I don’t buy a magazine just because he is on the cover or is giving an interview in the magazine.

I don’t go to see him in concert every time he comes to my city.

I also don’t think Prince is or ever was mysterious

1. I did a similar thing with the Hop Farm gig. It's only bout half hour away but I've seen the hits 'for the last time' enough so didn't bother. Felt odd though.

Allrighty...here's my BIG confession, I got one of the biggest Prince vinyl collections and my recordplayer hasn't worked 4 at least 15 years...

I have lots of boots in soundboard quality. They do nothing for me.

However, the songs that I can't live without: Purple Music, Noon Rendevous, my favorite version of Something in the Water, etc., you'll have to pry those from my cold dead hands.

Were these recent, or relatively recent, shows? IE post 2000?

I think the Lovesexy show I saw was probably the biggest musical let-down I've ever had. Not to say it was a terrible gig, but it was generally flat and uninvolving. The crowd wasn't into it, and the people I went with all expressed some form of disappointment with it as well. The show I saw last year may have been predictable and rote, but IMO it was by most measures much better.

I have not been to a Prince concert since 1997 (Jam of the Year tour).He has played my town many times since then,but I didn't want to go see him.

I saw the Lovesexy show in 1988 and it was the most amazing concert I have ever seen.The shows that I have seen after '88 didn't impress me as much.

- I cringe like hell watching Purple Rain, Graffti Bridge and especialllllly Under The Cherry Moon. He cannot act.

- I'm not a huge fan of the Sign O The Times album.

- I think he has a lot of 'filler tracks' on his albums

- I find it extrememly annoying that you can't watch his live performances or his videos on the internet. I wasn't around in the mid 80's, how am I supposed to watch how my favourite album unfolded on stage???? (I have seen him live though in London but still....)

- I have never heard The Black Album, The Rainbow Children or NEWS.

- I prefer The Revolution over NPG, ANYDAY.

- I do not like Tamar, The Time, Vanity 6, Appolonia 6, Bria...

- I hate hearing him talk about 'The Scriptures.'

- He is not all that.

I have to force myself to like most of his music, i.e. LRC. Even though I think he is best musician/entertainer, alot of his songs I don't like. Batman is the only album I like in its entirety. Never listened to Kamasutra or that Animal Kingdom disc either.

How does anyone 'force' themselves to get into a tune? More to the point, why?

There's other stuff out there. Good thing with P is he's pretty diverse so there's bound to be something else of his that would force itself into your funky bone. Unfortunately in some cases, I fear the worst. The patient may be beyond help. Serious drops in SOTT or WX147 levels can be very troublesome and may lead to Grafitti-Bridgedness.

Deffo not 'silly stuff from a newbie!' I never said I didn't like it just said I wasn't a big fan of it. I like 'Nasty Girl,' but thats it. I'm more of a fan of Prince's work than the people he works with. I've heard 'Superfunkycalifragisexy' and 'When 2 R In Love' but thats it.

This song is not bad! The keyboard effects going from left to right, and the lyrics ain't BAD! It's paradise! I loved it when I first heard it, and I still do now. It does no wrong! Why don't you like it? Hahaha

- I don't have a stereo nor speakers. Computer is ancient, so no use for cd listening. Therefore, it's a while since I heard any of his albums.

It's my voice that is heard screaming like a woman at the beginning of "the Ride" wich was released on the Crystal Ball compilation. It was recorded at a summer show at Paisly Park. I was 4 feet from Prince's mic. The fact is, at the time I thought the song was really weak. A standard blues-by-numbers bit that was boring. But I guess I was really excited to be at the show. The first time I heard it on Crystal Ball, I was literally speechless for half a day. Thinking: "I'm on a Prince album...". Some combination of wanting to brag and being extremely embarassed.

At that same show I yelled out "Priiiince!". It was symbol era, and I put my hands over my mouth while people around us laughed.

My screaming voice also appears a couple times on the bootleg, 'Born in St. Paul'. I had 12th row for the surprise show at St. Paul Civic Center which ended up being the beginning of the NUDE tour.

My first Prince concert was the opening light of Lovesexy in America at the Met Center in Minnesota. I was extremely dissapointed in the show cause everything was so tightly choreographed, and I hated the quick medlys of songs and things. I thought it was too stage-y, and I really wanted to see him and his band just groove and play for awhile.

While I do miss the Revolution, and I think they were his best band, the Lovesexy/SOTT were an appropriate replacement. I don't think he has had a band worthy of his talent since then.

I think Prince is currently wresting on his laurels. I suspect that he may no longer give a fuck, and for him it's just about being Jesus-y and preparing for death.
