I hope Prince WON'T give an statement on the passing of David Bowie, because Prince has the tendency to make shitty comments about other musicians he obviously feels are beneath him. [Edited 1/15/16 6:38am]

Prince had mentioned on several occasions he has more hits than David Bowie, and sold more records. He also felt it was unfair that Bowie is offered better financial deals than him. This was during the 90's. [Edited 1/15/16 13:41pm]

The only evidence I've seen is mutual admiration between the two. ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

Prince in 1998 went on Good Morning America to promote the albums of New Power Soul, Come 2 My House and GCS 2000, Prince mentioned David Bowie to illustrate his ambition to use his financial resources to record and promote artists he admires like Chaka Khan, Larry Graham, Doug E. Fresh, George Clinton and Mavis Staples-"Recently David Bowie signed away the rights to his master tapes for $90 million. I don't own Purple Rain, When Doves Cry, Little Red Corvette and things like that. If I had the ownership rights to these particular master tapes, I could do the same. Cheddar like that makes you a player. When you have money like that, you can re-generate the careers of Chaka Khan, Mavis Staples, Larry Graham etc". 3121 #1 THIS YEAR

Deleted - langebleu - moderator . I am telling the truth, Prince needs to say something about it and say it fast. . Don't insult me, I am not a staranyway, but I have placed a video on youtube about it and have mentioned his passing on facebook, not twitter as I don't have it yet and don't want it. . Perhaps the org will be a better place, when all these fans with rose tinted glasses, who think the shit Prince makes smells like cherries leave and the objective and truly independent fans take over. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Prince doesn't seem like a person who shows emotions. He didn't say anyting when James Brown died (one of his idols) or when MJ died (someone he respected) and so forth. I think he rather cope with death of celebrities he was close with or respected behind closed doors rather then broadcast his feelings to the media. There is nothing wrong with that. I notice he pays tribute to artists he respects or respected during his concerts and as someone previously mentioned, that is a very classy and tasteful way to show respect/honor.

There is nothing 2 gain by a public display. In Prince's case, those words would be turned against him. FOOLS multiply when WISE Men & Women are silent.

^I think he does publicly display "his respect" but he does it in his own way.

Play extended versions of "Let's Dance" back to back with "U Got The Look"... they clearly had regard for each other. Yeah, I know... Nile Rogers... but still.
