So strange/sad to see Judith Hill there and not Wendy & Lisa or Andre C, for ex. I get the "no drama" desire but it all seems pretty thoughtless.

I agree. I'm certainly not in a position to judge but it almost feels disrespectful to Prince himself to me. It would have been one thing if it were only family but it wasn't... Sheila was the one handling invitations so who they excluded seems even more strange.

Sheila has done over 30 local interviews - take that as you will. I don't know what's going on but it gives the appearance that she wanted to be in the spotlight on this one.

That would certainly explain things. I'd hate to think that all those 20-something girls who knew him a hot minute were invited and Morris Day was not. Makes more sense if the people who just showed up were allowed to attend - still doesn't look great but I am sure they were all shocked. It does kind of indicate that Prince really left no instructions, don't it?

That does seem suspicious. I imagine that would upset Prince. How he rolls he would want one interview and thats it. Why do the same interview 30 + times? I had to giggle when I read this because I thought the same thing about the whole mouthing of "marry me" on stage and being referred to as his former fiancee. Let's face it, the man had a lot of lovers and she was one in a loooonnng line of them. Does anyone know when this quasi-proposal happened?

I don't believe that's correct. The video was taken/posted after the service and they say they are going to grieve with the rest of the Revolution. It doesn't appear any members of the Revolution were at the service, and no pre-2012 musical collaborators other than Shelia, Larry Graham, and Kirky J.

I think he had it all arranged when this took place? I had to personally arranged my father's funeral the same week he was passing and it takes some time to get things together. The purple boxes for keep sake memories (too many to be passed out to fans), the flower arangements, food preperations, cremation, service the next day...I hate to say it again but it seems everything was to be executed once it happened. Since invitations where given out, a list was probably already together. Remember he didnt want a fuss just a small gathering of his close friends and family and the ones who wasn't there, he probably already reached out to them, chopped it up, and made peace.

i wouldn't make much of it. i think Tyka, Maurice, Prez, Sheila and company are doing their best to follow Prince's wishes, and i'd go with Prince not wanting any drama and the private "memorial" wasn't meant to be anything big anyway... it was gonna happen quickly no matter who was there or not, and it was meant to be small and private. it was already announced before then that there's a planned memorial to be announced. that's when everybody can truly play their respects. +

Exactly. I really don't get why folks are even having the audacity to complain. I really can appreciate that Sheila E and has stepped up and helped the family out with arrangements (or so it appears) when really she could've stepped back and said it was too hard for her to do and left it alone. This is light years away from the disaster of James Brown's funeral and the media circus surrounding both MJ and Whitney's funerals. So far, everything has been private and peaceful.

he may have said MARRY ME every time he came, so quite possibly there are a lot of fiancee's floating around out there.
