Nice. An improvement on the original. He was just too old to sing something like this but coming from someone younger the whole song makes more sense. Love it including the lofi production. BobGeorge909 said:
I unno...check out Natalya's cover of Free Urself. It maynot b everyones cup-o-tea. I sounds very different than the original. IMO, its quite beautiful.
The only problem is that the vocal is a good performance, but it seems to have been recorded poorly.

[Edited 5/23/16 17:30pm] [/quote>This photo is disgusting and crass. So wrong on so many levels. I hate her for this. She knows what she does. Hag. . [Edited 5/23/16 18:23pm] strong> Yeah, that photo of her, appears like she is in an elevator, and then holding a purse marked 'dealer', giving the assumption that Prince had a dealer, is insulting. If she wanted to honor Prince with respect, that photo isn't the way to go. Proves she is taking advantage of Prince's passing, to bring attention to herself. It is clear she is not happy about the negative reaction she received from many of Prince's fans and musician friends, who were not pleased that the drunks at billboard, asked her to do the tribute to Prince. Seems Billboard was seeking ratings, and apparently that was all they were interested in. Billboard could have chosen many of Prince's former band members, including some of his childhood, musician friends, who were part of the beginning of Prince's music career. I guess she thought she would be received well, but obviously she wasn't. Sure Madonna was part of the same era, but Madonna 'was not part' of introducing the Minneapolis sound to the world. See Madonna....that's the difference. [Edited 5/24/16 6:03am]

Only she's not in an elevator but standing in the corner of a room, wearing a purse with a tongue in cheek moniker.
Now why did Billboard choose Madonna? Cuz it's fucking BILLBOARD, it's about charts & top40 hits ...these are no jazz awards nor is it a celebration of people who play 200 instruments & the flute with their asshole while writing songs 4 other people at the same time.
And for the record, the reason why the 'world' is grieving over the loss of Prince is mainly because they loved his commercial heyday output...remember the stuff from back in the day when he signed with Warner 4 hundred million dollars? Nobody was there cuz he introduced MPLS sound to the world. People relate 2 the hits of Prince the pop star who was succesful during a certain era.
At the end of the day Madonna did have a personal relationship with Prince..& she wanted 2 pay tribute cuz she loved him. For the love of God, I don't c the issue there...
At this point in rock 'n roll history one can only wonder why certain people have a hard time accepting Madonna's status in pop culture. It's like denying the sun or the presence of a mountain in a landscape. It is what it is....it's not even about personal taste.
I forgot how humorless & precious some Prince fans were. ...Your coochie gonna swell up and fall apart...

Madonna is sick! And by sick I mean she needs mental help. Even if she's not in an elevator it looks like an elevator. She's dressed in purple and holding a bag that says "Dealer". Really? But she loves Prince? She has a frightening way of showing it. SMH

Madonna was totting that purse since early 2015 people
Known for pushing the boundaries, Madonna's latest luggage comes from East London designer Mawi Keivom, who specialises in bejeweled luxury accessories. Though the bag appears to be a Hermes Kelly
We Found THAT ‘Dealer’ Bag Madonna Just Posted to Instagram
The bag, created by U.K.-based brand Mawi, is called the Elizabeth, with a shape that takes its cues from the classic Hermès Kelly bag. The big difference being that it features the pretty awesome detailing of “dealer” and “thief” in Swarovski crystals. The bag, available in black and bordeaux, is also available in clutch form.

1+1=2 If one just had what appeared to be in elevator when its actually a corner of a room but then you have a bag with dealer on it also. We all know whats in the media about Prince and prescription drugs. And you say she is not poking fun of Prince dismise at all. Please!

If this was Rome, "MadgeSuccubus", would have been properly stoned for such a blasphemous act. QuestLove should be banned form any oratory presentations hereon. Stevie, though blind, can hear. He knows non-teritian harmony inside out. I have seen it so many times in person. Was there not a sound check? A rehearsal? Where was auto-tune or melodyne when we need them? He may have been called at the last minute.
The Cane...? Was the "succucbus" reflecting on his hip injury, or, that he was a pimp in her eyes?
The Cross? Was the "succubus" projecting her own "religious" beliefs , or, that she understood his "religion"? She transcended into his world as only she could by being rich to herself and poor to her "friend". Loyal , or lover scorned?
The infamous purse.... "Dealer"... The "succubus'" feeble attempt at ambiguity. Instaneously , the "succubus" wields the power and wisdom of a mekubbal.
Who was doing the video editing on the big screen? This person should be dipped into something. They ran out of 40 years of footage? Anyone of us could have put together a digital memorial of this legend.

The "succubus'" intent was to convey that she understood him like no other.

Fortunately, I missed this hot mess. I opted for a movie instead and very glad I did. I don't dislike Madonna, but she does nothing for me. I like a few of her songs, but I could never see her perform again and not miss her at all.
I hope BET does it right. I would like to see:
D'Angelo Maxwell TTD Santana Sheila E Wendy & Lisa Morris and the Time Rosie Gaines Aloe Blacc Lenny K Sheena Easton....just to name a few.
Please do not bring out every popular artist that no one really gives a shit about. [Edited 5/24/16 9:43am]

Definitely - I'm amazed with this whole discussion. Some of you hated her tribute - fair enough. But this whole cane, bag, elevator thing is a really bizarre leap. Have you had your + signs today?

she's had a throne on her tours for the last 4-5 yrs and has been using canes since 1993 in the shows

It is not clear what they intended but the "succubus" wanted to be the tribute , at a tribute for someone else! She can be quite vindictive . Anyone in the industry will tell you that. On this night, she was the joke. That's for sure.
The idea is this... the death of a legend should not have been lessened by the "succubus" feeble attempt at imparting some meaning to his past. This is an impossibility. If she so desired to convey what she thought he really would like her to do as a tribute , perhaps the "succubus" should have worn provocative lingerie, lay on a piano and narrate a digital memorial of his body of work for (10) minutes.
She disrupted the programming with that wretched pitch voice wrought with dissonance. At one point, I thought a platoon of mosquitoes would land on the stage ready to help out with backing vocals. What a disaster.
I could care less how long she sat on a throne, used a cane as part of her props or purchase a purse that says "dealer" on it .She knows that this is a very sensitive time . It's not as if she needed to reignite a slow burning fuse. All she did was fuel the rumors.
"Succubus'" spritual discussion with Prince during the show ..... "But enough about me. Lets talk about you. What do you think of me"?
