alternate cover "The Very Best of Prince"

I haven't seen this cover before and was wondering if it is old stock or new stock. It says 2001 on the cover.

Got this from JBHIFI in Melbourne, Australia.

They also had this display:

Isn't it just the inside of the regular cover folded different? I don't have it but I'd seen it before and I was sure it was that.

Just checked.

All pictures inside the booklet are in negative as well.

And hopefully some of that money goes to keep Paisley Park open, to put on a few memorials for fans, to donate to various causes Prince was involved in, and to release stuff from the fault.

And we want the masses to find him. The world needs more purple.
Surprise, surprise.
Another treat. Another trick.

 I hope they pick up The Hits/B-sides because for $19.95 in AUD it's one of the best bargains in music and a pretty great overview of the man up to that time.

i don't really understand what that means. i've never seen such
a display with the dates for anyone, ever, in any store. it's just
creepy and tacky. without the dates it would be fine.

Also, since when has this been the cover to 'Ultimate'?

Is this a recent, post-passing thing or just an AUS thing?

Just saw this pic on a tweet from HMV Japan and they look to be doing something similar - but at least they have some of the new music on display.

yeah, i guess in the end that's all that matters, that more people get to hear his music.
it's cool to see so many of his newer albums together on a stand too. that's quite cool

What was the misprint?
I noticed it odd that TVBOP lists credits for the Symbol album (introducing Mayte) but doesn't have anything from the album!
Why not include "7" one of his biggest hits?
Not a misprint but an odd omission I think.

That looks cool, actually. Are all the copies they have in store like that?

I bought this copy also last week from Sanity in NSW. It's a print error from what I can gather? The plates they used on the press may not been imposed correctly for the colour breakdowns. (Different plate per colour generally). The centre bottom Parade era image retains it's original theme presumably due to it being a black image...suggesting the other present Parade era image may have contained a CMYK (colour) element to create the blakc in that particular image, therefore suffering from the potential plate reverse processing we see on the output. It looks terrible and should have been discontinued during print proofing as it's apparently only an issue for Australian releases.

So every single Australian copy is like this? Wow. That's one pretty big balls up.

It's not a misprint!

.

It's not possible to misprint something and end up with a negative image - printing doesn't work like that.

.

This isn't the first time I've seen this. I am sure I read about this years ago as being an alternative cover. I am sure I read some people didn't like it so it wasn't used for all territories.

Pretty sure it has always been the cover. The slip cover has the white and purple cover, while the CD booklet's front cover is the one above.

You should list it on ebay and say that it is a one of a kind error. Minimum bid/buy it now $1000.

My CD came inside a slip with Purple font and white background but the actual CD cover is that one. My guess is they just decided not to include the slip for other countries. I'm in the US

Not a slip-cover. It's a cardboard case. The copy I currently have of this album is this version. It's the one that's been in stores for years now.
