There isn't a good reason for him to be a fan of this site.

Why do you think there is little to no involvement from Prince or the many associates of his on this site? There is a reason for it and I don't blame them one bit.

There's plenty of considered criticism amongst the blind famz posting about how prince invented all music and those starting "he hasn't done anything good since 19-whenever" threads.

I don't care either way, but Prince did do something when James Brown died. He had something on the home page of his website that said something like, "Peacfully Rest" or something similar. Not that it's important.

Despite the fact that James Brown wasn't really that fond of him. That says a lot....

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

He is being a rockstar and acting too proud to acknowledge a man who inspired his career. Prince's run of seamless 80s albums with a new sound and new look for each is taken directly from Bowie's 1970s run of classics. Plus Bowie was never anything but nice to him.

Prince needs to get off his cloud and revisit the world of ordinary people, he is no one special and I am sure his shit smells the same as everyone elses. I love Prince's music but can't stand him as a deranged ego maniac.

Diplomatic answer:
I used to feel like that. Prince may not send out a tweet dove , BUT this event may have inspired him to write something else, like poetry or a groove, which we will hear later. nod I realized this when he came out with "Baltimore".

Bitchy answer:
To be honest, with the way he has been rambling lately (EBONY Q&A), you might want to count your blessings he didn't say anything. evillol

Exactly, but it takes only seconds out of your day to say a few kind words about some one who inspired you. He did this with Michael Jackson (Only after at an interview, he was asked he said one line "It's hard to lose someone you loved" or something like that, either way don't correct me guys If I am wrong, it was pretty half assed).

.

I stand by what I said, Prince needs to stop being so proud and drowning in his own ego, get off his damn pedestal and stop acting like Lady Muck and say a few words about the guy. Prince has acknowledged and he was more than aware of the presence and influence of David Bowie in his career. I don't think he would be bitchy, as Bowie as far as I know has never said or done anything nasty towards Prince.

As a poster child for the tobacco industry, Mr 50 cigarettes A Day Bowie — also an enthusiastic meth/heroin/cocaine addict — seems to represent the worst aspects of the music industry and pop culture which Prince often rails against in his own music.

Prince doesn't often acknowledge the corporatist drivel the main scream media rolls out to keep the masses manipulated, living in fear and divided from one another. Most of his music is a refreshing counter to corporatist culture.

He never touched the Trayvon Martin scandal and only seemed to mention recent tragedies (M. Brown, F. Gray) to add color to a song that also grappled with larger issues (war/peace/inner city black-on-black gun violence). Unlike Leonard Nimoy, Bowie never spoke out about how drugs destroyed his life, despite the positive influence that could have had on many young people and other addicts.

I haven't laughed this much since..well..so prince won't touch bowie because bowie took heroin back in the 70s? You are so naive. Every artist prince loves took drugs at some point. You're insulting his intelligence and that of not only his fans but bowie fans.

I think you're confused. I said, prince doesn't forge his musical tastes on whether or not an artist took drugs or not.He bases it on talent, ability, originality etc. Prince doesn't care who took drugs and who didn't. Of course drug taking is bad, nothing to be proud of.

Madonna has no qualms about paying a tribute..like she did. But Madonna has some semblance of normality about her and prince doesn't. The world prince has created for himself isn't a world he wants people to view as normal..he will remain a mystery for as long as he can keep it up. He will never come out of his comfort zone. ..not for anyone..ever.

One of the more disturbing developments in western societies is 'grief policing' - that everyone is expected to somehow put their mourning on display when a public figure passes. Here in the UK, it really started with the death of Princess Diana, and the media led hounding of the royals - especially her two poor sons - to wear their sadness on their sleeves. I say let everyone - including Prince - deal with the news about Bowie in their own way.

The only reason people want Prince to PUBLICLY acknowledge someone's death is so they can read about it and go all fammy...
What if Prince sent a personal and private message to the appropriate people who actually matter at this time and were in Bowie's inner circle? That would mean so much more than some random tweet or facebook post saying the usual stuff when someone dies...

And even if he didn't... Why fucking care?

Neversin.

AMEN! Everyone does not put their every thought and emotion out on social media. Bowie kept his illness very quiet and was cremated quickly and did not want a funeral. So just because he has not posted on Twitter or wherever does not mean has has not sent condolences to Bowie's family or said a prayer for him which is far more important in my book.

Natalie Cole recently passed also and there was no outpouring from a lot of the folks you that spoke up about Bowie....just saying
