I can't see where this indicates anything is coming this summer. It might as well be the same thing as "2013 is going to be huge!", but even that at least was explicitly stated by the Prince camp. I can't see anything that says we're getting new music this summer.

Besides, AOA and PE were just released last fall.

In the video it shows "NEWFUNK BY PRINCE THIS SUMMER".

He can't write poetry like that anymore. It's been a long time since he penned any lyrics that aren't somewhat cringeworthy. The best I can hope for is that they're not as stupid as, say, Baltimore. I'll take generic party boasting over Baltimore any day. Yeah, real clash of the Titans, right? I like the deep, organic funk sound of these snippets. It's better than The X's Face. No chimp sounds at least. But possibly an explosion. I'll take explosions over chimps any day.

It's like when I saw Patti Labelle live circa 2000, and she started doing the Bankhead Bounce during When You Talk About Love. You gotta let Memaw and Pepaw feel like they're "with the times," sometimes. We'll all get there one day if we're lucky.

I wondered if Prince would come out with something like this. It has to have caught his attention just how massively successful "Uptown Funk" has been, which copies his 80s sound so much that my son thought it was Prince the first time he heard it.

You know, its funny to me when people say that about Uptown Funk because it sounds ALOT more like various other 80's funk bands more than Prince to me. It has a small hint of The Time in it but sounds NOTHING like Prince, in musical composition or lyrics.

Y'know...I was holding my nose before Art Official Age came out and I actually ended up liking it (on balance). So even though these snippets don't do much for me, I'm going to go with "wait and see."
