David Bowie was very complimentary about Prince at his RRHOF induction ceremony.

David Bowie his music and artistic legacy gets acknowledged by the world on social media. Nothing wrong with that.

If Prince chooses to not make an official statement, nothing wrong with that.

People spending time and energy about this Prince/Bowie thing, startles me. Surely they admired each other. How could they not?

Why bother to get upset about a non-issue like that?

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Where did you see that at? I'm tried to google it and I don't see anything. I wish I could find a picture of the two of them. David just about had a photo take with almost everybody.

Great, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

.

I am telling the truth, Prince needs to say something about it and say it fast.

.

Don't insult me, I am not a staranyway, but I have placed a video on youtube about it and have mentioned his passing on facebook, not twitter as I don't have it yet and don't want it.

Perhaps the org will be a better place, when all these fans with rose tinted glasses, who think the shit Prince makes smells like cherries leave and the objective and truly independent fans take over.

If your post isn't a major wind up then you have made a massive mistake - your point of view is not "telling the truth" - it's your point if view, and therefore has no relevance to anything except to yourself.

You are not "telling the truth" - you are stating an opinion and a conceited and misguided one at that. Prince doesn't "need" to say anything about it - YOU need him to say something about it. Well, you're gonna be left wanting mate. And I'm sure the world (well, 4 people - I just put up your view count by 20%!) has breathed a collective sigh of relief now that you have said something about it on youtube and facebook (whilst persistantly getting the name of Bowie's latest work wrong - what a eulogy!) confused

"Truly independent fans"???!!!

Prince has always done this. He's consistent. I don't think he should say anything if he doesn't want to. If he's asked I'm sure he would respond. I think someone posted he never said anything about the passing of his parents. He also never said anything on the death of the child he had with his first wife, or the passing of his brother and sister.

Prince doesn't seem like a person who shows emotions. He didn't say anyting when James Brown died (one of his idols) or when MJ died (someone he respected) and so forth. I think he rather cope with death of celebrities he was close with or respected behind closed doors rather then broadcast his feelings to the media. There is nothing wrong with that. I notice he pays tribute to artists he respects or respected during his concerts and as someone previously mentioned, that is a very classy and tasteful way to show respect/honor.

prince & MJ were low key friends. Don't know why most of his fans refuse to acknowledge that..

Because encountering someone several times does not a friendship make.

The whole DIRTY MIND stage get up seems directly ripped off from Bowie during the early 70s period. Bowie wore bikini bottoms and heels and all that. I'd be shocked if Prince didn't know of that when he chose his outfits.

Also, Bowie cited Little Richard as his biggest influence. Prince too was inspired by him. Tough to compare Bowie to Michael Jackson because Bowie was far more brave and daring and influential. Bowie put out acclaimed albums every year in the 70s similar to how Prince did in the 80s. Michael put out 3 albums in 12 years. And yes, I said that Bowie influenced more people than MJ. Bowie inspired hundreds and hundreds... Hundreds more than Justin Timberlake, New Edition and Tevin Campbell. Also, Prince and Nile Rodgers played a festival in 2014 and covered "Let's Dance"...

Exactly, but it takes only seconds out of your day to say a few kind words about some one who inspired you. He did this with Michael Jackson (Only after at an interview, he was asked he said one line "It's hard to lose someone you loved" or something like that, either way don't correct me guys If I am wrong, it was pretty half assed).

.

I stand by what I said, Prince needs to stop being so proud and drowning in his own ego, get off his damn pedestal and stop acting like Lady Muck and say a few words about the guy. Prince has acknowledged and he was more than aware of the presence and influence of David Bowie in his career. I don't think he would be bitchy, as Bowie as far as I know has never said or done anything nasty towards Prince.

They both had a lot of respect for each other and possibly even recorded together if you bothered to read the thread. And, in my view, YOU are the one who needs to Deleted - langebleu - moderator get down off a pedastal. Everything you are spewing here is pure projection - an absolute reflection of yourself. He did that when Bowie was alive... And if you need acknowledgement from Prince on Bowie now that he's dead then that is pretty sad... Prince (thankfully) isn't a spokesperson for validating someones importance even if you think he is... Just celebrate that you have had the privilege to be alive to witness David Bowie instead of focussing on how you demand others should react now that he's gone...
And again, it's none of anyone's concern how or if a person griefs in moments like these...

Just to add my piece, and I shall not debate it further or enter into arguments about it, I'm among those here who do not understand why Prince, or anyone else for that matter, would have to say something about David Bowie's death, or anyone else's for that matter.

I didn't say anything about it either on my social networks accounts despite the fact that I love Bowie's music and respected him a lot as a person. I had nothing of importance to say, and I don't think my saying somethin would bring any particular comfort to David Bowie's soul or to his grieving friends and family, and I would freely assume that even a celebrity like Prince adding his voice to the dozens of thousands of homages that were posted on social networks wouldn't bring much additional comfort to them either.

And if anyone I know had the nerve to tell me that I do, in fact, have the duty to say something about Bowie's death on my social nhetworks, I'd surely kick their asses away to hell because telling other people what they have to say is pretty out of place.

Prince says what he wants and no one is entitled to make statements demands on him. I in fact pretty much admire his discretion in that regard, in a world where everyone feels they have to open their mouth all the time about everything and nothing, even if they don't have anything interesting to say.

Whats the saying about flattery and imitation. He spoke volumes when he played let's dance with Nile Rodgers for me that's enough and I'm sure if he actually wants to say something he will but I'm sure hes hurting just like the rest of us trying to process it and move forward. There's nothing he can say so I'm glad he's not saying anything.

Prince was obviously very aware of Bowie in 70's, everybody was, i guess. But being that Prince and Bowie are both beatufiul souls with almost unreachable talents and energy, i would more likely to see and read what Bowie's thoghts were on Prince 80's cataloque. Bowie, was lost back in the 80's, musically and creativly...Let's Dance was his only decent album in that decade. (he said that another two from that perioid were awful - he lost his way smile )

So Prince and Bowie did spend some time together one evening. Cool.
Prince does what he does.
He even might play a David Bowie song on the piano as a tribute who knows;
And if he doesn't, so what. Prince remains Prince.
He doesn't openly have to say anything about Bowie. He probably did it in private i'm sure.

But it's not up to us to even have an opinion about this. imho.

-

As a gay person myself, I'm super happy to have known David Bowie as a musician and performer.

He meant so much to every one of us.

He made us freaks and creeps feel real and pargt of it all.

No exceptions.

He paved the way for every one of us who felt different.

No one ever did that back in the seventies.
I'm sure Prince knows that too.

Peace !
