I hear, "...my bass fly american plane..." and i'm pretty sure that's not right, but i can't get that phrase out of my head now!
Prost! I hear "this one isn't for you" We Can Funk

I'm glad to hear Prince played the song last night in Louisville. |

Kinda fun track I like the vibe/melody of the lyrics, it's just a shame about the "music" and production - or lack of it, there's absolutely nothing going on at all, can we have at least a little bit of rhythm, like just a little?....

My only complaint on the song is those ridiculous "chimp noises"....cringe-worthy. Other than that, I like the song.

SuperFurryAnimal said: Listened to this new song about 5 times earlier today. Can't remember it now. I think some of this new music just lacks that special melody that I would remember and start to hum and want to play song again. I think the song had an interesting style and I like the humor in it but 5 years from now I doubt I will year to hear it. The next Prince song I heard today after "The Ex's Face" was "Mountains".... Which brought it all home. Songwriting. Melody. Structure. Its like 2 different people. His music used to be much more sophisticated. I really think he's done. That's not a criticism, just a fact of life. And its OK- there's always the old albums to play. Its almost like he strives for mediocrity. And with 3rdeyegirl, plays down to their level. In any event, we are so far removed from the " Parade" level creativity/songwriting- its like an entirely different artist.

That was so nice of to that for his fans! But of course none of the thousands that purchased tickets, didn't mention this. So ungrateful.... will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

You get the fuck over it. Period. NO YOU! The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

I like it a lot but it does need a bridge or something. Would have fit in really well on AOA. I might have replaced one of the ballads with this one.

Wow! that's quite a different take. Anyone else care to make suggestion? "Whatever skin we're in

I know that, its ok I have it now, I can answer my own question!

My problem with this song is the hokey lyrics ("Black don't crack, beige don't fade") and uninspired musicianship. This sounds like something he slapped together with little forethought. [Edited 3/15/15 11:59am]

i like it.

Maybe it is. Sometimes Prince just puts down little sketches or silly crap - not everything is a 13 minute jazz-funk suite.

I appreciate that Prince has been trying to "modernize" his sound a little and that was evident on AOA. I liked those results but this borders on dubstep which is a very limited and spent genre. It didn't catch on like many had hope din the mainstream realm. I also feel like this is not a finished song, it's quite short. It should have some other texture - maybe a guitar or another keyboard riff.

. compressed to shit . Just to clarify before someone gets on my case about it: The compression i'm talking about is the 'brickwalling' type that happens during mastering, not the 'compression' of file size that happens during encoding to an mp3. These aren't mp3s. [Edited 3/15/15 13:02pm]

Nah. "Funk N Roll" is needed. If there's one thing I don't like about AOA is that it's a tad slow and a song like this one might have dialed it up a bit.
.
I think it's hilarious you edited one of the shortest posts I've seen on the forum TWICE. Did you delete something or just fuck up that bad? 10 words and 2 edits. I'm not fucking with you. I just think it's funny.
.
And, yeah. The sound it pretty bad. Very tinny.

But, I remember during the AOL PE/AOA listening party there was talk about releasing a complilation album of material(ie: X's Face, ect). Is this possibly how we will get these tracks as a thank u for attending each show? Thouhgts?

Mountains is one of my absolute favorite songs of his, especially the 12" version. He hasn't put out anything even close to being that good in at least 20 years. Sad but true.
