12 months in & the album is still sat in a box somewhere...even with the listening sessions it sounds like a lonnnng way off SO what are your thoughts:

1] It comes with the territory, happy to wait but wont stress on it - i have a life & better/other music to listen to!

2] Way past caring, the momentum has been lost & I am sick of waiting.

3] I CANNOT wait, I look at the org / twitter etc daily for updates - I NEEEEED THIS CD NOW!

I think it is pretty typical for records to sit on shelves long after they are complete. Especially with prince. The fact they we knew it was complete a long time ago is due to the interweb age. I think it is a huge frustration for many artists. You see them fighting with labels all the time because they take too long to release the music when it is done and they get pissed and want to leave. I think it happened with Aimee Mann and M I A .. certainly many more ..

In this instance tho I am happy to wait another 5 years. the longer prince waits the more likely he will put together something refined and excellent like he used to. I want his next release to really mean something special to the world and to prince. Not just these little quick records he throws together without much care or thought.

Option 2.

Although the whole Plectrum Electrum project has large potential, it mainly shows that Prince isn't a good businessmen.

#3 - There is nothing that can happen that will douse my enthusiasm for this record. I can't wait!

3, although I'm more eager for the solo album and if Plectrum Electrum doesn't get released 'soon' as the girls said then 3 will quickly become 2.

he been in the business of Prince for 4 decades, If he sucked at business, he wouldnt be here.. Thats a fact..you may not liek how he handles some things but suck he doesnt.. He has negotiated the highest performance and licensing fees in the business; if he sucked,m he wouldnt get them

If I had to pick one or the other, I'd pick synthpop, but I do love the rock vibe too. I think most of what we've heard from this album is incredibly strong material - FunkNRoll, PretzelBodyLogic, FixUrLifeUp..... I like all of these songs a lot.

Where's the don't care either way option? Is that number 1?

Take your pick. I would love to hear the album, just as I would have loved to hear many albums he's worked on that we haven't heard. At least they're some singles out there to hear, better than nothing anyway. Time will tell.

2, but I'll get it when it comes out. I kinda think that it would have been released already if it was that good. Folks in the industry are not biting for a reason.

I was never excited, nor do I truly care about the album. I haven't been a fan of any of the songs they've released already. If the album actually comes out, I'll listen to it. But I have no expectations whatsoever. I am looking forward to Prince's new solo album, though.

I'm thoroughly exasperated with P's juvenile and ultra-greedy antics. However, if the album (any album) ever comes out, I'll buy it.

I was at option #3 until January of this year

and have now moved on to option #1. My

enthusiasm has faded and i just accept I

will see when I see it and if I never see it

so be it.

Option 1

I'd like to see a "Prince" record on WB timed with the release of the Purple Rain re-issue. Then--when P goes on a massive US tour to promote the new record with 3rd Eye Girl as his band--he can sell Plectrum Electrum CD's at the concerts. Maybe throw in some 3EG songs during the shows to drum up interest. Of course the whole thing needs to be on iTunes, Amazon, etc. as well.

All I really want is P's version of The Unexpected. I absolutely loved it when I heard it over the PA back in Feb.
