My mum posted this on my Facebook this morning and I didn't even need to look at the article, just the fact it was The Daily Fail reporting to know it was a crock of shit.

I bet once this gets played on air, people will see the tone of voice used and understand it was a joke. Jfc people take shit way too seriously these days.

And don't think your repeated use of the word "punk" in this context goes unoticed.

Waitaminute!! Is the word "punk" now somehow offensive?!?

...given punk was originally a pejorative term used to describe homosexuals, and the article is about an openly gay man making an obvious joke, then I think the use of the word punk is at best naive, possibly homophobic, and offensive, either way.

How long have you been a Prince fan? If that episode ever airs at all, you can trust-- that part won't be in it!

Sure, people should be able to take a joke and not take offense to every little thing.

This situation is quite different, though. This "joke" was of a very personal nature and social media has proven to take any "joke" and build it up until it is then fact.

If Boy George knows Prince is OK with that kind of joke, then OK, but otherwise, that is an underhanded way to get some publicity. Some jokes are just too personal and/or too specific to make in public - and this was one of them.

Boy George is really a pice of shit for saying for making a misleading claim, then backtracking to clear up what he meant. Like the OP said this is the media at its worse, reporting sensationalism at the expense of the truth.

Did you even read the article? He said it as a joke - oneupmanship after one of the other judges said "I worked with Prince", so he said "oh yeah! Well I SLEPT with him". Blame the Daily Mail (who are a worthless right-wing shit-rag) for making it a headline, not Boy George for making an OBVIOUS joke.

THANK YOU! I don't understand why Paloma wasn't just like "Well, so did I!".

Prince doesn't make potentially slanderous remarks about other celebs to bring attntion to himself and cower by saying "oh, i was joking"...

Excuse me, but there is NOTHING slanderous about that statement. It's 2015, people. Get a fucking grip.

You think it's okay to publicly state that you've had sex with some person that you haven't had sex with?

It's not okay even in 2015.

slan·der
ˈslandər/
noun
Law
noun: slander
1.
the action or crime of making a false spoken statement damaging to a person's reputation.
Since you don't know what slander means, that's the definition. It's easy to brush off the remark when the remark isn't made about that person. If Prince decides legal recourse, then Boy George and the sites that reported the story deserve what's coming.

No it wasn't! Originally it was used to describe a prostitute, I believe.

Reminds me of Frankie Goes To Hollywood at the BPI. Sidenote an uncle of mine used to to be a club bouncer in south London with George back before he was Boy. Always said George could handle himself & loved off his Mum smile

The idea that Gay people have some dangerous, bullying agenda is the definition of homophobia.

And very hypocritical coming from Ms. Jones.

Other than the use of the words lifestyle and choice, which usually go together in the sentence 'it is your choice to live that lifestyle, and that gives me the right to discriminate against you'

People in general can be mean-spirited and have agendas that are harmful. If straight people can be that way, why wouldn't gay people. It's human nature. I can understand where Jill Jones is coming from.

Because it was a joke and has nothing to do with the "so called" gay agenda.
