. sure. but it would be really really really nice if those people who have decided to hate HITNRUN would voice their opinions maybe ONCE or TWICE, then shut the f9ck up and sit down. instead. we have the same vitriolic assclowns on every page, arguing with folks who like the album ..... enough already. damn. Well said, its fine not to like the album but its the same posters jumping in saying how bad the album is all the time. Its like they haven't got anything else to do.

. i agree. it gets really weird after a while, watching the same trolls leap up and bash the album on every page of every thread. only thing i can figure for 'why' is they must really, really need the attention

It took me a lot of courage (irony) to write this post. But I had to get it out my chest. I'm a music lover like many of you. At the moment, I'm into The Epic by Kamasi Washington, the Alabam Shakes, all the latest releases by Mavis Stapes produced by Jeff Tweedy and I listen to a lot of old John Martyn great music.
I listened to HNR 5 times since Monday and I LOVE IT! I love what Joshua did with it! I think it is refreshing and very fun. I love Ain't about 2 stop, Shut this down, 1000 hugs and kisses, June, Hardrocklover. I like the flow of the album.
I have 35 years of guitar and piano behind me. I have had proper musical education at high level and I do not need anyone to tell me what is good or not, what it is to have good taste or not.
HNR is a GOOD Prince album and I don't give a shit if you don't like it.

The album is so terrible that it's hard to just weigh in once. There's so much suckage! "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

No way, Tony stays! Imagine how good Shut This Down would be with a Tony M rap. He was apparantly at PP at the weekend so I'm hoping......Tony get on the mic

Upon first listen this was pretty awful, just beats cluttered with all kinds of effects. And that chorus on million dollar show, boy that is shite. Upon second listen of a Prince album you hear more nuances, you hear the music differently and it tends to grow on you. For the first time the second listen was pretty much as the first one. There is no melodies, no hooks, no real songs actually, just beats with OTT dingbats. It just sounds like a lot other stuff out there, very generic and lifeless. Sure, tehre are some nice baselines here and there, but... I struggled myself through a third (turd) listen to see if I could possibly hear what so many others apparently are hearing, but no, it sounds as dead as a dodo. Is there possibly one 'fun, funky and experimental stream' and one 'dull, bland, dated' one? And I got the latter either by bure chance or because I said quite honestly that This could be us remix was weak? I will forever speculate.
I do not think I can muster a fourth listen. As a prince fan of 30 years this is the first time this has happened to me. It is an odd feeling. I am not upset, just baffled and surprised at the shite. Now I'm gonna chill to some real music by real musicians

You didn't say that when he got Malcolm J Warner on stage to rap at the Caberet Metro. You loved that shit and almost called the law

. i hear you and agree. but what to do? give him an unplugged instrument and tell him to go practice his air guitar some more??? but seriously, there are actually quite a few positive responses to the album, if you can look past the foolish posts

I'm on my first listen, i'm on track four. If this had been released without any hype/promo/bs for free as a mixtape on an official prince website i think the views would have been in general more positive.

Take no notice of the sausage guy, he was the same with AOA. At first he hated it and started a load of threads saying how shit it was but a week later he loved it. Had a This Could B US t-shirt and U Know ringtone. . So this time next week he'll be singing around the house he's a Rita bot (or a blood clot) and talking about burning pasta. In June

Seriously though, I don't think my opinion will nudge much on this one. After multiple listens, the only song that has grown on me is Shut This Down. I still really like 1,000 X's and O's and June, like I said on my first listen. I think Hardrocklover is good but not great. I've always hated X's Face, and I think TCBU remix is atrocious. What damns this album to me is that the lows are REALLY low. His lowest yet, in my opinion. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

In June Also, I wasn't the same with AOA. I loved AOA from the beginning. It was the initial singles that I didn't like at first. But I quickly liked Clouds and thought Funknroll was pretty good. As an album, AOA sold me on everything (aside from the opening track). If we're going to spend time dredging up my opinions from a year ago, let's at least be accurate. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I agree with you on HitnRun. Only 2 decent songs on it for me - 1000 Hugs & Kisses and Hardrocklover. . The A-Team couldn't save the rest of it.

I pretty much agree with you here. I do not think I will be able to play shut this down so many times that I will actually like it but 1000 XOs etc and HDL are the better tracks, but not sure about June...it is sort of pretend haunting, it is sometimes like you see through the matrix and realise it is a little bit on the dull side. I don't know. I will survive on reggae and D until phase 2.

I don't know. I will survive on reggae and D until phase 2. June reminds me a lot of Reflection, one of my favorite recent Prince songs. (Does 2004 still count as recent?) It has very unusual song structure, lyrics that are now personal and stream-of-consciousness than his usual lyrics, and a different tone than the rest of the album. I can see how people don't like it though. Maybe I like it because I've also burned pasta before and felt like an idiot! "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"
