I thought the performance was a little flat myself. Living in the UK I didn't see the rest of the show, I'm sure hew blew everyone else away... But having just watched the performance alone on YouTube it didn't excite me.

The graphics/images to Fixurlifeup are DREADFUL! Who does these for him?

Oh... and Prince... PLEASE LOSE THE AFRO!!!

His afro looked great. I hope he keeps it.

I'm not fond of his vocals on the new version of Let's Go Crazy, but this was a great performance in overall! FixUrLifeUp sounded great, had a lot of energy and I just loved how he added the funk lick to the end of it for quirkiness.

Calm down!! There's nothing wrong with her drumming, a solid "rock performance" - suiting the style of the songs (but she ain't no Dave Grohl).

This whole thing was awful except for Prince & Bruno. But that's what I get for watching the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees last night. shrug Real music, no lip-synching...sigh Ahhh...the good ole days. But Kid Rock did address this issue. lol

Prince definitely schooled the youngins...most of the show was fluff but speaking of youngin's might i just add his "friend"/protogee looked stunning on the red carpet!

FANTASTIC performance!!

.

He seems pumped full of NEW energy and inspiration, i just hope that translates to record.

.

I reckon he should of only performed new songs, but maybe he had an artistic message with the merge.

.

He looked cool, was cool and the band is incredible! With a good album, this 3rdeye thing will be a huge success. I fully support the idea, the shows have been great, but the songs have been bad or mediocre. I'm hoping for the best.

Who says rock band can't play funk? Love the band. Thank You Hannah, Ida, & Donna!

I thought the performance was tremendous!!! clapping Adored that slower & sexier version of Let's Go Crazy & when Ida started that insane bass solo- I felt like I was starting to lose it, like I was actually at a show! Ha ha Ida's bass solo was Phwoar... & reminded me so much of Sonny T's solo bass part in L4OA movie- U really got me going Ida!!

Loved the energy & freshness of Fixurlifeup & Prince was just as exquisitely delectable as he always is!! giggle Wish there had been more close ups of his handsome self though. Just making me crave the experience of a live show even bloody more! If I had a magic wand I'd transport myself to Mpls for the shows then hang about until GCS hit the Dakota- my life could quite happily be over after that!! Don't think I could ever get anymore funk-filled satisfaction!! Ha ha Last night was a superb job from Prince & 3rdeyegirl though- I sincerely applaud you from the bottom of my heart!! hug

I enjoyed the performance.

Although not as "classic" as the original Let's Go Crazy it's at least interesting to hear a slightly different live arrangement of this song. I thought 3rdeyegirl were looser (in a good way) and more relaxed than on the Jimmy Fallon show a little while ago. The tour must have had an effect surely? I'm neither a musician nor a highly tuned, beat/rhythm/tightenss radar but the girls are capable musicians IMHO.

Prince looked like he was really enjoying himself with Ida and then Donna. His vocals were good on Let's Go Crazy.

The only part that sounded clunky to my ears was when they went from FULU back into the Let's Go Crazy outtro.

cool

I keep reading how Prince seems so "inspired" now, but (and I know this is only my own perception and opinion) to me he doesn't seem so much inspired as desperate....desperate to regain popularity by pandering and trying to appeal to a younger audience, desperate to not be considered a washed-up, fading musician (even though the man is a LEGEND and will always be respected for his tremendous talent and past accomplishments, a fact which it seems like he can't quite realize) or worse yet (to him) be seen as an aging human being. All these gimmicks and the apparant, carefully worded propoganda meted out via 'interviews' and Dr Funkenberry, the obsession with young girlfriends, young employees, youth, etc...he just seems like he's trying SO HARD and is so afraid. And to me, that's why so much of his current output is difficult for me to connect with, because it's so synthetic and contrived.

I think Hannah, Donna and Ida are all marvelous and seem like nice ladies, and I'm not trying to insult anybody or take away their talent. But I"m sorry, I agree with a few others who said this band falls flat. The music doesn't really do it for me, and the lyrics are often just plain goofy. And I can't feel any true symbiosis or genuine sense of connection between this band, or with Prince, despite the careful styling and aesthetics designed to give them a cohesiveness. And as for the music, well...it's not HORRIBLE, but it's so lacking in depth (again, my opinion) and that indescribable, magical quality that makes a band stand out and be special.

As usual, Prince killed it on the guitar in this performance. Those moments felt real and raw, and he's untouchable in that regard. But this whole 3rdeyegirl project comes across to me in the same way as does an actor in a bad tv commercial portraying a doctor or police officer -- they might be dressed for the part and be standing near the right props, but you know they're putting on an ACT. This band - despite them all truly being actual musicians with talent - feels like an ACT and the music reflects that for me.

I'm glad for those who are enjoying and appreciating 3rdeyegirl and the current music. I gave it a chance and really wanted to love it too, but...oh well.

Thanks for reading my .02.

For all of the sadists that sat through this program, how many performers besides Prince, were actual musicians? Remember when these kinds of shows were a cornucopia of musicians who played their own instruments and actually sang notes out of their own mouths, not merely stage performers. Ahhh, the memories. Real musicians, dying off like the dinosaurs? I hope not. confused

Regarding that bass solo. I can't place it, but I recognized the second I heard it. It's based on a lick from a song, but... WHICH ONE?!?!?!?

Dunno. I thought it was a bit off including P's guitar playing...Not a memorable performance, such as the Jimmy Fallon show which was beyond epic.

Just sayin'...

speaking as a musician who has spent years building his skills on various instruments.... on a night filled with fake performances and just all round hype.... it was a breath of frest air to see prince and crew come out and tear shit up

who else is rockin' the stage of these shows with driving guitar based performances? (i'm not talking about power chord chugga chugga)

i love him for it... and the girls were great

do your thing prince cool

This is what pisses me off about these award shows today. I know awards dont mean anything TODAY but why do they have to be sooooooooooooooooo triflin ESPECIALLY when it comes to the real legends

Now I know they let Prince perform last but why didnt they broadcast him accepting his award? Did they even give him an award? but how much you willing to bet if it had been some mediore singer out today it would have gotten the proper broadcast moment? Like they did with Justin NO TALENT Bieber and they even had the audacity to call him MJ and Stevie on the same show both Prince and Madonna were attending. disbelief

I just hate how they dogg the legends. If I was Prince I would NEVER go on any of these awards, EVER! Thats why alot of the old acts dont go on them anymore because the awards dont give them the proper respect they deserve.
