We dont get to see many Prince interviews in the UK but I watched the whole show and it was great to see him doing this stuff.

.

The only problem is we dont get any good questions. This is probably down to Prince being private. Lets face it he is still a bit mystical.

.

The big surprise was that he only played 1 new track FunkNRoll. Strange that. Also no mention of the new album at all.

.

All a bit bizarre but still enjoyed in a strange way.

.

I am not that impressed with the whole 3rd Eye Girl project to be honest. I prefer the NPG so it was good to see them back.

.

The concert in Manchester, UK was really good but I enjoyed the NPG horns at the aftershow in London in 2007. BRING THE HORNS BACK I SAY

Great show! Nice to see Prince relaxed and playful. Liv was awesome.

But.....still no release date for Plectrum? What up wit dat?!

Totally agree. From the UK. Set my alarm for 3.55 to watch it. My take on this after attending 5 UK shows in 2 weeks. Release the album now. Another wasted promo opportunity. Also he talked crap when he said now he wasn't under contract pressure he could take his time releasing albums. Everyone knows Warners tried to slow him down by allowing him to release one a year & making him trim triples to doubles & doubles to singles!! Wouldn't it be awesome if he released another 3 cd (Lotusflower) set with Kobalt?? 1.3EG 2.Prince (Breakdown, Breakfast, Groovy Potential, Ain't Gon Miss U, Same Page Different Book) 3.Liv Warfield

I would much rather have a new cd with the 3rd Eye Girl rock oriented material, with a bonus cd with live performances like the stellar version of She's Always In My Hair we just saw on Arsenio Hall.

Now, thát would be an album to get him off the auto pilot.

other years we got only 1 track or nothing at all [xtraloveable 11]).

"Screwdriver" was hardly what I'd call "burried in the vault". That song got beat to death. Re-mixes, official downloads, live promotions and everything. You sound like you want new songs, don't like them, then want old songs but don't like the way they're done, which ones he does or what have you.

.

I mean, shit, I get as frustrated as anyone with the stuff Prince releases, his business model, how he does things and all that, but this set last night was half new/half old and he even dusted off some old aftershow/B-side classics to boot so I'm not sure what you're angry about.

.

When you add up everything he's done over the last year or two and compile it, it's easily 2 brand new albums, depending on how you group the songs, plus an EP, extended remixes and even more if you grab it all and know where to look for the stuff. Dude is in his mid 50's on top of it and still tours and records like a maniac.

Was cool to see Funkenberry and Darklotus in the audience!! I wonder if they enjoyed the night.

It's great to see Prince in complete control of so many people. He's a real 'teacher' and it seemed like everyone on the stage is learning from him in some way.

He looked great as usual, even with a wig and tons of make-up.

I enjoyed SAIMH but to my ears, FunknRoll was pretty bad. And Mutiny was even worse. Wow!

Was funny to see Arsenio on the tambourine though. Man that guy and that show are as corny as ever - even worse though than back in the day. Who was the guy on keyboards? Looks like Sinbad's younger brother.

so..errr..help me out here!. Just why are people criticising P about this appearance?, he was chilled, eloquent, charming, funky, gracious & frankly a class act. Yes he's on a promo mission BUT he handled himself with pure class. As a sometimes critic of his I have to say I feel damn proud of him right now.

eye really enjoyed funk n roll .. its got a nice groove .. prince almost sounds like camille at the beginning of shockadelica .. but then meanders back to his less interesting singing style of late .. still the song isn't horrible .. eye loved the horns all night .. funk n roll reminds me of cream .. kind of harmless but not cringeworthy and almost a little bit catchy ..

eye m sorry to say that always in my hair was a bit of a let down .. the arangement is fun i guess but his singing on this was not too good and zero back up singers really made the overall vocals sound lifeless .. prince guitar solos had a few good moments tho to make up for not singing it

the liv song was pretty boring .. she has an ok voice but the song just kind of had a mood but went nowhere .. it seems like half of a song to me

eye really enjoyed mutiny .. not into the ice cream castles riff but the rest of the song was great .. did prince sing something about canada? perhaps the reignition of this song was inspired by a canadian ex eh? ... his comments about songs not being done makes me wonder if he has a version of mutiny along the lines of extraloveable .. hmmmm (that was an arsenio nod btw)

