I wish I had listened to these tracks weeks ago.
Breakfast Can Wait: That groove--it just drives. Funky and sexy and the same time ala Sexy Dancer. "Pancakes smothered in syrup-Imma have ta' pass"--classic line delivered in that "dozens" voice that I love. RE: Sped up voice toward the end: Y'all know u love it.
That Girl Thang: Just what I thought when I read some of the spoilers--sounds like a demo from 1979. That's a good thing. But that passion in Prince's voice makes it so immediate, so mysterious, so raw. (p.s. this is my favorite track)
Boyfriend: Has a beat that recalls The Time from '82, but sung like only Prince can. Just some stinky, nasty, funk, smoothed out for the grown and sexy.
Screwdriver: Lead single and why not? This is Prince rocking the shit out of all your ears in that rude boy don't give a flerk way. Can't wait to see this live.
Haven't heard the Live Out Loud single yet, but looking forward to it. These tracks don't sound overproduced like some of the lesser tracks of the last decade. If this is what we have to look forward to with Prince music now that he is out of his self-imposed rehab from recording, then bring it on, you skinnymotherfuckerwitdahighvoice.
