New songs! That's a nice surprise, even if the preview doesn't thrill me much. Hopefully it isn't a proper representation of what's in store. It has a Da Bourgeoisie vibe, which has grown on me, and if it's anything like Judith's album, it should be at least half decent.
On a different note, 'Grenadine', the song by Natalya Phillips that was posted to the Prince3EG twitter yesterday is really beautiful and haunting. If Prince released an album like that, I would shit my pants. Hundalasiliah! |

So this is an interesting development. Does it say anywhere if it will be released on Warners? If so then Prince seems to have succeeded in getting Warners to release his music at the rate he originally wanted, the issue that caused the whole dispute with them in the first place. If he has also got his masters back then he seems to have got everything he wanted from Warners without giving them what they wanted, i.e. remasters and out-takes (as far as we know).
If u look at the copyright notice on iTunes Baltimore was NOT released thru WB. The licencing deal with WB concerns the old WB albums but P is still free to release new music on any label he wishes. |

Love the groove. Dunno why, but it reminds me of classic Steely Dan. Hope it's a whole album and not just a single. |

Does "this Summer" mean late fall? I think we will see some singles this summer and won't get an album until fall or winter. He did not say new "album" this summer. I just want to keep our expectations realistic. [Edited 5/27/15 8:17am] |

Last two #1 albums "ArtOfficialAge" & "PlectrumElectrum" was marketed & distributed through WBR...

But WB released his last 2 albums didn't they? Either way, the end result seems to be that Prince has engineered a situation where he can release albums at the frequency he always wanted, got his masters back and yet Warners don't seem to be getting what they wanted in return. It seems weird that he couldn't achieve this scenario at the height of his popularity but appears to have pulled it off now. [Edited 5/27/15 8:47am] |

There is something that reminds of something in We Gets Up. I don't think anyone said the 2 sound alike. Stop trying to find any bloody excuse to shit on everything Prince does, for fuck's sake! |

What do the bees symbolise here, I'm confused?
Anyway, glad to hear there will be new music soon, if it's good that will be good, and if it's not good I can always listen to much of the other good music that has been released recently. Whatever happens, it's a good time to be me!

First thing's first
We like U 2 stare
We used 2 go on stage
In R underwear
We changed up
We got a brand new beat
Now we got the sound
That's poppin' in the street
They all stare
Can eye help U?
Everybody jam
Cuz this party's goin' HAM
Just stare
Can eye help U?
Ain't nobody stoppin'
Cuz we got this party poppin' now
Second thing's first
We know U got thirst
But we like it when U feinin'
4 the funk until it hurts
Ur hair
Can U blame me?
Everytime U whip it 2 the beat
It make a brother just stare
Sister freak
Nobody got a chance
U need 2 back up
Let me show U how 2... "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide." |

Oh look, yet another instantly forgettable bland pop funk track that features him boasting. Because we don't yet have enough of that tripe yet, apparently.

It is really bland.
Can somebody educate me, cause I'm coming off of caffeine right now, and can't really think straight. how do we know that this is part of a summer release of new music? I'm confused. I can't see where this indicates anything is coming this summer. It might as well be the same thing as "2013 is going to be huge!", but even that at least was explicitly stated by the Prince camp. I can't see anything that says we're getting new music this summer.
Besides, AOA and PE were just released last fall.

It sounds similar to "Da Bourgeoisie" and that's okay, but after hearing "The X's Face" I hope, instead, that Prince has another album on the way produced by Joshua Welton.
