In the end I understand why I hardly ever agree with anyone on this website when it comes to Prince's music. Once again no criticism or anything meant, but when it comes to musical tastes I globally just don't belong here

TBH me too but I like to be challenged. One of the things I actually like about the org is that see people obsessing about these R'n'B artists i'd never have given time to or even have heard of otherwise.

He hardly ever had anything to do with the electronic music tradition in terms of genre, by that I mean everything that happened from Kraftwerk to breakbeat, including house, jungle, trip-hop, techno and all that (it was always more a European and Japanese thing that American overall anyway), but like hip-hop and electrofunk, his music has always been and remains filled with typical electronic elements (synth, drum machines, programming, sound effects and samples). In that sense this is probably one huge reason why I enjoy his music, because I'm more fond of electronic sounds than electric or acoustic instruments. But I'm glad u love me

^ I'm also very surprised to see so little love for the whole synthpop revival movement of the last 12 years or so, that started with electroclash and then exploded in every possible direction, including LOTS of Prince influences. I find the influence of Prince's "classic" sound, energy and spirit (Prince and the Mplsound as a whole) waaaay more proeminent in many of those artists than in anything produced by any R&B artist for the last 20 years!

Of course most of those artists have careers that started a decade ago or less so that's why I guess they didn't produce enough music to count among anyone's favorite artists, so I don't mean I'm surprised to not see them in this thread, but I see few mentions of that movement on the Org overall even though I think this is where Prince's heritage lies the most in the end.
