If it is about her thats interesting. I was trying to decipher what he could be referring to by letting a monkey take a banana and get back in their cage. As in he let someone take what they wanted from him and he let them go back to their world.
Isn't that always the stance he takes lyrically in these type of songs? Regardless of who it's about, if anyone at all, he often falls back on the "you tried to play me, but it was me playing you all the long" trope to save face. |

You cannot measure the quantity of songs using a measurement of weight. A song does not weigh anything. Please appropriate the correct unit of measurement when trying to quantify the number of songs, large or small, of which you factually speak.
Also, please can you show me where you got the "fact" that there are many [heavy] songs better than Mountains written in the past 20 years? I would like access to your source because I really need to prove to the org that the best Prince album is Lovesexy. Unfortunately too many opinions keep getting in the way.
And lastly, I can imagine how difficult it must be to seperate what you say for real, and what the voices in your head make you think you say. Saying "for real" at the end of a statement probably enables you to differentiate between speaking in the real world and speaking to the green ducks in noo noo land. When you grow up and start speaking like grown ups do, it will get easier for you. In time you will be able to say something and not feel the need to inform the org that you have actually, really, just said something "for real". Even if what you say is complete and utter garbage, which it undoubtedly will be. How amazing is that going to be for you? Now, isnt it time you fed your ducks?
tl;dr
Grow up....
Hahaha oh my God, priceless. Some people have so much time in their hands to write all this shit.
Having been a grown up for a large portion of my life, I find writing 3 short paragraphs pretty quick and easy. As you get older you may find your digital transcribing proficiency increase too. |

Interesting!
I'm curious as to what most people would concider "The Camille sound"?
To me it's those late 80s tracks with a quite minimal, electronic backing, and pitched up and down vocals... although in reality the tracks scheduled for the "Camille" project are quite varied.
Obviously this doesn't have exactly that same sound, it's more modern, but the stripped down electro vibe and distorted vocals reminded me of those tracks.
Maybe I'm hearing things!!??

The "hate" here is just unbearable? Grow up and stop using that chilish term. A lie? It's called an opinion. We all have them. Go ahead, name one single song as good as Mountains from the last 20 years. There are none.
You're very, very sad if you think there hasn't been a better song than Mountains in the past 20 years. In fact, there are TONS. I suggest you go follow another artist. For real.
Name a few. TONS? Name a few. They are definitely not on any of his albums. I'm very, very sad? I just call them how I hear them. I like a song here and there over the last 20 years but very few really good ones compared to back in the day. |

You talk about having opinions, yet you state there are no better songs than Mountains, so where is the respect for other people who think there are? This is my point, I'm all for having different opinions, but then people sound patronising and make jokes about people who like the recent output and of course in your book theu don't understand music. My two cents. |

that' pretty much it. "Shockedilica", "Housequake", "Good Love"...stuff like that.
Regarding "Mountains", what's wrong with saying "'Mountains' is one of my all time favorite songs" and other people saying "I like several other songs a lot more" and just leave it at that? I'm not sure I'd put "Mountains" in my top 50, 75 or even 100 Prince tracks but I like it. [Edited 3/18/15 9:21am] |

Rebirth of the Flesh, Housequake, Strange Relationship, Feel U Up, Shockadelica, Good Love, If I Was Your Girlfriend, Rockhard in a Funky Place, U Got the Look & Scarlet Pussy were all songs credited to "Camille" with all but the last two were to be on the Camille album back in 1986 that was canceled weeks prior to its release.
As for Mountains, if anyone has never heard the long/12'' version, check it out. A vintage Revolution era jam! If I remember correctly, that is what they were playing at the end of the movie "Under The Cherry Moon". Probably the best part of an otherwise weak movie. |

You remembered right (UTCM credits). "Mountains" is great. I love it. Those were good examples of the "Camille" sound too. Funny enough, when Prince did it on "Breakfast Can Wait", everyone here hated it and called it a "chipmunk voice". Go figure. |

The more I listen to this song, the less I like it. The problem is...I just can't get over that idiotic chimp sounds, and the context it was used. I know Prince is black, but it reeks of racism. How? He talks about black skin not ageing or cracking, then the very next line he's talking about giving a banana to let that person back in a cage. Do I even need to explain how racist this sounds? If this was song by Eminem (or any other white artist), their would be a firestorm saying "White Artist making Racist Lyrics", but since it's by Prince, we'll just give him a pass. Am I calling Prince a racist? No. I don't know the weirdo's heart, but I do know that lyric was childish and flatout stupid. |

That movie was universally panned as it should have been. I can remember being very disappointed at the time when it came out. It was hard to watch it was so bad. Luckily the soundtrack was very good but was unfortunately the last Prince album released with The Revolution. Kristin Scott Thomas, the actress who I'm guessing that you said Prince "christened", was nominated but never won an Oscar in her career. You may want to check your facts. She was however nominated for The Golden Raspberry Awards for Worst Supporting Actress and Worst New Star for her performance in UTCM. She lost however and went on to have a long and illustrious career.

This is true. Before UTCM, Kristin was known as Bobby "G" Spot - the name her loving parents, Mr. and Mrs. Spot from Lincolnshire, gave her (except for the "G").
Prince christened her "Kristin Spot Thomas" at the audtion, Jerome changed 'Spot' to 'Scott' (referencing Gill Scott Herron) and the rest is history.
Prince also taught her French, why is why Kristin is so successfull in both English and French movies.

Where in the world are these new tracks?! When you have to dig this much just to find a "surprise new song" from an artist, it isn't even worth it. Does he even want to get his music out there? Or just tease everyone? Plus, that crazy "Your Listen" website makes no sense, and I clicked on an additional song link from there which resulted in a "threat blocked" from my antivirus software. I listened to the song on "YourListen", no problem at all. Although I wish I hadn't.
Has there ever been an artist like Prince, destroying his legacy one crappy song/album at a time? It's fascinating, in a perverse way. It's the only perversity he has left...
