This is a familiar scenario to those of us who've been around for a while. Not much to do but wait. I remember walking into a record store in Lawrence, KS and I had no notice that Mavis' record Time Waits For No One was going to be released, but I walked right over to where it was on the shelf and picked it up. I somehow knew it was a record Prince was involved in, there was just an energy about it. Diamonds & Pearls had various iterations before it finally came out. Newpowersoul was released with not much advanced notice or publicity, it was just suddenly there in the store it seemed. It's always frustrating waiting for the new music to be released, but I remain hopeful it will be worth the wait.

For some reason I have a feeling the album will be released in a matter of a few days. 3Rdeyegirl tweeted "Hunger strike until PlectrumElectrum is released..." Now you know Prince wouldnt let us starve.LOL

I guess some people of heard it and haven't commented on the following but my worry is that it's an album full if endorphinmachines; you hear it live before it's on CD and think 'this is awesome'...the the disc drops and it turns out to be this weak studio track with its teeth removed and a chunky cowbell around its neck

I guess at least thus time we know there's nobody who's main job is to play a cowbell ....wait a second!!!

Option 1 100%.

Prince can play his games as long as he likes, he always does. When he releases whatever he releases i'll listen. I'm looking forward to it but I would like it to still be an actual 3rd eye girl album by the time he releases it though.

2 None of the 3EG material does much for me. In fact I find Pretzlbodylogic and Fixurlifeup to be quite embarrassingly bad. No lyrical bite, simplistic melodies and it's apparent to me that rock bluster is used to cloud the juvenile nature of the songs...turn it up to ten, add some dry ice and maybe people won't notice??

Who knows if that is the tracklist, IMO it is just a list of songs that should be slated for PlectrumElectrum, combining the order things were heard during the latest listening party, and obviously the journalist reporting that FunkNRoll was the last song he heard that night.

I'm not one to usually say anything bad before having heard the stuff, and I usually like his recent output, but if these were indeed the songs on PE, then:

- Wow, Plectrum Electrum, and AnotherLove, I can't wait to hear

- Aint Turning Around and Stop This Train, why would I want 2 songs with Hannah on lead vocals (love her as a drummer btw) and Donna on lead solos on a Prince album? and please don't say this is not a Prince album.

- Pretzelbodylogic and FixUrLifeUp, they are nothing trascendental and I hate the fact that the solos are not from Prince

- TicTacToe, Marz and Whitecaps, again need to know that Prince is on vocals and not all solos are from Donna.

Sorry but I need Prince vocals and Prince on guitar solos, after 4 years I deserve it lol I know other people might not give a f**k about all this and don't care about solos and vocals...

Just my 2 cents

This has always been a collaborative effort so I'm not surprised. The full Prince album will be later.

I was never excited, nor do I truly care about the album. I haven't been a fan of any of the songs they've released already. If the album actually comes out, I'll listen to it. But I have no expectations whatsoever. I am looking forward to Prince's new solo album, though. smile

Agreed, I'd rather hear a new Prince solo album. Although I don't really have expectations for that one either, but I will definately give a listen to whatever album Prince wishes (or should I say "manages") to release.

I don't mind if Prince doesn't play instruments on it. My favorite albums in Prince's career are the ones he has a full band on them so Donna on guitar to me is a good thing. The solo Prince songs nowadays to me are very bland. A band can only give a little life to his music. I just stopped caring about this record because of the damn wait. Thank goodness some other good albums have come out in the time being!!

Option 1

I'd like to see a "Prince" record on WB timed with the release of the Purple Rain re-issue. Then--when P goes on a massive US tour to promote the new record with 3rd Eye Girl as his band--he can sell Plectrum Electrum CD's at the concerts. Maybe throw in some 3EG songs during the shows to drum up interest. Of course the whole thing needs to be on iTunes, Amazon, etc. as well.

Prince has only promoted The Rainbow Children with a tour structured around the album in the last 21 years. Every album from 1993 except TRC has maybe had a week or two of promotion, with him only to get bored. You could argue that the Gold Experience sort of had a tour in a few international cities, but it didn't help it sell. He may have called Emancipation the album he was born to make, but the massive tour was just a medley fest with hardly any of the album's tracks played in full. And Musicology may have been one of his best tours, but he didn't play anything off it other than Life O The Party. All those good songs, and he plays the 2 weakest songs each night. No Reflection, A Million Days only partly played acoustic in Louisiana, Call My Name at select shows, oh...but he played Dear Mr Man a few times...lol. And a forgettable performance of On The Couch...at least that was a great tour...

But Prince's does NOT tour behind albums anymore. He's already played most of the Plectrum Electrum songs to death, and it is looking like it won't ever be properly released anyway. He's already given up on playing "The Breakdown," which sounded awesome live, til he ruined it with Star Wars Stormtroopers having a laser battle thorughout the song.

This is it, he tours songs while he still likes playing them, not after. I can get behind this method if he actually releases them.

That's awesome. Somehow your enthusiasm reminds me of this time my housemate plugged in the stereo downstairs and played ZZ top CDs through it. The sense of relief from moving from a horizontally compressed Fraunhoffer medium to a vertically sampled Nyquist medium really did make the effort of walking downstairs that more worthwhile, though I feel my response is deliberately missing the point of your heartfelt emotional analysis of the situation via youtube.

Well done you!

12 months in & the album is still sat in a box somewhere...even with the listening sessions it sounds like a lonnnng way off SO what are your thoughts:

1] It comes with the territory, happy to wait but wont stress on it - i have a life & better/other music to listen to!

2] Way past caring, the momentum has been lost & I am sick of waiting.

3] I CANNOT wait, I look at the org / twitter etc daily for updates - I NEEEEED THIS CD NOW!

3EG girls & Prince please feel free to join in [Josh drop the cowbells son & join in too!] lol

I've gone 3 to 1 to 2!!!

I can only answer this question with the missing '1' which exists in an alternative timeline where I did actually employ a lighter to melt through the plastic fishing wire that held up a 3121 logo in the Indigo 2007 aftershow. In this alternative timeline I have literally "stolen Prince's 1", and pinned it to my own wall feeling not even remotely happy with myself for my mendaciously deconstructive drunken stealth manouevres.

Could have stuck it on the mantell piece -

"Nice 1 you have there",

"Yes, I know - I stole it"

"Prince at the O2 was it?"

"Yeah, I saw people selling bricks on eBay so I thought"

"Can I have it back now"

"Who the fudge are you? It's just some molded polystyrene"

"Yeah and this is your alternative timeline construct manager speaking. Have you thought about stealing 1s for a living?"

"Not really, but I know several people that work in irrigation channels"

"Boink. Well maybe you should do that then instead of taking the piss out of what is already one of the most diseased redundant fetid scabrous arse in Tuesdays total bollockwhelped context unladen flaccy sputum ingesting nob rash jumbo jet landing path gash incapable of insults since ice cube nothing to complain about i've ever bore witness chuck it up"

"fine, have your alternative 1 back. This whole exchange scans like a scriptwriter from cunting pluto anyway"

Fine, still not happy with 1 to or 3 though.

Romeoblu

I can't wait to hear it.

However I just wish we had a concrete release date so then you can really look forward to it.

I think in life it's always great to have something to look forward to that you know you are going to enjoy, be it a holiday, a night out with friends, or best of all a new Prince album.

It's been so long now since I've had that feeling of a new Prince album coming. The first time I had it was 86.
