You get to the end of the article and Boy George admits they never slept together after all. But of course, most folks will only see the headline, or perhaps read the first two paragraphs, and assume that he was being serious.

The media at its worse.

Boy George is really a pice of shit for saying for making a misleading claim, then backtracking to clear up what he meant. Like the OP said this is the media at its worse, reporting sensationalism at the expense of the truth.

It says a lot about Boy George's career and life that he has to resort to making a misleading comment in the guise of humor to gain publicity for himself. Like I said, Boy George is a punk for this publicity stunt.

Did you even read the article? He said it as a joke - oneupmanship after one of the other judges said "I worked with Prince", so he said "oh yeah! Well I SLEPT with him". Prince will use Twitter to post pictures of a salad as his first tweet, launch Princestagram, delete the account and re-launch Princestagram with 100 pics and video clips garnering press attention for returning, attend various award shows where he causes a stir with his mere presence. Those things I mentioned doesn't affect no one's reputation but his own. Since the word "punk" is has been noticed by you, would "liar" and "coward" be better substitutes?

You're right - I like Culture Club...but that was a punk move when you consider the times and the fact that it is Prince. It actually makes it sound as if Boy has had some attraction to Prince and is admitting it in the guise of an outrageous comment/joke.

The whole story seems like a publicity thing to get people to watch the Voice UK since it has low ratings.

It doesn't make sense the producers had to stop the whole show since usually when someone says something in person you can tell from their facial expression and their tone of voice whether they are serious or joking.

I really don't find it all that funny or clever. Boy George has always done these kind of stupid publicity stunts, which is fine if that's how he wants to be. But then he turns around and complains that no one takes him seriously as a singer/songwriter. Well, he can't have it both ways.
