I've listened to it a few times now. It's not much more than a dashed off, half-baked funk jam like the stale High era material. The monkey noises are corny as fuck. At least What If has passion. The song blows. But it seems like he cared for at least 10 minutes.

Maybe you better go listen to Montreux 2013 for a while... lol

I might need to. That third night set has some great moments.

I think AOA smokes The Ex's Face.

Just listened. This song is very very funky. I don't know what all the complaning is about for those that have. It's definitely all Prince with no 3EG involvement. Stripped down and to the point like Kiss. Alot of good Prince attitude in it as well. I like the sound. Sounds current and relevant and forward thinking all at the same time to me. If this is the direction he is going in count me in! Oh lawd, we about 2 get funky!

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Really like it. Really do - nice effort and quite playful, but then he ruins it. WTF is going on with that monkey noise?! It's insane but not in a good way, not like Camille or Bob George voices or other non sequiturs...just like, why? Why? Maybe he's become a Chelsea fan? Even the lazers in The Breakdown sound subtle and well placed in comparison. Someone have a word will you?

I was big into (underground) house and techno at that time and I thought Prince's attempts sucked big time. Admittedly the production sounds a bit dated now, but I always thought back then he could have a huge hit if he'd do something like this Princely sounding "wanna be":

Wow those vocals really sound like Prince at points.

I got two sides... and they're both friends.

Im kinda near you on this one. Doesn't do much for me. It could fit as a filler track on an album like the Slaughterhouse and I'd listen to it not a track I'd ever seek out I don't think. Im more a fan of What If and everything on AOA & PE tbh.

Change it one more time..

Thats the first thing I fixated on as well. Its like the feeling I got listening to the crowd noise on Pop Life, and then the chipmunk voice on BCW. Eventually I grew to accept them I still wish those intentional song ruinings never existed.

This is dope. He definitely should keep Josh around. The production lately sounds fresh. Much better than the 3rdeyeGirl stuff.

And AOA is vastly underrated. I'm still listening to that album.

Listened to this new song about 5 times earlier today. Can't remember it now. I think some of this new music just lacks that special melody that I would remember and start to hum and want to play song again. I think the song had an interesting style and I like the humor in it but 5 years from now I doubt I will year to hear it. What if, has some good guitar in it. This one has interesting elements but I believe it is an early version or demo. If this is on an album I can't wait to hear the rest. Thankful for these new songs.
What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

I'm surprised no one has brought this up, but the "monkey noises" seem like a dig at Morris Day... that's the "Jungle Love" ooo-ooo-ooo-ah-ah-ah, and P is mimicing it. Listen to that whole section... it seems aimed at Morris.

Personally I think it's aimed more at Bruno Mars and today's artificial music fans

And for anyone that is slightly offended by this or any line...get the f over yourself!

Prince is corny.

You thought this song would be the next The Ballad of Dorothy Parker. Of course it's not. Even the shittiest song released between '82-'87 is better than the best track he got up his sleeve. lol

Yea this has been a running theme. Some more some less, but 90's onwards always a certain degree of cornyness,

Is he hinting that the next show will be in New York by releasing the single to a New York raditio station??

I sure hope so! Just please use a real band and not those girls. (Ida can stay - she can actually play. The other two are generic players at best)

I don't get the Pheromone(great song - rarely equaled since) comparisons.

And anyone who had a hard time finding this..It should not have taken more than 5 seconds.

Cool song, nothing special but obviously a demo so sound/production quality is irrelevant.

Not bad at all and way better than "What If". This track and "U Know" could have been club bangers with the right remix and producer. The monkey sound bothered me though. I think Prince should just call up Pharrell after this 3rdeyegirl era is over. Each time I go to best buy I check out the Prince section and about 11 copies of AOA just sit there, week after week. It's sad.

If you go to yourlisten.com and type in exsface you can listen to the track (hope that is okay to tell people that)

"I think Prince should just call up Pharrell after this 3rdeyegirl era is over"? That is the LAST person that he should call. So they can just copy some 70s song and put new lyrics to it? That dude, who is on some really embarrassingly bad tv show, is as over rated and unoriginal as it gets. Get Lucky, Girl and Happy are 3 lame pop tunes that pale in comparison to any great Prince songs from back in the day. If there is anyone I would like to see him work with it would be Questlove and D'Angelo who has completely blown by Prince (and just about everyone else) creatively. I saw D'Angelo in NYC the other night and was completely floored by his 2 1/2 hour show mixing funk, rock, soul & r n b.

But I really don't think I can get past this - the others you mentioned never really jarred for me but this makes me think is he just doing it now on purpose? Like in the next song will there be the noise of him doing a dump or scratching his balls? I love Morrissey too - but his last album had too many faux experimental beginnings to songs that it became see through. Fucking monkey sound!!

I dig the track.

This one has me going back to listen again and again.

Can anyone make out what he's saying with the slowed-down voice?

I hear,

"...my bass fly american plane..."

and i'm pretty sure that's not right, but i can't get that phrase out of my head now! lol
