you know I do.I Like man Artists Period.Right Now R.Kelly gets the most play lately.The Isley Brothers,Hendrix,Michael Jackson,Rick James,Sly&The Family Stone,Aretha Franklin,Miles Davis,Coltrane,Quincy Jones,etc...
You prefer R. Kelly to Prince?!
from the 90's on-ward Yes.80's Prince nope not quite on that Level IMHO.but those other on My List are.R.Kelly is Badd though.I'd take 90's R.Kelly through Now Over Prince though.
You must really enjoy R'n'B, maxxx. Do you think Emancipation knocked R. Kelly into shape?
I Love Music Period.for me in the 90's Prince got Corny&Lost that Edge&Vibe He had.I think He is back a bit over the past couple of Years in a Good Way but still not Great IMHO."Emanciapation" Sounded like Prince trying to keep up with R.Kelly,Babyface,Dr.Dre.Teddy Riley,etc... for me in the 90's Prince was playing catch-up&Like a Boxer who had been knocked down twice He was on the ropes almost hanging outside with a Standing 7 Count
That's cold, maxxx. Likening Prince to Mike Tyson?
I Still dig both Tyson&Prince but in there Professions nowadays Tyson still is interesting&Might even Win a Belt.
Are you suggesting Prince may never regain his throne, maxxx?
He won't because all Great Acts have there time&Place.Michael Jackson is a Great Example of this: He still can make a Great Album or so&still Rock it Live&whatnot but those Days where He was stuck at the top are gone.Prince is in the same boat because a whole New Era of Fans&Whatnot want Artists that they can touch&relate to.Cats like MJ&Prince can still School many on stage but studio stuff is all Subjective IMHO&I don't see either One making a Knock-Out Ass Album that everybody vibes on like back in the day but they can each Make a Great Album for Fans that Respect there Talent.

I can't really explain this one, maxxx. My thoughts are somewhat contradictory.

Whilst I don't think his music in this day and age would improve should he chose to go the commercial route, and compete with the current hit makers, I still find it a sad story that Prince has past his mad genius days. You know, those spirited times when he had that funk.

I enjoyed Maxwell's 'Urban Hang Suite' and 'Embrya,' aswell as D'angelo's 'Brown Sugar' and 'Voodoo.' In this vein, Muse 2 The Pharoah was genius.

Of course there are other artists that I like to listen too like Beck, but there is only one artist that I prefer to Prince and that is Terence Trent D'Arby / Sananda Maitreya. And I don't care if you, Anji, think he's not that great lol lol
I can't imagine Prince winning back the Number 1 position as my favourite artist that he once had! Of course you never know what's going to happen, but I'm quite sure that it is more likely that I will enjoy ather acts more than Prince in the future as well than Prince regaining the number 1 spot.

I prefer Radiohead to Prince nowadays, because they are at their peak right now and make innovative great records. I like Nick Cave, The Cure, The Beatles and many contemporary british Bands like Oasis, Coldplay, Turin Brakes, The Coral, Suede, Placebo, too.

My favourite artist is Prince, but my favourite album is India Arie's 'Accoustic Soul'.

I had the pleasure of seeing India live last night (front row seats) and she is a phenomenal vocalist. As an instrumentalist she needs some work, but overall, her songwriting and singing are out of this world.

Anyone else like her or seen her live.

Prince has been THE defining musical artist of my life. The only artist I've come to hold in higher esteem is Joni Mitchell. That woman is G-d.

I like alot of other singers, Like Bruce Springstein, Norah Jones, Dixie Chicks, Avril Laveign ( I don't knwo exactly how you spell it),Justin Timberlake ~Solo~, the list goes on. But I think that Prince is the top of the list because of his talents though. nod

I've hated Madonna for most of my life, but have gotten into her recently after the last 2 or 3 albums. I think she took singling lessons.

But to answer the main question...no. I go through periods where I don't do any Prince at all, but there's no one artist that rises up to his level. That said, there are a few individual SONGS out there that surpass his work...but since no one else voted for "Da Bang" on the favorite Prince song thread I fear that may taste may be questioned.
