Any one know why AOL is on 2 vinyl records? With only 3 songs on each side. Weird. There was a proper thread for this question...but it disappeared. lol

I'd kill for the Roadhouse Garden album. I'd also like the album from 2008 that was set to include 'Prince and the Band' and 'Turn Me Loose'.

There are likely a thousand or more songs in the vault we have no awareness of, including many completed albums. I remember Prince having more that one in the can in '98, including a rock album and more were mentioned in 2001.

Vinyl is designed to have the best sound quality at around 45 minutes. Anything over is going to be a double album, or a poorer sounding single album. I think AOA is around 53 minutes, unless I'm having a brain malfunction. Now since AOA and PE are mastered so poorly, they easily could have made it a single vinyl. Sound quality doesn't mean much to Prince anyways based on the brickwalling and poor mastering of the last few years.

It must suck for the guys that put these out that there's already so much new stuff leaked already.

I love some of the stuff unearthed in BFTP, but have an odd sense of buyer's (a word I use loosely, of course) remorse.

The old, unreleased stuff is great, but I hate that commercially available stuff is on there. It's almost like you feel like a part of liberating something special and fun when you obtain the underground stuff, but when it's getting songs like "Fallinlove2nite," "Extraloveable Reloaded," etc. without paying for them (even ones for which I already paid!), it feels seedy and morally wrong. Give me 12 minutes of "Purple Rain" and I'm Che Guevara. Throw in "Groovy Potential" and I'm a filthy pirate.

Look, we're stealing. We all know it. But it's fun, and a theoretically victimless crime (I would guess Prince would disagree with me, but he has my number if he wants a piece), because we all know we'd buy this stuff if he put it on a record. But why can't the bootleggers adhere to the morally grey standard under which I feel comfortable operating?

Also, what has two thumbs and is dying to hear The Flesh?

After days of hunting, I was able to finally track this down along with The Flesh Sessions.

The Flesh Sessions are incredible. Good to finally hear Junk Music.

The Standouts on Blast from the Past 2.0 are Around The World In A Day, Don't Let Him Fool Ya, Toy Box, Everybody Wants What They Don't Got and Kiss Me Quick.

Not sure if Dance Electric full version is supposed to be part of the set, but it was included and sounds awesome.

Also found an instrumental of Love Song by Prince/Madonna, had no idea that existed.

Well said.

Very well-said. I know some people want music on pressed discs, and since Prince never physically released most of that stuff, it makes sense from that point of view, but since the sound quality of the downloads is from average to horrible...it really makes no sense. Eye is a vulture company, and know that some fans want all their music on cds. There are still a few people out there who don't know how to download, or simply don't want to. And I doubt Eye is really a company...probably just a few guys trying to make a buck in a bad economy. Just not an honest buck.

Every discovery on the "vault" is appreciated, but to be honest an instrumental version of "Love Song" is something that don't give me more than a brief interest.

Yes, the music is obviously good but what makes this song unique are P-Maddy vocals.

It's been a busy work week so I'm just getting to dive into this today.

So far, Don't Let Him Fool Ya was a nice surprise and right now I'm really digging this version Around The World In A Day. Is that some backmasking low in the mix?

cool

EDIT: Just saw this, thanks for the info BigChick!!

BigChick said:

"Around the World in A Day" would actually be version #3 with a time of 5:07. #1=5:57 & #2=5:15. It sounds very close to #2 but with some different edits here and there. What is of interest, towards the end of the song where theres alot of backwards masking (similar to "Girl) between Prince and possibly Jonathan Melvoin.

Okay, I was all about ignoring the stuff that I already bought from Prince but then I noticed this:

Disc 4 track 11 Fixurlifeup Remix

I don't remember seeing this before, what's the origin of this one?

I'm guessing it's a Josh remix, similar to the Pretzel one that was played on the PA at some shows and the FUNKNROLL one on AOA.
