Keep in mind that I'm speaking as an agnostic so forgive me if I'm missing something in your opinion. But cremation just speeds up the "ashes to ashes, dust to dust" part. Barry White was cremated [as requested in his will] and his ex-wife released those ashes at one of Barry's favorite vacation resorts.
My point is that I think Prince may have wanted his ashes to be sent somewhere on planet earth.
I'm not an agnostic and I, and most members of my friends and family, all agree that we prefer cremation over the burial process. Having been through too many viewing of bodies, in particular having to handle my mother's burial, it is too unnatural and hard on loved ones who remain. I, too, wish to be cremated with little ceremony. I decided that years ago... I totally understand what Prince wanted.
I think coffins are overpriced. But that's just me of course.

Now look. It's all so quick secretive and fast. The only way I can forgive this is if it's a hoax. So I'll just stay mad then.
Is that true about Selena? I thought they tried to save her through surgery? But that makes kinda makes since what the media said if you are right because I remember they said they tried to save her but she had lost to much blood but left out the part a blood transfusion was refused if it was refused b/c of being a JW!

Wrong! THAT would be Saturday, the 7th day of the week, as in the 7th day Sabbath. But that's another thread for another day.
Staying on-topic, I'm also thinking "damn", the body has been cremated so quickly!

I hope everyone is doing okay... I just lost family members and my best friend late last year. I just got word that yet another family member passed... Prince's loss just reopens old wounds I was trying to heal. Any public memorial I can't watch or attend... I went to see a Bonnie Raitt concert in Oakland last night I already had a ticket for and when I got off the subway I was hit by the marquee heading on the old Paramount Theater where Prince performed a few weeks ago: "We Are Heartbroken. Rest In Peace, Prince. Your Music Will Live Forever." Then, I attended Bonnie Raitt's concert and she dedicated three songs to Prince, talking about how much she couldn't believe it he was gone. The song I fell apart on was one Bonnie had recorded and Prince had done a cover of--"I Can't Make You Love Me"--which is a song about extreme loss, not just of the romantic variety. Bonnie said she had to do that song for Prince and she sang her soul out with just a spot light and an acoustic guitar. I sobbed and sobbed. I guess the people next to me thought I was nuts. But, I met other fans there who understood what Prince meant and still means to so many of us. That was probably the closest to a private memorial I will come to... Thank you, Bonnie Raitt, who has seen so many losses and is still here to comfort us. Sounds like a memorial might be several months away, with an opportunity for a large crowd to travel to the Twin Cities.

I am totally devastated...BUT, am also trying to be a realist.....I DID NOT KNOW THE MAN personally....yet somehow his transition has affected me in ways that are inexplicable....I am now (after mouring for 3 dayz) in a place where I understand that his passing is a process that happens to ALL HUMANS...so, I am working towards turning this tradgedy into a learning/living/loving life experience. Dear Prince, thank you for all of your generosity, love, and companionship over the years. I will always be a person who shares your lifes work with others as a teaching/learning tool.
Thank you for providing the landscape of LOVE, ENLIGHTENMENT, and JOY...I am forever changed by your presence and sharing of your essence.
Welcome 2 the Dawn.....I LOVE YOU is almost not a phrase that encompasses my feelings toward you.
Peace and Love for all eternity....Kim |

I'm glad Sheila's planning the memorial. She's gonna make it a great event and likely will invite all of his associates. Would love to see The Revolution, Jill Jones, Apples on one stage along with the new band members/associates ala Liv, Shelby, Andy etc. I'm sure a host of celebs will be there too. I want to go so badly! If it's in July then we'll all have some time to save up.

No, they'd already done blood transfusions on her (four, if I remember correctly). A major artery in her shoulder was severed so the blood just spilled out. She had already died by the time her father got to the hospital, and they were telling him that they'd attempted blood transfusions when he said "She wouldn't want that!" and then he realized... *sigh*
Also, he wouldn't have been able to make medical decisions for Selena anyway; that responsibility would've fallen on Chris, her husband. |

yeah, it is comforting to know that sheila has brought back the revolution for her charity events before, and knows how to get that done. |
