Burn Me! TGE is one of his weakest albums I've been a Prince fan for two years, discovered him in 2013 and i own around 25 of his albums. The Gold Experience is my last addition to the collection. I enjoy this ride, listening to all this amazing work by the most talented human being in the planet. But i must confess, i didn't enjoy TGE as much as his other albums, and yes, i'm talking about albums like Planet Earth and 20ten too. I feel like this is one of his weakest albums.

It's because you heard the other albums first. Listen to it again. Funky alien

Like i said before, i know TGE is more respected than these albums.... but there's always a black sheep, i must be the one here.
I'm listening to TGE right now for the 2nd time, i hope it grows on me soon. [Edited 10/5/15 7:59am]

The only real weak track on TGE for me is We March. There is so much great stuff on here!!! Urgent pleading sexy heady stuff. Emancipation was a huge let down after this album.

Am not making fun of your opinion , some Prince albums take many plays to grow on yah.

I never liked it either. Is this albummore popular in America than in Europe perhaps? The wooh is on the one!

I do think TGE is overrated around these parts. There are some brilliant moments, especially Dolphin and Billy Jack Bitch, but stuff like P Control, We March and the God-awful Now have aged horrendously, but then I think a lot of his 90s work has aged badly compared Madonna, Janet and MJ's output at the time.

I disagree wholeheartedly. At the time, it was a powerhouse. It's definitely not in the Top 10, but it's for sure in the Top 20.

It's far from weak, but it hasn't aged particularly well imo. It used to be a top 10 album imo, but it has fallen out the last few years. It has been replaced by (now here comes the REAL flames) Emancipation. I also think AOA has legs so it will be interesting how that one holds up 10 years from now.

I'm fairly new to Princeland too and I have to admit, I didn't like The Gold Experience at first either. Pussy Control put me right off :-P But it's probably my favorite 90's album now. The only real problem I have with it now is that it blows the ears off me when I listen to it with earphones. Lol.

I kinda agree. Come had a bit of edge. TGE was just too calculated and a bit bombastic. Shy is the only quiet moment and it ain't that quiet. There's not a song that touches me on it, no beauty. Green virgin teenager, or filthy rich yuppy. Pussy cat pussy cat, where for out thou puppy
