I agree."Glam Slam" is a decent album track but it didn't stand a chance as a single.

Some, if not many, of Prince's diehard fans have terrible, terrible taste.
Many and not just some of Prince's post-2000 fans have horrible, horrible taste.
A few of Prince's dierhardest fans should see a shrink, like me. Hey he took that path, and you took that one -- just because he's the only thing you still root for from the depth of your early 20s does not mean he owes you to be cool and hip like you no longer are.
I never sat through an entire showing of UTCM or Graffiti Bridge.
I think his Mayte period, while it provided for good eye candy and memorable fantasies for Bart, was his most counterproductive and destructive.

Ok. I'll confess. I'm really turned off by Prince's huge ego. They way he talks about himself, like "I'm so bad, I can't sleep with myself, or (in concert), "I got too many hits, or " I wrote Cream while I was looking in a mirror." And there are many more.
Leave the praises to the fans, we know you're a bad ass...I don't need you to tell me you're a bad ass.
Problem for me, the new music doesn't validate his ego.

I found that when I was making a 5 disc personal best of playlist of Prince I had no trouble at all filling the first 4 discs with 1978-1995 material but making disc 5 only featuring songs from 1996-2010 I had trouble filling the whole CD with songs that I feel could stand up to his previous music. And thats 15 years of music! Colonized Mind and Black Sweat (even with that synthesiser sound people don't like) however show that when he wants he can still be excellent.

When I saw P in '04 during the Musicology tour in Washington, D.C., thanks to my purchased tix through the NPG Music Club, I had front row tickets. I was so close to P that I could have reached up and touched his boots....but I didn't since the big ass security guard men were staring my ass down like they could read my mind.
Even though I was hella excited when the Musicology album came out, I think it's a very mediocre album. In fact, I think his last best album was "Emancipation". YES I SAID IT!!!! I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Musicology is a mediocre album IMO but at least it brought Prince back to the mainstream.

Mya said: I think 'Poom Poom' is a stone cold motherfucking groove, does that count? Me too! Don't understand the hate for it. Cracks me up, too. "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

there's gotta be another reason to like him, right? For all time I am with you, you are with me.

I'm sort of with you on the Small Club thing. There are parts of it I honestly couldn't live without (Just My Imagination), but I can only listen to about half of it. By the time Bonnie starts shredding her vocal cords on Forever In My Life, I'm done. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Yet, from what was happening in rnb in the 90s, if he only had released this, comparatively weak, song, I'd still say it was a highlight for 90s rnb. What I mean is, even if he had some fall of quality (larger or smaller, depending on the fan's opinion) from the 90s on, and through the 00s, it is only comparing to what he did in the 80s. Cause for 90s and 00s rnb, Prince's work was still among the best. And rnb is one of the few genre's I'm currently, that is from the 90s on, truly interested. Rock n roll glory days are long gone. This post makes me think of T C Ellis'song "True confession" We make our own way to heaven everyday
"The only Love there is, is the Love we make"

1) I rarely like his rock guitar driven (Other than Let's Go Crazy) and house songs 2) I don't think Tony M was as bad as people say. TC Ellison on the other hand 3) Had Black Album been released it would not have been popular at all. Though I love it 4) Slow Love and I could never take the place ... are 2 songs I can't stand on SOTT 5) I only like half of Dirty Mind

I prefer Grafitti Bridge film over PR, it's fun and funky. The album too.
Sign O The Times is my least favourite album.

I'll play.
* "Moonbeam Levels" is an average outtake at best. * Parade has some great songs on it, but it doesn't work well as an album and so I rarely listen to it. * The Dortmund Lovesexy show is somewhat boring. * The Graffiti Bridge update of "Tick, Tick Bang" is superior to the Dirty Mind outtake. * "Purple and Gold" is a better song than "The Digital Garden."
These are just my opinions, of course. https://www.youtube.com/@PurpleKnightsPodcast
