i agree...The Slaughterhouse has "Hypnoparadise" ...The Chocolate Invasion has "My Medallion"...both better than "Mountains"...and i dig Mountains...but its comical when people act like Prince fell off so bad, that he hadnt made a great song since "When Doves Cry"...what countries do these people live in?...have they been incarcerated since 1986?...cmon...

silly in tone, but dead serious...Prince never stopped making great songs...they just stopped getting airplay...i admit to his lps having more filler in recent years...but when he was ON, he killt it...time after time...

You're entitled to your opinion. Entitled... but wrong.

I would like to draw attention to: Your deliberately troll like thread title... You could have used a little such as "The best Prince song EVER... Mountains". Just an odd thing for a fan to do... just sayin'.

Joy in repitition indeed.

Moderators? "On the one..."

Nothing I have read by Cloreen indicated they are actually a Prince fan. Most of the posts I have seen have been super negative. Last great Prince song... Lol the next album had If I Was UR Girlfriend.

I have purposely not responded to Cloreen for most of the last month because I figured maybe he/she is grieving. Cloreen's posts have been inflammatory and/or antaganistic at the very least. Give it a rest...

Even if what you are saying is true, why illicite anger during a time people are trying to reflect and focus on positive traits about the man?

Just like New York after 9/11, people can only get along due to their shared grief for so long, then, back to normal... sigh

This thread is completely preposterous. Mountains is an ok song, but I've never understood the love it gets here. The song glides along in a sweet non-offensive kind of way, but it lacks any bite, urgency, or transcendence. Check this out ... Of course they happened. They just didn't contain a song as monumentally stupendous and mighty as "Mountains."

.

Nor did any other post-1986 album. However, "Come" does come close with "Space" and "Loose!" Ahh, those songs were magnificent. Just not as magnificent as "Mountains."

Just curious, why? You actually want me banned because I feel "Mountains" is the last truly great song in Prince's catalogue? Well, write out what your favorite Prince song may be. But remember if we don't agree with your choice, according to your rules, you should be banned.

.

Wow, banned because my favorite song isn't the same as your favorite song. Unreal.

Horns are decent. I'm not hearing that piano as gospel, but ok. Let's put it this way, rannking songs on parade, which is a great album:

1. Sometime it Snows in April
2. Kiss
3. New Position
4. I Wonder U
5. Mountains
...

But you know what, I'm gonna stop. I'm satisfied by this thread that there are a gold number of people who think Mountains is a good song, but not great and not one of his best. The rest of you can be happy enjoy the sh!t out of it.
