I'm not trying to give you a hard time here, but you didn't get my point and clearly don't understand what I was saying.

All those different Prince voices, where he is doing multi-part harmonizing with himself are multiple tracks. He sang each of them. Then there's the parts where he's doing call and response with himself, like vocal counterpoint, which is also multi-tracked. Getting all of that right, so that it sounds that good, takes an enormous amount of time and talent.

Regarding the drums, are you serious? It sounds like a Prince drum track. He's been doing drum tracks like that since the late SEVENTIES! lol

After all these years of doing this I don't think it takes him that much of time. It's a matter of routine, if there's a melody to begin with.

BTW: Never ever liked his over the top wall of voices (e.g. Thunder or 7). Voices of different persons always sound much better and more alive.

This is a really cool little song... not one of my absolute favorite P songs, but plenty fun, catchy, and distinct. Screwdriver is very good, too. I like BCW a little better, but they both are solid. Many people feel like P has lost it since (insert date here... anywhere from 89 to 95, basically), but I think that's a really shortsighted view. He's still a great artist. I think he's gotten more erratic than he used to be... trying to say why would just be baseless speculation on my part (and maybe that's not even true about him being more erratic... I admit I'm influenced by trends and public opinion, just like everybody else is). However you look at it, though, there's still plenty of great stuff. Musical trends change, people are naturally drawn to youth, there's a whole patronage element that involves people P isn't really connected to anymore, etc., etc. ... But just picture any of the following being released as a lead single from a new P album during the 80s: Gold, I Hate U, When I Lay My Hands On U, Love, Black Sweat, The One U Wanna C, Sticky Like Glue, and Breakfast Can Wait. Do you really think they wouldn't have been big hits? Of course they would have been! I do hope BCW is released as a single with proper promotion... it's better than most of the big R&B hits over the last few years. If it was from some new hot artist instead of P, critics would praise it wildly, radio would jump on it, and it would shoot up the charts.

Not the side of Prince that I'm really into, but I suppose it's not bad for what it is.

Could it be from an earlier era though? The drum sounds and the crude pitch shift effect suggests 05-06(?).

No, that would not be a very classy drawing.

And btw he's having breakfast with George the Cat, not with a nasty puss....

You know, George doesn't roll like that.

She wouldn't want him to eat a stale breakfast. That looks like it's after they f*, she cooked, then kissed him goodbye before she rushed off to work.

Look at him mushy.

Looks to me like the dog is trying to get some.

And Prince should never be seen obscurely hanging about a table with short legs.

Didn't like it all the much at first but now I love it. It grew on me. The voice at the end still sucks, but upon listening to it a few times Ive come to ignore it.

Change it one more time..

Me too...He is a master @ doing it...No one else does it as well. Besides Chaka(who inspired him to do it) & D'angelo(who Prince inspired to do it)

so if this is a 'recent' song of his does this means Prince is married?

Dr. Funkenberry had photos of him

and this individual in a private moment on the beach, who is she?

It seems like that was brushed under the rug unless it was just part of 'the game'.

Who is it that Prince wants soul food instead???

Does it matter anymore in Prince's world?

Actions speaks louder than words........

One of the most gifted musicians to ever walk the planet, releases another by-the-numbers, uninspired track.

Not digging this Prince at all, although I respect his talent.

This human being has the ability to conjure so many tones, sounds, rhythms...like no one else that I've seen. And yet, he chooses, yet again, to latch onto young female pop musicians. Which is fine.

I almost fel guilty.who am I to judge someone elses art? If I and others don't like his recent output, we are free to make our own music, or find other music to listen too, right? Right!

I display my 'disapointment', only because somehow I've made Prince 'the musical standard' that I judge all others by...musically, vocally, and otherwise. And when I hear another set of releases with mediocre cuts like RNR Affair, Screwdriver, and now BCW, I shake my head, and think to myself, "the competition has caught and surpassed my favorite artist."

I will never totally give up on Prince. I would be happy if he only made solo albums for the rest of his career....my favorites seem to be the cuts where personal struggle, insight, and revelation intertwine to produce a sonic treat: 'The Holy River' is the 1st song that comes to mind, in that vein.

Thanks for reading....end of rant!

Fair enough. It's a well-spoken, fair rant at least.

I hear you and know what you mean. It's just that I'm not too strict with Prince (yet), maybe because I didn't grow up with him being in his "prime". Sure, of course I agree that most of his 80s output has far superior quality in song-writing, more interesting production, more daring imagery and quirkiness, better lyrics etc etc, but I like the newer stuff too. I may not listen to it as often as I listen to Parade or TGE, but I'm still happy he's dropping new tunes.
