Interesting how calls it "Prince "Lets Go Crazy" LIVE at the 2013" without mentioning !

hmmm

.

Honey, that's because even 3 days later they don't know what the hell that song was. It's new and no one (but the few HC) know it. Hell, I had to seek it out and listen to it a few days before I went to see him in Las Vegas.

I think the make up looks fine on Prince, but I agree with most the afro just doesn't fit him. Overall I love how he's borrowing Jimi's look.

I liked this performance. It was clever of him to do a "hit", which he almost had to, but make it fresh and new and, in a lot of ways, better. I'm loving this hippy-dippy-trippy thing they've got going. Prince's sets were getting boring there for a while. The band is not among his best (Musicology, SOTT, Lovesexy, ONA) but I like the rawness and style they bring and even enjoy hearing them fuck up a note or their timing occasionally. It brings an organic quality to the performances that reminds me a little of the Stones. I think the songwriting he's got going with 3rd Eye has really improved too, fomr the low point of Planet Earth.

Random:
Just watched Alyssa Milano on Jimmy Kimmel promoting her new show Mistresses.
She was a presenter at the BBMA and said she was there to see Prince, and that he schooled all the little ones like Justin Bieber. Apparently she's a huge fan, and put his tambourine in her son's hope chest.

Getting the occult mixed up with very real subject matter.

Prince is not and has never been a aprt of an occult unless u consider the J.W. and occult which some people do.

To get some kind of an understanding of the impact

Prince has left on the pop culture conciousness of

younger listeners and viewers, you need only

go to youtube and find the reviews of the 2013

Billboard music award performances.

Only a very very small handful of people actually

mention Prince at all, and few with any type of

praise.

The few that mention Prince, I heard them say:

"I'm not really that into Prince, but it was ok."

I expect audiences to no longer care. It's been so

many ears since he's been culturally significant

in the 'current' pop music scene. However, what

really sucks is that Prince's performances no longer

make audiences even bother talking.

Perhaps the D&P days where you showed his buttless

pants ass to the world were gimmicks he needed to

employ to get their attention.

I saw the performances and thought it was ok.
However, I liked Bruno Mars's performance far, far

better---And I'm a Prince fan, and barely even knew

who Mars was. Now, I've purchased Mars's album. sigh

It looks good on Jimi. Actually, in those early promo pics from the 70s, it looks good on Prince, too. I don't like it now, though. I think his pretty facial features and striking bone structure are lost with that big, bushy hair. The clothes, the glasses, the hair, the eye makeup - all NO's. He looked good at the Grammy's tho. smile

In a Pearl Jam forum, in refrence to the Evenflow cover, someone simply said, "Evenfro."

Thats the only thing tht bugs me about it....its not even and tidy. Prince usully isnt utidy...but his fro sure is.

That's what I mean when I said his fro was kind of "ragged." To me it looks like one of those cheap afro wigs. If it is his real hair, perhaps he went natural because his hair is thinning. I remember seeing pictures of his hair a year or so ago, and it definitely was thinning up top. I hope he doesn't go back to the Edwardian curly locks of the 80's. He's too old for that now.

You cant evaluate the significance of Princes influence on the youth based on one performance. I think it was against his best interest to perform last. Also, I hare that Madonna got an award the same night. They should have focused more on Prince. If he wanted to, Prince could be as relevant as the run-of-the-mill pop artists out today, hes fucking Prince! But its likely that he doesnt want the spotlight to that degree any longer. It seems hes putting out only what he wants. I do think it hurts his legacy a tad with how much he goes against social medias like youtube etc... But this is also a reason we love Prince. Hes underground! Anything authentic these days isnt really popular, especially with the youth. Look at who they idolize... Lil Wayne and Justin Beiber! The only way to get youth to care is to create a new direction, not join in... Which Prince is and has always done. People are caring less and less about real music.

Prince's fanbase would rather spend time critiquing his hair style and who he's banging. I know a bunch of diehard Madonna fans and those topics don't come up in conversations about her. They go to her concerts and enjoy themselves and leave the rest behind. Prince's diehard fans would rather devote weeks to a conversation about yellow pants and fly shades than big him up to the next generation of potential fans. There's been more on this site about ticket prices, afros and wardrobe than about actual music lately.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I was disappointed that the crowd didn't know the words to "Let's Go". My 14 year-old knows that Prince song. Prince needs to team up with a more current artist and do something. I know Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump is a big fan as well as Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters.

I'm sure there are a lot of popular artists that are real musicians that would LOVE to record a single with him. This may be a way to get to the younger crowd, and then introduce some of his new stuff. He needs to build a younger generation following.

They did. There's a video on y*utube from a guy who was in the audience. It's cool (this guy's singing aside) because you see the performance without the televised camera cuts. In it, you get the raw sound in the auditorium, and "Let's go" was heard loud and proud.