the huge musical drawback was that hannah really should not be his drummer .. she is cute but her drumming is just so plodding .. that is fine sometimes i guess but prince could really use a drummer with snap .. this girl sounds like she is playing pillows ... again i like the look of donna too and she would be fine as rythm guitar but her leads were not impressive at all .. prince played well tho on his leads

the interviews were super fun and great!!!! prince clothes .. not so much .. i like some of the style but he is still not rockin the pajama pants too good .. what does not work for prince outfits is that they don't look worn .. they are too cartoonish and clean and look like they have tags on them still .. the pr era at least looked like he could ride a bike and his clothes wouldn't fly away .. not so much with his silk pj's ..

overall good job prince and please dump yer drummer and stop pushing other artists with mediocre songs and do what u do best .. play the fucking breakdown instead of liv .. jeesh ..

pity he didnt divided the show in 2 parts. ONe with 3rd eye girl and the other half with the npg

with 3rd eye girl:

Pretzelbodylogic ( his NEW single ) , The breakdown, funkandroll

with the npg:

Big city, the unexpected ( together with Liv)....

would be an exellent promotion of his cd and upcoming summer tour...

great idea brother...but too logical for P!!!

Yes, you make some very good points,

and have some very good ideas;

however the name of the only person who will ever

have these answers is included in the name of this site!

IstenSzek said:

last year he was releasing just songs and not gonna do albums anymore,

remember that statement? lol

/

so now he's taking his time getting together songs that fit well. ok, i get it.

/

but what if i'm waiting 3 years and the songs are all PRETZEL/FIX/FNROLL

/

what i'm saying is, we all like different stuff, so i'd perfer it if he'd still just

release whatever he came up with. the more the better.

/

otherwise it'll simply disappear into that vault again, like everything else.

/

i don't get it. what's the point of that vault anymore? to release 30000 or

so songs the year after he dies? he should have a decent site and beyond

his current projects have a monthly download of a vault track. it could've

been running into it's 15th year by now and be up to 200 tracks. i mean,

why else keep EVERYTHING? (and continue to talk about it). for what? for

whom? for when?

Donna lookin' like Ace Frehely in that outfit. Great solo on SAIMH but then Prince came along and blew her out of the water. 3rdeyegirl are a great band by the way. Saw them in Vegas and they rocked it. If he is into rock now, he picked the right band. All of them are hot too!!

Are you talking about the sexy chick that was behind Prince when they were calling that girl on the phone so her boyfriend could break up with her? Looking at the TV, she was to the left and behind Prince. I think she had white on and she was sexy. hee hee lol cool

I looked at the clip again. I really enjoyed the Mutiny mashup with the horn section. That's an awesome horn section. Prince trained them well.
The horns really brought the energy. Like the late Fela Kuti said...."Horns!!".

I loved the call and response between Prince the back up singers. He was feeling it and so was I. The sax player that did the solo was great! Eric would've been proud... smile

The keys were indeed 'different'.

If stuff is played that way he can do The Beautiful Ones on the same keys...

I gotta say, this is the most I've enjoyed a Prince television appearance in a LONG time.

I like 3rdEyeGirl. Some fans will never be happy.

It's good to see him having fun on stage.

I watched only the live performances not the intervies, and noticed the huge amount of polish he's put on these performances to the recent gigs in London and Manchester.

I guess a TV audience want more of a show, and I think Prince delivered with the help of full brass complement.

I really dug hearing Mutiny, and it was great to see everyone in 3EG getting into it. She's always in my hair seemed to be far more restrained and measured in delivery, much more like a stadium or large venue version.

Funk & Roll is a massive live song, and really lost it's punch this time. I haven't heard the album verison, not sure if any one has, but I reckon it would sound more like this.

I hate the dial-a-mob dancers with their stuck on grins and boring paint by numbers moves. Lame, always hate it when he feels the need. He's one of the few performers who is captivating sitting on a stool - see Canal + performances around Lotusflower, he barely moved but oozed cool.

Much prefer the raw energy of Hit & Run, so Prince when are you coming back to see us?? wink

You must be kidding.

Please find that b00t with the 1993 (or so) 'Rock over Germany' recordings.

And that's the first example that I can think of.

There must be gazillions more.
