Another interesting observation is that when a musician passes on, everyone and their mother seems to rush to the computer to buy their music, making their music the #1 seller on many sites for many weeks. What was wrong with their music while they were alive?

Usually, there is a bit more discovery as relatives, friends, or even ORGERS share their favorites in memorium. Simply a lot more discussion in general about personal favorites, albums or songs, or "don't forget" rares. Even I noticed some gaps in my personal Bowie collection as I went to listen to ________ and I didn't have it, or I only had it on cassette or something. smile

I have to say, I don't care if it is his bullshit cult he belongs to, Prince is being an arrogant prick by not making a statement about David Bowie. A few words can mean so much.

.

He is being a rockstar and acting too proud to acknowledge a man who inspired his career. Prince's run of seamless 80s albums with a new sound and new look for each is taken directly from Bowie's 1970s run of classics. Plus Bowie was never anything but nice to him.

.

These are times my respect for Prince cools severely, Bowie was a bigger star, and never kicked upa stink about his music on Youtube, he never gagged the press and never joined any wacko Christian hate cults. If anything wqatching Blackstar and some other videos, I get the feeling Bowie never prayed to the God above. Seriously the Blackstar is a Black pentagram, and the video shows him as a rasta covered Baphomet and girls expiating a skull in darkness. Not that I give a shit, I find that religion much better than the Jegiveusallur money and hate fags witness cult.

.

Prince needs to get off his cloud and revisit the world of ordinary people, he is no one special and I am sure his shit smells the same as everyone elses. I love Prince's music but can't stand him as a deranged ego maniac.

Diplomatic answer:
I used to feel like that. Prince may not send out a tweet dove , BUT this event may have inspired him to write something else, like poetry or a groove, which we will hear later. nod I realized this when he came out with "Baltimore".

Bitchy answer:

I already purchased every Bowie album so it didn't affect me but when an artist passes away it gives the sellers/scalpers the opportunity to fuk with the prices too.

They feel no shame and say supply and demand.

TOPIC- I dunno.

I think if someone hears, "the world mourns the loss of David Bowie", they at some level think that they should mourn his loss too. Of course lots of people are sad to see Bowie go regardless of what the world feels about it, but I also think lots of people who were indifferent to Bowie are now sad because of the suggestion that world is a crummier place without him, and as citizens of the world, everyone should be sad about that. If I was indifferent and now I'm sad, I might rationalize that to myself by thinking I liked David Bowie all along. But oh shit I don't own any of his albums - that doesn't make sense, how can I like David Bowie without owning any of his music? Then I go to iTunes and fix that problem.

That's of course a very cynical analysis and I don't think that's the case for everyone who is sad about the loss. For example I imagine a lot of Bowie fans, even ex-Bowie fans, who hadn't picked up his new album were definitely prompted to buy it just because all the media exposure reminded them how much they love his music.

Exactly, but it takes only seconds out of your day to say a few kind words about some one who inspired you. He did this with Michael Jackson (Only after at an interview, he was asked he said one line "It's hard to lose someone you loved" or something like that, either way don't correct me guys If I am wrong, it was pretty half assed).

.

I stand by what I said, Prince needs to stop being so proud and drowning in his own ego, get off his damn pedestal and stop acting like Lady Muck and say a few words about the guy. Prince has acknowledged and he was more than aware of the presence and influence of David Bowie in his career. I don't think he would be bitchy, as Bowie as far as I know has never said or done anything nasty towards Prince.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Pretty sure Bowie has only ever been positive towards Prince. It sounds like he was a fan.

Don't expect Prince to comment, but it doesn't really bother me. Hopefully he'll cover a song or two (imagine P covering songs like 'Word on a Wing', 'Oh! You Pretty Things', 'Fantastic Voyage' or 'Stay' on his piano tour...), but he probably won't.

More than anything, I'd like Prince to listen to 'Blackstar' or 'The Next Day', get a notepad and pen and take note how a music legend makes a fucking album so far into their career.

So it's being reported that Bowie has been cremated in private with no family or friends present because he wanted to go without any fuss. And to think some of you are making a big fuss about Prince not making a public comment.

Why do you want him to? Not everybody has to speak on everything. He didn't speak on MJ's passing until a reporter asked him during an interview.

Can you link me to that? What did Prince say about it?

Prince recounted how he had wanted 'If I Was Your Girlfriend' to be a duet between him and MJ, but MJ refused, saying he wasn't going to sing 'For you naked I would dance a ballet, would that get you off' to Prince.

Prince didn't say shit about Lemmy either, maybe MAYBE he's just not a fan of either and THATS why he's not said anything.

Most of my friends on Facebook put something out when he died but I didn't coz I'm not a fan. I regonise he was a great talent and many people like him but he's just not my cup of tea.

Prince dosn't have to say or do anything about Bowie and if that pisses you off then YOU are the dick!
