- I read about this on another site and have not had time to check the MN court site to see if this is true. Bremer made a request to the court to make a payment to a large law firm. Why would Bremer need special permission to pay a bill. Could this be due to an attorney lien which allows attorney’s to hold a work product? Could the work product be a will or a trust? Would the law firm that handled P’s divorce who has come forward be obligated to provide the work product even if Prince owed the firm money? The law firm coming forward or being contacted by Bremer after 3 months is very strange.

. The court has to approve *all* payments by Bremer; they can't just disburse money.
The "large law firm" getting the payment could be the attorneys currently charged to "monetize the estate" (ie, the music vault, etc). . Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

But they haven't done any monetizing yet, have they?

My question was concerning a law firm holding a work product due to an attorney's lien. Could a law firm hold a will or trust because payment was not made? In addtion, the request to ask the judge if his old firm that handled his divorce could have permission to release "work product' to Bremer leads me to think that firm is holding a work product.

Bremer might be paying bills that are due but that would have nothing to due with a law firm payment You do not need a law firm to pay bills that are due.

Lawyers Might Have 'Potentially Relevant' Info on Prince Heirs LINK HERE
A judge says a Minnesota law firm may have "potentially relevant" information for determining who should inherit Prince's estate.
The order says the firm "might possess confidential information potentially relevant to the determination of the appropriate beneficiaries" of Prince's estate. The order doesn't say what that information might be. The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.
Remember there is only one destination and that place is U All of it. Everything. Is U.

Can a law firm hold a work product due outstanding fees?

I am an attorney. You dont withhold confidential information relative to the determination of appropriate beneficiaries in order to get paid attorney fees. If this law firm is owed attorney fees by Prince they have to file the appropriate paperwork with probate court as any other creditor would.
There is something in the attorney files that they need Prince (cant), or his personal representative (Bremer) to sign an attorney/client waiver.
This law firm represented Prince on his divorce to Mani. We dont know if these attorneys represented Prince prior to the divorce from Mani, or even if they represented him after the divorce to Mani.
But I do know when you go through a divorce you have to disclose all joint, individual, and business assets and debts. Maybe Prince disclosed a Trust during the divorce.
It came to the attorneys and Judge's attention not as long as you think because all we see is an Order signed by the Judge. Obviously, this has been discussed for awhile before an Order went on.

Apparently, there was some sort of arbitration agreement that Prince was paying. http://www.mncourts.gov/m...eement.pdf . Here is a court document regarding litigation and a licensing agreement: http://www.mncourts.gov/m...eement.pdf [Edited 7/15/16 11:31am]

I swear the Court slips in these filed documents at a later date so we cant find them. Well, this is interesting because these attorneys NEVER requested the Court to approve an attorney/client waiver to continue on with this arbitration settlement. Maybe this had to do with the Sony lawsuit that was filed in March 2015.

I hope this is just a settlement for the Judith Hill suit although I do not see why that would be confidential. What did our boy get himself into?

That document you are referring to the attorneys for Bremer Trust petitioning the Court to permit them to proceed with the settlement. The other document in the other post is the Order signed by the Judge granting their petition. The petition states it is related to business, and invloves something they didnt want the public to know about. Hmmmm. I dont understand why everything is a secret.

Prince's attorney on this does not appear to have worked for the firm that said they information pertaining to heir's so this matter appears to be something different that may been resolved back in the June.

. Notice the names in that order?
Laura Krishnan is an ESTATE PLANNING ATTORNEY. https://www.stinson.com/LauraKrishnan/
The name GARY HANSEN comes up in another document: "The above—entitled matter came before the Court on June 24, 2016, without a hearing. The Special Administrator is filing with the Court the Affidavit of Laura Krishnan and the Affidavit of Gary Hansen regarding the terms and conditions of a litigation settlement agreement and a licensing agreement for an awards ceremony."
It's hard to tell which direction this goes. Is it a payment BY the estate or a payment TO the estate? (I'm still trying to figure out what the deal is about "awards ceremony".)
EDIT: It seems that Gary Hansen, a noted business attorney, represented Prince when the French were going after him for unpaid income taxes, resulting from concerts there. Details here: http://www.twincities.com/2012/12/30/princes-taxes-paid-up-in-france-lawyer-says/
But licensing from an awards ceremony? I wonder if that was a take-down order from Prince? .

Im not gong to reply with any "quote" cuz it gets confusing.....Any attorney fees paid from the estate must be approved by the Judge. The Administrator must ALWAYS get approval from the Judge to pay attorney fees.
