All that matters is Prince looks very healthy & happy. His change of looks is just the Gemini in him. I C nothing wrong with the way he looks. Andy's Afrocentric ways have rubbed off on him in a gr8 way..

eye don't understand whenever Prince shows his ethnicity in his looks or music. He gets so hated on here. U know Prince is a black man born of african american heritage..DEAL WITH IT.

KCool...

It's Public Relations Fandom, people will talk about their perspectives, and it really has nothing to do with race,

It's about how the photo comes off. I don't think anyone made this racial. Black decendant people aren't the only ones that can get an afro

Like a lot of people said, the photo looks off, sorta photoshopped, the hair does look like somone cut n pasted

I'm not a Photoshop expert, but I do think it's a photoshopped picture, but I could be wrong. However, whether it is photoshopped or not, whether the hair has been cut and pasted or not, I agree that whenever Prince embraces some aspect of his African American heritage, especially in his appearance, there are a number of members on this site that have negative comments. And it's not just his appearance. I remember some of the comments about the African American dancer in the "Black Sweat" video. Thus, it is one thing to say that the picture is odd, goofy, or weird, but some of the comments were beyond that and had a racial tone to them as they addressed the hair. And if I may even go further, that is the problem with racism or white supremacy. For the most part, white people are so use to African people assimilating to their aesthetic tastes and sensibilities that when we don't many consider that behavior as "odd," "goofy," and "weird," because how dare someone that white people have grown to love for being so much like them have the nerve or insanity to embrace a more African or African American aesthetic. So, yes, much of this is about everyone's personal aesthetics or tastes, and everyone has a right to their own aesthetics or tastes, but based on some of the comments it seems clear that race or, even further, racism--whether they know it or not--is driving or influencing that aesthetic or taste.

*

For instance, the picture presents a different aesthetic for me because of the sword and because he seems heavier. And while some people have said that he looks healthier, I’m not sure that gaining weight is healthier because that weight seems more like fat than muscle. But, again, I could be wrong. Additionally, the sword is something that is weird to me because I’ve never seen him with a sword, and I don’t know the context or reason why he would have a sword. It may be a pretty logical reason for having the sword, or it may be another example of Prince being “batshit” crazy. However, while his hair is still texturized, it is as close to natural as the Musicology pic or the For You pic, and the notion that natural or close to coarse hair looks odd, goofy, or weird on an African American to some people does make me wonder about the aesthetic tastes of those people and what is influencing their aesthetic tastes. Strictly speaking about the hair, how is it odd, goofy, or weird for someone to look like or close to like their natural self unless one thinks that all people must look like a European or similar to a European to have value, worth, or sanity.

His hair is grey. He must be really prominently grey because in closer photos he has grey hairs in his eyebrows. I noticed his brows some time ago that lead me to my theory. I was a colorist and every client with that much gray in the brows was a good 70% gray or more.

This is why people keep saying his hair is thinning, its not... its the roots that are gray so the hair photographs as looking sparse or balding. He colors all his hair, eyebrows and chest hairs included I am sure.

I am willing to bet he keeps his mustache trim because that's getting pretty grey as well.

If he were to put down the dye, I am sure people would be shocked to see what he really looks like au natural and grey. wink Hey, getting older isn't for wimps. he can ignore his birthdays all he wants to, he can't ignore all the grey hairs. You getting old P! lol

Wrong! We're ALL entitled to our personal opinions! I may not agree with yours nor Prince's and y'all may not agree with mine. That's just fine.

However, when it comes to "professionalism" it really cannot be about any of our personal opinions.

My dismay regarding these wack ass pictures isn't coming from my personal opinion. It's purely from my professional stand point. As of February this year, I've owned and successfully operated my very own business that specializes in computer generated graphic artistry, for the last 10 years!

He can go nappy, even bald, but he can't go gray... why? Because then he would look OLD and people aren't even no where near ready for that imagery.

Look at all these silly (yes I said silly) comments about the size of his arms and how "fat" they look. His arms are that big and not cut because the man is OLD. Most 50 + year old men havd flappy arms upper arms. Only diligent men who live in the gym keep the definition. The skin just sags....

How many 50+ men we see have sharp definition in their arms? We are not used to looking at old bodies, we as a society do not embrace wrinkles, sagging skin, and all the other things that come with an aged body.

Prince is desperately hanging on to his youth, he doesn't want to appear old to be "marketable". This is a mistake IMHO. In his eyes, a gray haired Prince would lose a huge fan base since his image is based on his sex appeal... but I think a new fan base will come to appreciate him more and re-gain his older following.

Prince now has to re-define what sexy is in an aged body. Its time to focus on the music and not surround himself with little girls any more. He can't play young like an actor on a film set with body doubles in a sex scene... he needs to go the way of Smokey Robinson, and go in a mature route and leave that damn hair dye, and eyeliner alone... he has to develop a different look.

The longer he keeps wearing that eyeliner, tons of foundation and hair dye the closer he gets to looking like Little Richard. Except Little Richard applies his make-up better than Prince.
