Since the "official" thread is bogged down MP3/WAV debates and that website having problems for some users, lets do a thread just on this new jam that Mr. P has released into the world for a very cool 88 cents. (He hates iTunes? You don't say. )

I like it. He's done this sort of song before, but I like like he can make reading the breakfast menu so seductive-laden. Imagine him ordering at McDonalds. "I'll buy a biscuit, and I'll butter it myself.")

I'm sure this new track will follow the fan reaction of the previous new singles and free bootlegs/outtakes/whatever. First few posts will say how wonderful it is, its a MASTERPIECE! (we know who you are lol), and so forth. Then we get backlash about how Mr. P still can't do anything right musically/lyrically/production-wise since ______ (enter any random year when he was last "good") and come up with some excuse for why this is a sucky development or whatever.

Thanks Mr. P. This was worth my 88 cents.

When I first heard it I thought it was an unreleased bootleg (heard it on Facebook, not the official site.) It doesn't sound new but I like it. The Camille(?) section kind of threw me off a bit. Didn't think it was necessary but overall I like this "new" jam. It had me grinning this morning when I heard it.

Gonna buy it later tonight after work but heard it and this song is slick! smooth guitar/drums...bass. Lyrics /chorus/ song title concept... get 4stars....****

I like this a lot. A whole lot. The song's got a great groove and the keys/organ are the business. Love the drum programming too. The "voice" is straight out of the funk canon so "jam on it" Prince.

I think this song needs a stronger bridge section or something. Or it needs to build to a greater climax or something. It's a great little groove, but I just find it kind of plods along after a while. And instead of really taking it home, he fills it out with this chipmonk voice gag, which is funny and kind of cool, but seemingly a little throw-away...

But yeah, the groove is great. Always love that rhodes electric piano sound. And the lyrics are playfull. 7/10.

Another day, another new Prince track, this time around the legend releases a new track called “Breakfast Can Wait”. The track is an incredibly funky, groovy cut that is driven by some infectiously smooth guitars and backed by some of the smoothest drums ever.

Prince lets his voice soar effortlessly as he speaks about love in those early hours of the morning. As usual Prince speaks about the joys of love making, and does so impressively over top of the smooth ass beat. Man, I’m happy this man is dropping some new material. Check out “Breakfast Can Wait” after the jump and let us know what you think.

pretty nice. I'd like to see a little more production ala Starfish and Coffee to smooth it out. Like that smurf voice just pops in sort of awkwardly. If he can keep heading in this direction it'll be a good thing.

The purple one, moving in his typical mysterious ways, has launched a website selling his new songs at $.88 each. 3rdEyeGirl.com features recently released tracks “Screwdriver,” remixes of “Screwdriver” and “Rock and Roll Love Affair,” and lastly, a NEW ONE called “Breakfast Can Wait.” That song, which can be heard below, goes deep and leans heavy on the soul. Even when Prince starts doing some odd chipmunk voices, it’s still pleasing to the ears. No word on whether this is from a forthcoming album, but only time can tell what is up Prince’s sleeves.

could've gotten half a cup of coffee with this 88 cents. instead i have something i won't piss out. kinda like prince did when he made this song. he says "great" too many times. i dig the sentiment. may take time. let's just hope this is the only version of it we'll hear.

Well, kinda like some NPGMC/"High"-Tracks...nothing to write home about! Definitely won't buy it!

BTW: The smurf voice sounds way too amateurish to enjoy it more than once.

Loving this cut, especially the chorus! It's so smooth and sexy, and I love the jazzy chords with the plastic beats. Almost like Madrid 2 Chicago meets Incense And Candles but better than both of those. I love his layered vocals on the chorus. Soooo good!

The Smurf voice is wack and almost ruins the whole mood for me. It comes in so loud and is so jarring, it took me right out of the whole vibe that the song had built up. I hope he reconsiders that one.

I still love the track though and I love that it's only .88, and that it was pain free to access. 2 snaps up and one YASSSS from me.
