The law provides penalties for the withholding and/or destruction of a will.

I read an article that said Prince changed attorneys almost yearly. I also read a statement by one of those attorneys and he begged Prince to prepare an Estate Plan and/or Will, something, anything and Prince refused to do so.

If an Estate Plan, Trust or Will was made surely an attorney would have come forward by now, indicating he/she prepared one, and that they have a copy. Each state has their own requirements/rules for attorneys, and the state I live in requires we keep a client's file for a minimum of 7 years. I do wills and I have never destroyed copies of wills (I keep them forever in strorage). Prince hired high falutin attorneys, surely they would have kept a copy of any documents prepared for Prince.

I know someone mentioned above that Bremer Trust said they found correspondence about a will? I cant find that statement anywhere. I have read the exact opposite. Bremer Trust said they have looked in every box, drawer, nook and cranny and have not been able to find one.

I have several theories as to why Prince didnt draft a will.....1) he didnt want to sign a contract; 2)for some reason peeps think it is bad luck to draft a will, or he thought he was going to live for many more years, and would draft one later; 3) Prince wanted to have the last laugh and let the vultures tear each other up because it wouldnt matter to him any longer after death; or 4) he knew there was the possibility he had a child(ren) and wanted them to come forward and take the proceeds of the estate instead of siblings.

Even if there was a will it would probably be contested. For example, what if he made one while married to Mani and he left everything to her? HA!

There is no will.....

--- I think he may have put money in trust. Someone correct me but I believe Trust do not have go thru probate and you can put in clauses to shut people up about it.

You are correct. Trust are not put in probate. And yes, you can put a lot of clauses in a Trust.

There were reports about the June 27 hearing that said Bremer Trust had informed the judge that they had yet to find a will and did not believe Prince had prepared one, although they had seen correspondence to the contrary.

The reporting was a bit convoluted, however, and could be read to indicate that they had seen correspondence indicating that Prince had declined to prepare a will.

I posted a link to the article earlier in this thread.

Why do you think they are "waiting"? It is my guess that they are VERY busy......

If I knew WHY, then I wouldn't be asking. This is a very serious question. And, it goes without saying that they are VERY busy. But TOO BUSY to begin the monetization process to enable them to pay off the estate taxes, which is the first step to maintaining control of P's masters and his legacy, including Paisley Park?? I'm just wanting to know what is going on with the estate....

Those brought in to generate income should not need to be concerned with the "potential heirs" drama, except to oversee it from above. P's estate has many moving parts, and so should the team.

Thanks. I had a look at http://www.co.carver.mn.u...nistration but I guess I need some help finding the Prince Estate documents.

You can keep up with the events of Prince's Estate by:
1) googling "Prince" in daily news - you should be able to sort through the results that pop up fairly quickly;
2) check here, at the Org - Prince's fams run to their computers quickly when a new tidbit becomes known; and/or
3) check The Court's daily filings <this is probably THE best thing to do. Here is the shortcut link for you: http://www.mncourts.gov/I...elson.aspx <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
That is> wwwDotmncourtsDotgov/InReTheEstateofPrinceRogersNelsonDotaspx
This link will take you DIRECTLY to Prince's Estate filings and you can read them on a daily basis. Usually the day's filings are posted the following day by 4pm. Some days there isn't anything to read; some days there is a little; and some days, there is a LOT to read!

I still wish Prince had done his Will. Have YOU drawn up your will?!?

Who needs to watch soap operas?!? This estate has a little of EVERYTHING!!!

[Edited 7/10/16 12:20pm]

Thank you, mailaccount63!

It's much easier to keep up to date with the estate hearing now.

So...re: Henson & Efron, it looks like they were privy to our beloved Prince's wishes (I wish U heaven!). I don't think they are in possession of his will because if so, they would have come forward. I wonder what it could be.

We will know in no time I guess.

This suggests there may be a will (or some kind of directive or beneficiaries):

.

http://www.mncourts.gov/m...-Efron.pdf

.

Small excerpt:

.

H&E previously served as counsel for Prince Rogers Nelson and might possess confidential information potentially relevant to the determination of the appropriate beneficiaries of the Decedent's estate.

I hope you're right, but Prince already had an infrastructure, of sorts, set up to sell his music directly to his fams, without a third party, like a label. Plus, he has many, many websites that he no longer used. His web administrators would be more than happy to convert and update them to release his music. Without a label taking a cut, his estate is positioned to make a mint, literally.

Prince estate: Lawyers may have 'potentially relevant' info on singer's heirs

Associated Press
POSTED: 07/13/2016 10:33:03 AM PDT | UPDATED: 43 MIN. AGO

CHASKA, Minn. (AP) -- A judge says a Minnesota law firm may have "potentially relevant" information for determining who should inherit Prince's estate.

Carver County Judge Kevin Eide gave permission for the Minneapolis law firm Henson & Efron, which formerly represented Prince, to privately share that information with Bremer Trust, the special administrator overseeing Prince's estate.

The order released Wednesday but dated July 6 says the firm "might possess confidential information potentially relevant to the determination of the appropriate beneficiaries" of Prince's estate. The order doesn't say what that information might be.

Prince presents the award for favorite album - soul/R&B at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles on Nov. 22, 2015.

The rock superstar died in April of an accidental drug overdose. No will has publicly surfaced, and the court has not ruled on whether his siblings or other claimants are his heirs.

Attorneys for Bremer Trust and Henson & Efron didn't immediately return calls seeking comment.

I can only imagine the complexity for Bremer. Prince was very private, with that alone, Bremer has it's hands full trying to piece together things. Then add to that the vast volume of work, known and unknown and assets.

Aside from that, can you imagine the people who are going thru all the documents and boxes that Prince had? Not to mention the Vault(s).

I get the vibe Bremer is on top of this and it appears that they are doing a diligent process. The new information about Henson & Efron is enticing.

Maybe in the next weeks that information will be inadvertently released.

I also found it interesting that this is the same firm that handled his second divorce. The Minneapolis Star Tribune had a write up:

-- Yes, he had a record company in place so the estate could continue to sell the music through the company he had set up already. I hate saying this but it will probaly be run better because the focus will be on unrealeased material and not new stuff. It could really be like printing.

So over his lifetime, through the many legal professionals he hired and left, none of them have an obligation to bring information forward to the court? Does this mean any of them could have a will stashed and just sit on it?

It has been weeks now since Prince left.

I guess I should read he latest story. I read the court document and it sounds like they have something in hand. Maybe the law firm just found it again after someone went through Prince's files, then brought it to the attention of Bremer.

And this--hmmm...gees he was still dealing with this mess in 2010. Looks like property ownership issues, my guess.

The Minneapolis law firm Henson & Efron represented Prince in his divorce from Manuela Testolina. The petition was filed in Hennepin County in 2006, and the divorce decree was entered in 2007. There were a number of additional filings through August 2010 — including a judgment of $276,339 — but the contents of the files were sealed by a court order.

If the law firm of H&E had a will or it had information about property they WOULD NOT NEED AN ATTORNEY/CLIENT WAIVER.

The Judge stated in his Order that the law firm "might possess confidential information potentially releveant to the determination of the appropriate BENEFICIARIES of the Decedent's estate and other matters."

If they had previously reperesented Prince in a proceeding regarding a child(ren) and a Trust was set up they would need an attorney/client waiver. I am assuming the Trust provides that the mother and the child(ren) could not reveal this information or they would lose the Trust funds.

I think the judgement was Mani payout from the divorce. She may have had a crappy pre-nuptial agreement. Keep in mind the promotors of the Musicolgy tour said they gave him a check for 44 million at the end of the tour.
