If the world of music were like an amusement park, say, Cedar Point, then you have many choices of which to enjoy.
There are plenty of rides and attractions. Prince's music to me is like the wild, big rides...the roller coasters. A trip; an experience. They stand out and take you higher, lower, and faster-they loop you. As fun and exciting as they are, if all a person ever did was ride the roller coasters, then he/she truly hasn't experienced everything Cedar Point has to offer.
It's all good.

This might sound strange, but XTC is right up there in terms of sheer song-writing prowess and creativity. XTC doesn't use a lot of the post-production effects, though, and sometimes I wish they would, but I'll just leave that to apples and oranges (or oranges and lemons?). Almost every XTC album requires a great deal of chewing to fully appreciate, which is probably why they aren't more popular than they are. But this is one of the things that makes them great. When you're done chewing, you find that you have truly swallowed something...er...wonderful...

Who are XTC?

I'd have to say that Prince is my favorite.
Though I do listen to a hell of a lot of other
artists (I have over 2,000 albums on CD/LP).

So who are they? (XTC)

They are a British band that's been around for at least 2 decades. Their music has a quasi-folk feel to it, but it's much more complex.

It probably depends on my mood and the seasons of my life. Lately I've been listening to a lot of EW&F in my car as I drive back and forth to work, or run errands. And currently I prefer it to Prince. This is coming not too long after I bought the ONA box set. EW&F is what I listened to during my jr. and sr. high school days, back when there was "no such thing as Prince". And they're still good.
...
Wanna thank you, Wanna thank you
We just wanna give Gratitude
Got plenty love we wanna give to you
With good music we're tryin' to say
That the Good Lord's gonna make a way

Open up your heart, let your body find,
Freedom in your stride, love, peace of mind
One more time and we got to say
That the Good Lord gonna make a way.

Another good thread question ANji. FOr me a very hard one to
answer. i've been a passinate music fan for years and listen
to every style of music-with the exception of bluegrass.
my taste is more eclectic than most people i know...

as far as where Prince stands...heres' my all-time faves
(who i never get tired of listening to)
1.beatles (i have more of their music than anybody)
2 curtis mayfield...he's the main old schooler i play every
day)
3.PRINCE...i got the most stuff by him (aside from curtis &
beatles)
4.bob marley 5.smokey robinson 6.james brown 7.miles davis
8.chi-lites 9.stevie wonder 10.sarah vaughan 11.isleys

i dig funk,doo-wop,old 60's r & b,lindsay buckingham,marvin,
gregory issacs..girl groups from the 60's-70..JImi,everly
brothers,..dizzy.louis jordan,reggae..ska
basically P's been my main guy the past 23 years.
and only loses out to the first 2 cuz...they're OLDER!!!
