lover.

Interesting to see that even cds like this are a gateway into the Prince cannon of songs! these type of hits collections are usually the way in for most new Prince fams! My first experience of James Brown was Solid Gold: 30 Golden Hits, which was an impressive collection even for the time (1977?)

Ditto. No new music on there for me. It's the only album of his I never bought. Have no plans to buy it.

Nope. I didn't see the point since I had all of the tracks anyway. "The album contains most of his commercially successful singles from 1979 to 1991" - From Wiki. Commercial success doesn't mean much to me, like others have said I've compiled my own version of a "Best Of". From now on, 4 U I shall be wild 💜

ditto. Some people are like Slinkies...
They're good for nothing but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

No need. I never got the Ultimate either for the same reason.
I do have Hits/Bsides.
I have everything else.

So far I manage to compile 4 types of responses from this question . Yes =Person has it or got it from somewhere No = Person does not have it or want it, or quotes owning Ultimate Bsides No with attitude = Does not have it, insults it for content, context and /or motive No answer = Answer too hard to find or they reiterate shit or talk about something not related to question Other = No response, empty posts and anything else (Double posts) . Yes 20/71 =28.2% No 40/71 = 56.3% (Made up of No 25/71 and No with attitude 15/71) No answer/irrelevant 9/71 = 12.7% Other 2/71 = 2.8% . The fact only one quarter of fans have it, is a sign its valued quite lowly by the org community. [Edited 5/31/16 18:12pm] Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

No, because I have all the official albums I will take my place, In the great below

I think I remember even Prince at the time suggesting people don't buy it. I could be wrong, but there was something to that effect, I think...
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
No but I have The Hits/B Sides. For a greatest hits compilation album,it's the best in myour opinion. Many of Prince's B sides were even better than the singles.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Duplicity. Nothing new or different. No need to take up more shelf space I could devote to a nice boot.

I don't own it...but I have thought about owning it since his passing... I bought the Hits/ B-Sides the day it came out (I was finally so happy to have the B sides on CD!!! I would have paid full price just for that disc back then!!)) I have considered it just to buy something of his that I don't have...but I just don't really care for the selections (and I have it all already!). I did, however, buy the Ultimate...at least it has the extended tracks (which I have...but at least now I can stream them on my Amazon Echo)....
