based on the short clip alone I ahve to echo what many are saying, it's a pointless cover that si nowhere near the original in terms of quality. Is Andy really doing a rap on this - ?, do you think he's let her lose in the vault and she's picked her faves to work on?.
This and the Dance for me project makes me realise just how irrelevant he is [to me] as a recording artist, which is fair enough as innovation really belongs to youth. He is forever blighted by poor decion making when it comes to making records.

Laaaaawd. Ok I had to keep telling myself not to compare it to the original. On its own...its ok. He stripped a lot of the fun and excitement from it however, and sounds as if he's bored and sung the track in one take. There is missing the spazzed out funky vocals on this one. Its watered and distilled much from what it was. Appreciate the effort and Prince actually aknowledging this track...but I think ill be playing the '83 version still. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I really dont understand how any Prince fan, who has heard the original can LIKE this one. This is just another attempt to give a great song a makeover. This attempt is awful. I'll drink all the Prince Koolaid I can get, but I'm spitting this back out. [Edited 11/23/11 6:23am] E.

As far as I know, there's no official definition of "harcore fan"... unless you want to make it. So you can't tell nobody if they're harcore fans or not.

Totally agree my friend.....it's embassarring. Where's the energy? The Bad ass'ness? Keenmeister

Maaan yes it IS still Extra Loveable.
Show me something you made or wrote when you were half the age you are now. Tell me there wouldn't be things you'd want to change.
There are things I recorded last year I'd rather re-do than have people hear.
The rap is weak on this, but the rest of the song is jammin.

Considering that practically every Orger has heard the original and owns it then adding in the fact that we knew any released vault track would be re-recorded. Why would anyone expect ot hear the original track 30 years later? If you want the exact vault tracks then guess what you've had them for decades already! When ![]() ![]() ![]()

I believe he samples the drum break from 3121's "Love" and even goes into a bit of the groove of it towards the end of the song. With the two note motif. Duh-duh, duh-duh.

Reminds me of a qoute by George Orwell
'What have you in common witht the child of five whose photography your mother keeps on the mantelpiece? Nothing, except that you happen to be the same person"
And that's exactly how I feel about this 'track'. It may have the same title, couple of lyrics and similar riff, but it's not Extraloveable.
The organial was about the energy, attitude...pure new wave funk....this sadly is by a old washed up has been, promoting a new tour. Keenmeister

I like it. Sounds like a little Rick James Punk Funk New Wave.
Nothing can beat the original, so this is a nice mix. I'll buy it. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Good for him. Of course no 2011 remake of these songs is going to sound like the original, because he's evolved as a musician and as a person over the past few decades. But it's great that he's taking an interest in the songs in his vault. The Beach Boys' famous Smile album was finally released this year after being shelved since 1967. It would never have happened, however, if Brian Wilson (who wrote all the music) hadn't gone back first and rerecorded the album as Brian Wilson Presents Smile. He had to offer his current take on the music to the world before he would sign off on releasing the old recordings, which he previously considered unworthy of release. Maybe if Prince starts to appreciate his own legacy, we'll eventually see some original music come out of the vault. (However, as I've stated before, I hope the vault stays closed so I don't have to spend any money on expensive CD remasters.) The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.
